Newbies / Re: Hey, peeps.

I post over at the Rebby Scum forums, but they seem kinda uptight there at times. And no one goes to galactic hunter forums anymore.

This place seems to have its own clique I'll quickly be alienated from. Ha.

Welcome-

I drifted over from GH some years ago myself- good group here, even if the activity level has dropped a bit.

Gentle Giant / Gentle Giant Jumbo Vintage Kenner Figures
« on: July 25, 2010, 10:47 AM »
Thanks for all the info Jayson-

I'm still sorely tempted by these, at least to get the Stormtrooper and Vader. I wonder if 1,500 is the run for the figure period, or the figure on that particular card. I could see some of these being released on alternate cardbacks as show exclusives in the future-

$100 would buy a pretty nice orginal vintage carded figure, and would take up less space.   :P

Thanks for the link Captain!

I like how it looks, that vac metal is the best finish by a long shot. I just don't know that I want to spend $50-60 to get my 4th OT threepio.

With no net, this may end up coming in a box set with Chewie at some point too.

Sent you a pm- thanks!  ;D

Some interesting discussion in this thread, that's for sure.

I think part of the complaining about the price comes from our fractured "wants" as collectors. Some want cloth goods, 5 layers of paint aps, working holsters, ball jointed elbows, and everything else I'm forgetting. Some like the animated look, others only want realistic. Others keep them carded, so articulation is moot, but card art or photography is important. Some are openers, and stand them up in rows, so packaging and articulation may be back burner items. That leaves a lot of people unhappy no matter what the big H makes, or how much it costs.

In my biggest collecting days, I was an opener, and army builder. The troops pretty much stood in formation, so articulation was cool, but almost no knees have ever been put in the "bent" position. I would rather pay $5 for a reasonable likeness with less articulation than 7-8 (or more) for features, packaging, pack ins, etc that  I don't personally use.

I guess my only point is, no matter which road Hasbro takes, some will love it and the price will mean less, and others will find fault, and have a harder time justifying any price but clearance.

Vinyl Ben with the hood up would be ok (but it doesn't say that), and Garindan rocks. I think this wave is likely to be the first since series 3 where I don't buy a box.  :-\

Wouldn't Lili Ledy Bib be a chase in the reg. Bib box?

It would make sense to me, but then again so would putting the chases in place of the multi-per box figures. If both Fett and Bib are in 1:12 boxes, that means every single master case has 1 incomplete set of 6. At $700 plus per mastercase, that would be a bit of a bummer. Bib and Amanaman are the only two really "new" characters in the wave, everyone else is just dressed a little different.

Hopefully the Fett is only the common chase...

I don't think it will be.  Based on what was previously reported, the Amanaman is a 1:12 figure.  Based on past releases, the chases that have been packed in the 1:12 figure boxes have proven to be the rare chases.  Sooo, if the Fett was indeed found in an Amanaman box, then odds are that's one of the rare chases and we have yet to see the common one.

Good point,

since series 3 the common chases have been 2 per master case, both in the same box of 12, with the exception of series 8.

Series 1- 2 Fetts, both 1:96 I believe
Sereis 2- 1 white sandtrooper in each box, IJ 1:96
Series 3 Logray and vinyl Jawa 1:96, Han carbonite 2:48, both in same box
Series 4 Dagobah Vader 1:96, either Han or Luke stormtrooper 2:48 both in same box
Sereis 5 Blue snaggletooth and Ponda Baba 1:96, Han Endor 2:48 both in same box
Series 6- Tarkin and Veers 1:96, Wedge 2:48, both in same box
Series 7- Yak face and sprit Anakin 1:96, blue senate guard 2:48 both in the same box
Series 8- Aurra Sing and Saesee Tiin 1:96, Jar Jar 1:48
Series 9- Zam Wessel and Shaak Ti 1:96, yellow clone 2:48 both in same box
Series 10- 4 arm grievous and Tion 1:96, gree 2:48 both in same box

And we don't know what box Bib came in, do we? I'm hoping 3-PO...
