Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Toys R Us (Or: Die, Dinosaur, Die!)
« on: March 25, 2018, 12:30 PM »
My question was really about whether or not product had gotten from Hasbro's distribution centers to Toys R Us.  And frankly I'm a little surprised that it already shipped to Toys R Us' distribution network.

I'm not. I haven't seen a TFA restock at any of the stores I go to in over a month, but I have seen the Solo 6" figures pop out at WalMart twice. This stuff shipped a while ago and they're sitting on it.

POTF Packaging is exclusive. Coin is exclusive. Yak Face will be released in the Vintage Collection on a ROTJ card.

I have to believe this was not the plan, but an added bonus to get them across the finish line. They are really trying to make this happen...

New pics of the Barge painted, plus the reveal of an exclusive POTF carded Yak Face (with coin) to be included with the Barge purchase!

Solo: A Star Wars Story / Re: Solo 3.75" Basic Figures
« on: March 19, 2018, 05:53 PM »
I know Yakface as an awesome list of all the upcoming goodies, but is there a resource that breaks down what is new vs. repacks?  I've seen that for the TVC figs, but not for the basic figs.

All the basic 3 3/4" figures have the !NEW! Force Link II feature so they're all new, technically. Even Especially Jyn Erso.

Clicked through to read the story and couldn't help but notice a large ad for WalMart's online service taking up the right-hand side of the page.

Nice.

Heck, I'll show you one now...

The Last Jedi / Re: TLJ 3.75" BB-8 2-in-1 Mega Playset

Thanks for the review, CHEWIE! And glad to see one without the cheesy stickers applied, I think I will be going that route also.  ;D

(What is up with FX-7 becoming a torture droid, though? That's up there with Luke turning his back on the Force as far as Sequel Trilogy character twists go!)

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Everything Rebelscum

Rebelscum seems to have updated their forum shell / software, and it sucks.

That's all.

For some reason, their default PC interface is now the mobile version. If you go to the bottom of the list, you can select "full site" to change it back to normal.

Sometiimes it seems like there's no one at the wheel over there... ???

Adam Pawlus talks about sometimes wanting the line to take a break. I say it sometimes, and I never do, though when people ask me what I want most from these toys, that's it. I want a break. I want to go away and come back fresh and excited, or maybe just enjoy what I have. There are multiple stresses on the hobby that are producing this moment of shrinking retail, websites, interest and we're all squeezed in the middle.

Well said, and I totally get that. I "retired" from collecting 10 years ago (when I felt the same way) by writing out a master list of all the Star Wars figures I would ever want, and trying real hard to stick to it. There's maybe a dozen left to be made (or not) and I evaluate resculpts to buy when and if I see them in the store. With the sequel trilogy/spinoffs, I have been setting a cap at the "12 essential" characters from each, though I haven't really gotten off my butt to figure out who those would be for TLJ yet.

I have been really happy with my collection as a closed-ended thing, I do not regret the Master List at all, and it has given me long breaks from "looking for stuff" over the past few years.

Still haven't decided if I want a Sail Barge for the long haul...

Still need this playset? Less than $70 right now on Amazon.com.

I had been on the fence about this playset. Saw it this morning at Target for $99, and was sorely considering it, but ultimately passed.

So when I saw this link I had to bite. Curse you/thank you Jeff! Now I own a giant BB-8! ;) (I feel good about using the JD link, too!)

Wow! I hadn't seen those pictures yet. Thanks, Nick!

Any pics of that cancelled Hoth playset?

If this is the one from the 90's, no pics have ever surfaced, but the anecdotal evidence has always been it was a Pop-Up Diorama (like the Cantina and Jabba's Palace from the end of POTF2) of the Echo Base Hangar. It was cancelled because the whole line was cancelled at the time (and these dioramas didn't sell well when they did make it out on clearance after the fact), but the description of the set was basically an 18" wide backdrop with room in the middle to park a Snowspeeder.

I went with

--Death Star
--Cloud City
--Scariff Citadel

I thought about X-Wing Luke, but for whatever reason I have a great deal of fondness for that figure, it really impressed me when it came out (what? 12 years ago??) If they resculpted it I would probably have a hard time upgrading just because of the nostalgia factor.

The same thing happened to me when they did Bespin Han...I had a real hard time giving up POTJ Bespin Han (OK, so I didn't even give him up, he's still on a shelf because I still love that figure, as outdated as the sculpt may be.)

Seems like we have a little bit of a consensus, here. I went with:

--Farmboy Luke (no softgoods)
--White Dress Leia (no softgoods)
--Bespin Escape Lando (with removable cape)
