Saga '02-'04 / Re: luke bespin duel burned version?
« on: February 24, 2005, 02:09 PM »
According to our Variation checklist accessible from the main page on JD.com, there was a burnt version.  (I was actually unaware of that version - my guess is that it wasn't that common before they changed to the clean version).  Check it out here, and scroll down to #29, Luke Bespin.

Other Collectibles / Re: Sideshow 1/4 Statues?
« on: February 23, 2005, 08:11 PM »
I sent an e-mail to Sideshow to find out how much it would cost to ship my Vader statue to Canada.

Here is the response:

"Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the delay in response.

The item you have inquired about will cost approximately US$50 to ship.

This quote is an estimation. Prices are subject to change without
notice. Any duties or taxes are the responsibility of the customer.

Best Regards,
Scot King
Sideshow Collectibles"

So the price just got bumped to $350 + $50 = $400US = $498CDN.  And that's before customs and brokerage fees.

OUCH.

Kubricks / Series 4
« on: February 23, 2005, 11:38 AM »
I'm amazed it's an OT series as well, but it's an incredibly smart move.  This is obviously a collector driven line, not kids, so Medicom knows that there is always a huge desire for OT stuff.  Especially with the potential glut of ROTS merchandise that will flood the stores.

Very nice.  It's great to see them tackle more of the main characters.  They even look scaled nicely with Vader being the tallest.  Since I'm a Vader fanatic, I don't imagine I'll be able to pass up on this one.

They just hit one out of the park.  Beauty.

Holy **** is right!  That's awesome.  Where did you find this?

$223CDN / $180US.  Poseable, removable helmet, even a nice saber.

edit: work done.  ;)

Fred's great, but she could use a cheeseburger or 8.  Beautiful woman but would snap in two like a twig with a strong breeze.

Agreed.  I like curves, not bones.

Right on!  I think I just convinced my wife to go to C3.  She'll be accompanying me on the adventures, but I think you guys'll get a kick out of her.  After all, she's the one that supports my collecting addiction habit.   :)  I think she'll probably come out for a few hours each day, and then go shopping when she gets overwhelmed by the geekiness.  So, knowing her, it may be a competition to see who can spend more money.   :D

As for line-ups, I can be convinced to go anywhere.  Obviously, the talking Vader is a necessity - I may actually pick up all 8 that I'll be entitled to (my wife is going to get a 4 day pass as well).  I figure some of my Canadian brothers in arms will be interested.  Of course, we'll be flying, so that will be a factor in what I can take home because my goodies will have to go in a suitcase to go home, and airlines aren't exactly known for being gentle on luggage.   :(

Now I've never collected any of the MR pieces, but seeing one with my own eyes may convince me to pick up one of the exclusives.

Like you guys said, I'd be surprised if there wasn't an exclusive from GG, which I'd be interested in since I've got a couple Busts and Bust-Ups.

Oh, and sign me up for the drunken line-ups.   ;)

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS carded figures
« on: February 22, 2005, 01:33 AM »
Also, every figure we've seen previewed has April 02 listed as a release date.

Interesting.  But I think we have to take that with a grain of salt because the Cargo Bay is notorious for having release dates out of wack.  I remember looking through the Micromachines section a while ago and they were out to lunch on a few things.

But if they're right, it's going to be a hell of wild start on April 2!

Bring it on! Spoilers are welcome here - it says so in the section header and there is a sticky post warning that there are spoilers here - so spill! Please!

Yeah, but some of us are trying to be careful too.  I don't even read the ROTS Movie threads simply because I want to stay away from spoilers.  So if you do post any spoilerish stuff, please warn me so I can scroll through!   :)

As far as I understand it, that's pretty much right.  It sounds like some other retailers may get involved as well, perhaps Target and TRU.  Am I right guys?

This would certainly be one of the more unique pieces in a person's collection!  I'd love to have it, but I don't think it'll be a real priority.  There's simply too much else out there that I'll buy first, for now.

And especially after I broke the bank ordering that Sideshow Vader...
