Revenge of the Sith / Re: Jedi Temple Assault Battle Pack
« on: September 11, 2005, 12:49 AM »
I picked up a set from a fellow collector yesterday. I like the clones but I actually like my customs on the SA 41 better.  Anyway, I'll keep em since my son likes them and we played JTA last night with them and the customs.

My son says the pilot is in the package is there because in the regular package he has a sticke that is used to repair electronic/computer things. The pilot is there to help Anakin to slice into the computer (the pilot needs to know how to fix his ship and computers on the ship according to my son).

This is not found anywhere but in the imagination of a 11 year old boy, but it reminded me that at times, even when I hate something like the pilot in this set, the set is made first for kids, and if it fosters them to use their imagination then it is not a bad thing. Now as a collector I still HATE the fact that the Clone is there.

Ok, Wally is all about profit, and these figures bring in a nice profit. What I was told is that my one store is out because they are not shipping from the warehouse, but expect shipments to begin in abotu 2 weeks. Well, that works with me since it is around the time I would expect to see the final 12. The mgr said it is not because they do not want product, but trying to get product in. He said the warehouse may be clearing out all old stock to make room for the holiday stock that is allocated to each store (not sure if this was true, and he was an asst mgr).
The other Wally asst mgr told me that they are getting their allocation in of SW and are putting the stuff out as they receive it. He did say they have been clearing out overstock lately and no new 3 3/4 inch figures have come in, but he checked his computer and said in 2 to 3 weeks he should see plenty of SW stuff in.
Not worried.

Awesome story! Thanks for sharing. I know that today when I got the JTA from a friend, my 11 year old was with me, and my son did not know what I was getting so he opened up the bag and saw it and said "Cool!!!! Look the 501st Dad!!!! Tonight we played Jedi Temple assult using the figures and a different Anakin. My son was pretty savy when I asked why we would even want the clone pilot and he said something like "besides being pilots, the clone pilot Dad is trained in handling and slicing computers. So the pilot is there to help hack into Jedi Temple systems."  I need to ask him today how he put that together, but last night when we played, that is what he had the pilot do, help Anakin slice into computer systems that Anakin/Vader did not have time to get into. That is why I got into collecting, that is why I open (store em in the box though!), that is the prime reason I still collect, is to have those times of sharing with my son!

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Gas Prices
« on: September 10, 2005, 12:09 AM »
I still strongly feel that we will see prices moderate, but the problem we face is our short term vs long term memories. There is a gas station on my way to the school I teach at that closed 2 years ago this month. The price signs are still there and they read $1.459 for regular unleaded.  I cannot remember the price a year ago, but I am thinking it was under $2 a gal. or around $1.799.  Boy, what I would give for $1.799 but I think those days are done. What will change oil prices and force them down is the slowing of the US economy. When we as Americans can no longer afford to driver except to the needed locations of work, grocery shopping, kids sports games, school, etc., and the middle to upper middle class restricts their spending, then energy prices will have to moderate and go down. Not to be doom and gloom, but it is about time for a mild recession to moderate both the slight inflation we have had, and the soaring prices of living expenses. Hopefully I am wrong.

Toy Reviews / Re: Target Giant TIE Fighter
« on: September 9, 2005, 11:58 PM »
Jesse, I really appreciated your review as your points helped me to see that my decision to pass on this vehicle was the correct one for me! I would be more then interested in a mail in campaign and would pay the $20 for the wings for other Ties. Hasbro could make a killing do that, but they won't because they are a mega corporation that likes to continue to cash flow without thinking. Inovation is gone from Hasbro, and I think we can see that in many of their products (not all, some inovation is there, not much some).

« on: September 9, 2005, 09:05 PM »
Ok, can someone explain to me why all the fuss over this ship? I mean I have an orginial and the CW one so I passed. Not needed IMO, and in my case I actually wished I had only one of the ships.  I like the ARC 170 much better!

I haven't changed my wants for the final 12, just the number. Bly and Gree yes, the new R4 yes, 501st x2 (to complete the squad from JTA), Grevious Bodyguard White x1, and 1 Wookie Commando.

A local TRU put out 10 cases of the 2 Clone 2 Anakin Evolutions set. Helped some collectors get some, and I got an extra. Two is good for me on those.

I also got from a fellow collector/friend the JTA. I had mixed feelings about it but am glad I did it. The Anakin sucks as we all know, and I had passed on the Clone Pilot (my son got the one DeanPaul got for me early this year). So now I'll have a grey to go with the Black I had. I LOVE the Clones! Though not perfect, they are a nice edition and look good. Now all I need are Bly, Gree (maybe) and Tactical Ops Clone x2 and I am good!

One of our local TRU's put out 20 clones and 20 Anakin Evolutions i.e. 10 cases. The Anakins are still there, but the Clones sold out by the afternoon.  Guess I'll have to watch em hit ebay now.  Hopefully some collectors got em!

I cannot post the link because this is from an endorsed section in our local collecting forum and you have to have access to get into that part, but the posts go to support what I've said:

It was at the Murray TRu not Orem.

I saw these at retail quite a bit and they were not hard to find here in Utah. Wish I had picked up more of them I guess for trading purposes. Man, $75 for Luke was overboard. Either they had the money or as I guess (and it is sad ) is that I bet neither of the bidders probably could really afford the Luke, but their appetite for it made them bid away. I wonder if they did not have the money what bill they put aside etc. (If they did. Again, they may have the extra $ to blow); either way, still very stupid IMO.

Actually, I have always been told that if you sell a house under 4 or 5 years, the amount of ROI is not enough to equal the loss to interest and down payment, and closing costs etc.  Guess I need to research that myself and see if that is true. Having said that, I will say that buying anytime is better then renting because if your in the right location, equity will go up.

I found a Bly up for sale in Hong Kong that is going for 21.00 currently. AHQ and others have em up for sale and for shipping by the end of the month. I still think we are anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks out on new stuff depending on where we live, how current stores are stock etc.

Hmmm, IF he was a well known member then I would chip in.

But what the heck. I work for the Jolly Old Man in a red suit who lives at the North Pole. There are thousands of requests from KIDS who want all the SA Clone Wars Clone Troopers, Shock Troopers, Green and Red Clone Commanders, all SA 41 ROTS Clones, and all #6 clones you have.
Then when the Tatical Assult Clones come out, please send all you buy to me via the Jolly Old Man. This will ensure that all the KIDS who have requested these sought after, hard to find figures can receive them for Christmas. PM me for my address or send your clones to:

Santa  Claus
i.e. The Black Dog
1 North Pole Ave
North Pole AK, 05667

I also work for the tooth fairy so you could send the clones there also to

Tooth Fairy
i.e. The Black Dog
1 Fairy Lane
Fairyland, 00000.

Suppose we'll wait a year or two to get the Cody we really want; a SA Cody.  I'll buy one but then wait for SA Cody.  Sure hope I am wrong on this.
