Middle Earth / Re: LOTR Trilogy Figures
« on: September 21, 2005, 11:25 PM »
New figures have hit TRU. I will pass on the Gandalf, it looks like a Gandalf the White with a big grey cloak thrown over him. No thanks. Frodo is not in the blue like the movie/picture and thus I am not interested. Aragorn is cool. Did not see or get the Gondorian Swordsman so  . . . .  hopefully sometime this week I or a friend will find.

On a side note, the new packaging is really cool.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Do you display more than one...
« on: September 21, 2005, 02:11 AM »
Really depends on a few  things:

1) Do I REALLY LIKE, yep, REALLY REALLY like the figure? If yes, then

2) Is it a character that I REALLY like? If yes then

3) Do I want more of this figure to cusomize? Yes/or No then I go to

4) Do I have the money in my budget to do this? If yes then

I buy it.

For ROTS, I have mutiples of the Obi Wan Pilot  x5 {not inlcuding the one my son has(best figure IMO in the line, or you have to include it in your top 3)}, one of the brown mask AT RT and one of hte white Mask AT RT, Five Shocktroopers (they grew on me after my son opened his and I want a squad for a diarom. I want to make of the senate scene after the Yoda/Sidious fight);
Three Agen Kolars, one to keep, two to cusomize. Two AT TE to display and 3 to customize; 2 #41 SA Clone to keep, 8 to cusomize. A few others.
The main one is the Obi Wan Pilot. I too have one with robe and one without.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: "Evolutions" assortment...

I'm not sure right now if I am going to go after the white version that hard of this set. I am very happy with the yellow version and this set just doesn't do anything for me. Guess it depends how much money I have in November, and IF I want to hunt for em.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: #65 Tactical Ops Trooper (501st)
« on: September 20, 2005, 10:48 PM »
Cost is relative. If they sell less of the AT TE then they have to compute their revenue to expense for their profit. I would wonder what the profit spread on the AT TE mold vs the SA Mold is. I bet that it is minimial (which is relative dpending on how many they make). I know that I am only going to get 1 or 2 now, and leave it at that (since I have some customs I made I like, and the JTA figures which are ok). So the question comes down to would Hasbro have made more money making the SA Clone vs the AT TE clone? I don't know what their margins are so I cannot answer that. I would guess that they would have sold more SA Clones then the AT TE. Then again, most Star Wars Fans buy whatever is put out which is what I think the bottom line issue here is.

Newbie to customizing here, but my next project is to make a Hoth Rebel Solider that I actually like (not the Buzz lightyear from the Saga Line). In reality it won't be this weekend because I have a conference I am attending so it will be next weekend before I can start on this one.

Very nice job! I like your paint job and agree the color is cool. Love the Clone Wars ARC weapon and the backstory. I agree that a jet pack might work, maybe a modified Jango. Great job overall!

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Covert Ops Clone Trooper

This is an example of Hasbro taking the want of collectors too far. Stupid clone, not needed. I will pledge right now, right here that I will pass on this clone so someone else can have an "extra" though I don't think that will really be a problem.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Jedi Temple Assault Battle Pack
« on: September 18, 2005, 02:19 PM »
Picked up my second one yesterday. I really like this set minus Anakin and the Clone Pilot. Anyway, now I think if the Tactical Ops Trooper is the AT TE body, I'll only get 2 if/when I can find them. Though the clones are #6, I would have to agree that though I custom the SA Clone, I really like my squad of Shock Troopers and my Squad of the Jedi Temple assult. Just need to put some wear and tear on em.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: RotS - Deluxe Figures
« on: September 18, 2005, 02:05 PM »
Yes, the Walmarts around here are putting out the deluxe, all colors but white of the clone, blue, red and green. Vader table, crab droid, white flying clone, and Stass Allie. I would say that of all of them the White Jet Pack/Flying Clone and Stass Allie are the ones that peg warm the most. I have one Wally where Stass seems to sit. She runs for $9.99 plus tax.
Oh yeah, Grevious Deluxe is out too and he moves the fastest. I passed on him, but my son got one back in April, I really like that Grevious, so I found a pretty beat up card and being an opener I bought it last night. I got to the register and asked the clerk since the figure is so damage could I have a discount. It was slow so she called the cust. service mgr or front end (not sure what they call them) and told her what I asked. She looked at and said "Yeah, it is damaged so give him 10% off." So I had my taxes taken care of. I do that from time to time when I find a card beat up but with a good figure inside and about 1/4 to 1/3 of the time I save some money, espcicially at Walmart.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: NEW TIE Fighter
« on: September 18, 2005, 02:01 PM »
We were shopping yesterday, and unless I am on the hunt, we don't shop at Walmart (only for SW figures). Anyway, so we went to 2 Targets looking for a new Pokemon video game for my son (not out yet). Anyway, at one Target I found 2 of the  Tie's and looked it over. If it was $20 to $25 I would have bought it. Not worth it at $39.99.  The next Target we went to, I found four on the shelf. I know one of the Toy Dept workers there and asked him how they were selling. He went into the back and said, looks like we sold about 6 the first week, but only 1 this week.
I believe in the end this vehicle  will do what the other Target exclusives have done; sit on warm the shelf. The initial collectors who want em have gotten em, and now the ones that are there and in the back will sit (an occasional one will sell still I beleive). Then we Target puts them on clearance they will fly off the shelves. Very typical of a Target exclusive ship. So I am willing to gamble and wait. I may be wrong and if so, no biggie as I really am not into vehicles. My son would like one, but like my wife said, "I'm not going to spend some $40 on a ship, that's a tank of gas almost." And that is my final point. I don't think  most kids parents are going to buy these, which will ensure these sit at the current price.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Your Collecting Budget?
« on: September 17, 2005, 01:46 AM »
I have an exact budget. $100 a month for personal spending (wife gets the same). When the $100 is out, I'm done. This has worked extremely well, forcing me to decide what I really want, and what I don't want. So it made the transition from carded and opener, to opener and non-completist several months ago. Works well with the wife and no more arguments etc. I usually end up with abou $50-$75 on heavy collecting months on the collection, and about $40 on non heavy months being spent on me; rest goes to either my kids or I spend on the wife.

Toy Reviews / Re: New JD Review: C-3PO (ROTS version)
« on: September 17, 2005, 01:39 AM »
Okay, I found one today on my way home from work at a Wally, and I bought him, and I am glad I did. Though not perfect, he is a good addition to the ROTS line. Looks like Wally is dumping out all their older cases from the warehouse.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: New toy lines affecting SW ROTS?
« on: September 17, 2005, 01:33 AM »
I think what will be interesting is how hard will it be to get distro out on the final 12? I think some parts of the country will do ok (where demand is high,  but so is the competition to get them) and the others who have struggled this year will continue to do so unfortunetly. Here's hoping I am wrong and we all find everything we want.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS Recent Purchases
« on: September 16, 2005, 04:56 PM »
Went to a Wally on the way home today, and they restocked but very old figures like wave 1 and 2, with some ATRT and Obi Wan Pilots mixed in with a couple of Green Commanders. I did find and buy C3P0 since I had passed on him in April and May, and felt like I better get 1 now that I found him.
