It is a real medicom product, But after the set was released an ebay seller named appleheadbob (or something close to that) was selling factory rejects. In most cases the heads were loose, but some had bad paint applications. I do not think that their are any fake star wars   kubricks out that could be mistaken for the real thing.

While that is true, the seller you are talking about was always selling loose. I don't think they seal the rejects before they get, well, rejected.

Yup, it's 3 for the black hole stormies. The 3rd is the same as stormtrooper pose # 1- left hand in belt, holding pistol up in right. (that's the one I've got).

Heck, I still have my blackhole stormtrooper! I remember when they had the glow in the dark versions of the 1st series, and I thought they were great.

There is a set of 6, plus the AT-ST and hoth trooper on ebay right now for $239 shipped- That is only $65 more than a box from NCS, and you get a chase with nothing you have to sell. Just search for Star Wars Kubrick DX 2.

I like both chases, they are good looking figures. I would like to get multiples of each, but probably won't get any. The new chases are just too expensive to justify (even to myself), and neither of these is a character I have to have.

Today's the 25th, which was the original ship on-or-around date for NCS. I just checked ebay, and nothing has shown up there yet. Hopefully soon...  :-\

I still think you just got a real figure since it was sealed, but still a lemon in some ways. Cutting up a bespin luke and stormtrooper would cost as much as a real luke trooper, I just don't see the motivation.

Medicom makes some great products, but errors do get through quality control. I'm looking at my Yakface that I busted out of a master case with only one ear painted on the inside. Things happen...

The helmet does fit on, but it is a very tight fit. I just put the helmet on mine about 3/4 of the way, and decided that was enough (I didn't want it to get stuck).

He does have the exact same hair as bespin Luke, right dow to the tiny bit of paint to represent the bottom of his ear.

I cracked mine out of a sealed box, so I think what you got is the real deal. I've had brand new figures with loose joints and heads too.  :-\

The Legacy Collection / Re: Beginning of the End?
« on: August 17, 2010, 06:13 PM »
I think the vintage line may be the last big push for the movie product being the main line, at least for a while. I think we are seeing a transition to the television supported product, and that trend seems very likely to continue.

Hasbro is doing some amazing work right now, but some of the best work in the vintage line (argueably) came at the end. I don't think the quality of product is going to spell the end, simply lack of engagement with the consumers.

After months without products, the shelves are getting filled with new product, a new look, and a great variety of products. I think the future of the line in 2012 and beyond is going to be dictated by the next 6 months of sales. The two trends I see as worrisome are:
1) the reappearance of so many recent releases in the legends line being a drag on sales
2) general loss of interest in the hobby, as indicated by lower sales and mirrored in decreased traffic on sites like this.
