I think I see the problem here....the Air Force just doesn't have any cool movies about it.  The Navy has Top Gun and Officer and a Gentleman, the Army has TONS of movies, Saving Private Ryan, Patton, etc.  The Marines possibly have Jarhead.

What's the Air Force have?  Iron Eagle...a movie where a bunch of teenagers commandeerr every high security portion of an AF base, requisition a couple of F-16's and go on a mission.   ::)

And don't get me started on Wargames!

Stealth wasn't realistic?  ???

 ;)

I think the reason we(the AF) haven't gotten the noteriety in films is because of the crap films like Iron Eagle and Stealth- it kind of intimidates newer AF film proposals-preventing them from ever happening.

I know we're not cursed but ...come on a good film already

well, I did think independance day was decent

I agree, Independence Day was good. I read somewhere a long time ago that the air force wouldn't promote the movie unless they took out the parts about Area 51, which of course they didn't. I do also agree that there needs to be a new realistic AF movie. It seems everytime they do make one, it is sci-fi like ID4 or Stealth, but when you think about it, the AF is very interesting on its own without all that fictional stuff thrown in.

I used to buy Legos when I was younger, but due to the price and the other toy lines out there, I have  not bought any non-Star Wars ones in a while. I still love to bust out my old ones from time to time and make something though  ;D

Minor plot spoilers:

Be warned - every review I've read has said there's virtually no military action in this film.  It's a character/drama movie, not a war movie.  The plot focuses on how they get to Iraq and are disappointed that there's no fighting to do.

Well I wouldn't expect there to be much action...I mean, the Ground War only last for 3 days, right?

That's a good point, I had forgotten about that!

Anything early Nickelodeon. I'll elaborate more later.

I wonder why they do that? Its a little misleading. They know you want the action, they entice you by showing you action, then they give you drama  ???

Because guys won't march out in droves to see a movie all about a bunch of guys sitting in a tent in the desert talking about their feelings.  ;)

I understand that, but there's ways to make it a mix of both, ala Saving Private Ryan.

In response to Bill Cable (I didn't want to quote it cause it has a spoiler):

This was done with that WW2 prisoner of war movie that came out a few years ago as well (sorry, the name escapes me).  They showed explosions and everything in the trailers, but the actually movie was about a trial.  >:(

This may be a bit OT, but here it goes anyway.

To those of you that have seen/own Cannibal Holocaust, where do you think I would be able to rent or view it at? I'm guessing Best Buy and Blockbuster aren't going to have this. Now I know what I'm getting myself into, I've read dozens of reviews on it, and I want to see if it is hype or if there is actually anything behind the movie other than what it seems to be on the outside. I'm NOT looking to buy this movie at all, just watch it once.

Also, I was looking over some other lists on some other sites, and looking at the most disturbing movies of all time, and was wondering what you guys thought shoudl be on the list. Thanks!

RIP Mr. Hollis  :'(

I was thinking that the other day too, that it seems each month we lose another beloved OT actor. While I didn't have the pleasure of meeting him, I've heard only great things about him and I am saddened about his passing.

I'd like tos ee it but it's one of those movies I'm thinking I can't get the gf to go see...

The shot of the A-10's buzzing over the infantry is just great though and really makes you wanna check that out.  Looked nice...  The music though is great too, at least in the commercials, and seems to fit the bill.  Sorta reminded me something of a modern version of Full Metal Jacket or some such, maybe a little more light-hearted at times, i dunno.

Looks good though to me.

It reminded me of Full Metal Jacket a lot too.

I'm suprised, with Jake Gyllenhaal and Jamie Foxx in it, that your gf wouldn't want to see it.

Is anyone else really excited about this movie? My friends and I are going to go see it tomorrow night when it opens. From the looks of things they have a really good cast, I really like Jake Gyllenhaal and Chris Cooper. I've been checking out the Jarhead site today, it is really well done.

Its on my to do list as well. I agree, Gyllenhaal and Cooper are extraordinary actors, and Foxx is great too. This is based on the current war in Iraq, correct?
