Basically the Canadian toy shopping experience roughly equates to buy it when you see it, cuz you ain't gonna see it again ::)

Oh man, ain't that the truth.  I wish there was a vastly better alternative to Wal-Mart, but the closest thing would be TRU, certainly not Zellers - it could quite possibly be an even deeper ****hole.  Mine still has Episode 1 figures on the shelves!!!   ::)

Yeah, based on DoctorPadawan's post here, these are 2 of the 3 deluxe figures planned for the 1st wave.  Interesting.

Well, well, well.  It looks like us Canadians have tracked down some more leaked figures, as shown on Snowtroopers.ca.  Would those qualify as Deluxe figures?

If they're $5.99 at Target that's where I'll likely go, or TRU.  WM will be a madhouse...  Unless I don't feel like driving the distance, I'll probably make for another store.

These days, I seem to try to avoid Wal-Mart if I can.  More and more of their stores are **** holes that I can't stand to be in.  I've only ever been in one Target, but it impressed me.  Was this just a fluke, or do others feel this way too?

And besides, Wal-Mart is such a crushing force on competition that I'm almost starting to feel guilty going there.  Seems kinda silly, but true.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Enjoying the quiet?
« on: February 17, 2005, 09:05 PM »
Enjoying the quiet?  Yes and no.  Since I'm in a small town, I never have any local stores to visit anyway, so must of my purchases are done online.  So the only real difference is that I don't visit as many stores when I hit da big city.  Unfortunately, I'm actually spending more money right now because I know I can focus on my older incomplete collections and don't have to worry about missing any brand new stuff.  So, no quiet for me - my credit card is screaming.

So, who won?  Any fatalities?

Um, do you always carry a camera with you when you're shopping?

 ;D

Matt and Vator (sorry, your first name escapes me  :-[):  Where did you find those Super Soakers?  I'm just curious to know if it's a particular chain that is letting these out early, or if it's all just a fluke.   :)

Gentle Giant / Re: Bust Ups!

I got a notice today that my Bust-Ups have been shipped -  8) - initally they said it would be a couple days before they left.  But I suddenly realized that they are being shipped by UPS ground, not USPS ground.  So they'll get here faster, but this means I'm likely going to get raped for more customs and fees by UPS.  I bet it would have been cheaper in the long run to just pay for USPS Global Express.   :'(

No worries, Andy!  Computers are great when they work, and terrible when they don't.   ;)

Yeah, I've checked out Legends, and they do carry the Bust-Ups.  But they only sell them in singles (not cases), and with the boxes being unmarked, it's a crapshoot as to what I'd get.

So I figured I'd try going for the case of 12, at least I'm guaranteed to get all of the regulars, perhaps even a variant or two (I seem to remember there being some talk in this thread about the odds of getting a variant were pretty good, I'll have to do some searching).  And what the hell, I get those holo ones too.

And getting the case, I'll get another 3 stormtroopers, I can always use more of those!   :)

Well, I broke down and ordered a case of Series 2 from Action Figure Xpress last nite.  It's the first time I've ordered from them, so we'll see how things go - from what I've heard, I shouldn't have any worries.

Unfortunately, the only options for shipping were ground (4-6 wks) or Global Express (couple days, but VERY pricey), so I went the cheaper route.  I guess it'll be a while before I actually see these babies.  But it should mean I'll have a few extras for trade or sale down the road if anyone's interested (I'm still looking for Luke and Yoda from series 1).   :)

Andy, would you mind sending me that list too?  Although I'm not yet collecting vintage stuff, I plan to in the future - this would give me an idea of who to avoid because I won't know until I get burnt by one of these buggers.

JD Sports Forum! / Re: NHL Offseason
« on: February 16, 2005, 01:18 PM »
Apathy is beginning to settle with me. While I hate the idea of their being no Stanley Cup Playoffs, the most exciting 2 months in ALL of sports, the stupidity of the owners, players, and Bettman has made me not care that the season will be cancelled.

...Finding that after all these years they were watching out of habit but now are finding other things to do or other leagues to watch. Is that true JD's Canadian peeps?

Well said.  Disappointment -> Disgust -> Apathy.

I'm certainly not nearly a die-hard fan like a lot of guys, but if they want to piss away the season, I'm simply going to find other things to do.  I will still miss the playoffs though.
