Collect All 92! / Re: Han Solo
« on: October 21, 2010, 11:53 PM »
All vintage figures could have improved considerably with the white part of the eye (sclera) depicted on our first toys.
If toy technology have let it, figures could have had belts and holsters in different colors than pants.

One thing the vintage Han Solo accomplishes is a ready position for shotting, also when the figure is stand without rising his blaster arm. The curvature of his legs suggests Han is ready to make a sprint, a fall, roll or run to use his blaster.

One way to show this attitude in this character was the 25th anniversary Han Solo (Potj), which came with Chewie in a similar pose.

Vintage Dengar shows a more detailed chest armor than vintage hoth stormtrooperīs
He also spots two buttons on hips, which were omitted in post versions of the character.
tvc improved Dengar stance, teh sculpt of his face got more realistic than previous releases.

His armor got lila, brown shades, instead of a plain purple from the vintage action figure.

It is the era of two piece heads (head separated from neck), so is a bit hard to figure how the likeness could have improved in the one piece format of the head used in vintage, potf2, potj and some saga. This only could serve for the impression of realism, but I recognise all heads in the 2 piece ways are greatly depicted.

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: OTC Visual Carded Checklist
« on: October 20, 2010, 01:14 PM »
Hasbro should have released a Luke pilot with dutch vander body, like the case of wedge (anh with black gloves)
I wonder how many items are put aside in repacks, like commtech from cantina Han, force file in the case of Chewbacca and IG88 (POTJ), the slide from Gamorrean guard (potf2), etc.

This collection brought cardfronts ideal for diorama costumers, or for fans who want to show their action figures in a movie like scene.

Nice droid, remember the robots of the early sci-fi movies

Interesting how Hasbro releases tiny characters, maybe in battle packs

it would be convenient to release a mouse droid with antenna with some imperial commanders.

As it happened with the legacy at at driver, when Hasbro wanted to improve details of the helmet, it grew bigger. This is the case for modern tie pilot too. A helmet with more detail that needed more accesories like breathing tubes.

vintage paint job shows Bossk face skin lighter than limbs (this was the impression of the photo / pre thx)
in the vtsc and saga legends version the limbs and face are almost the same tone, only limbs look darker for the prescence of a great number of scales on them.

I was thinking (not exactly on chase figures) what would happen if some tvc action figures appear with extra pistols colored blue?
This as a tribute to vintage collection.

Oh, I didnīt forget vinatge kenner had green, black and grey weapons too.

Between vintage and vtsc is a diminution in size of hands and feet, but the character grew taller (although his wider stance)

I remember a photo of 32 vintage cardback, where kenner shows IG88 with biceps and forearm springs black. Perhaps a way to follow Death Star Droid black paint applications on his arms.

The bandolier of actual ig88 has evolved the most, cause it also holds the knife. Good to see that ig88 chest cylinders are painted in a different chrome colour.

The wires got a more realistic depiction, cause they are curved and placed over ig88 body, while vintage iggy shows the wires straight lying on his torso and legs.

Vintage Ig88 got red lights on his jaw, but vtsc shows it the same color as his head (as a reference the photo of the character depicts thems as black dots.)

I also put Bossk in the cap-2 mini rig during vintage time.
I agree vtsc Bossk is a cool evolution of the character, the buttons on his pants show great detail.

Vintage Bossk will be remembered as the only closed mouth representation of this character.

seems like Windu has got more attention in this wave, his hilt is incredible detailed, but the legs look a bit skinny.

Good entertainment for prequell collectors, I will pass this wave, because I donīt collect pt, but I hope pt collectors would have a good time picking them up.

The at st driver has evolved a lot, his legs look more realistic than previous versions, the harness has grey and silver applications
It looks that the 2 snowtroopers differ in height, but a bit only.

The turret is cool, I wish they havenīt used decal / stickers this time on its interior, but good job. A nice set too.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Cartoon Watchers?
« on: October 9, 2010, 02:44 PM »
I like to watch some super heros clashes on youtube, heros vs heros or heros vs villians, Batman animated series, jla, superman, some from marvel: hulk, thor, captain america.

Also is nice to see these formidables foes speaking when delivering powerful strikes.

Iīm reading "The techniques of modern fiction. Essays in practical criticism." by Jonathan Raban. It deals with the novels of the 60īs, mainly English or American writers, comparing topics with other writers of other countries.

Collect All 92! / Re: Rebel Soldier (Hoth Battle Gear)
« on: September 29, 2010, 09:06 PM »
Seeing all these versions together make me think in the chance of a generic hoth rebel soldier with brown or beidge vest, considering the foam appearence of the shoulders (on the vest)
Also this new version could depict brown boots
There are also more possibilities, for example the rebel soldiers passing Echo base corridors with beidge vest and black boots (without shin guards), similar than the rebel pilots`boots.

The vintage at at driver spots strong carved lines on his body, they define the volume and position of his limbs.
As it was a naïve version, the lack of detail and colour solves the interpretation of the character in a minimalistic way, however it ended in a decent job.
In modern era we were exposed to original esb photos showing the whole uniform of the at at driver, so detail becomes a must for sculptors.
This tlc version is decent enough, the harness could have been improved with stronger carved lines.
Seems like the psitol can fit without the plastic strap.
