Watto's Junk Yard / Re: No immediate plans to see Ep. III?
« on: May 18, 2005, 12:20 PM »
I'm going to the midnight show, but my best friend has a lot of comittments with work, lots of travelling n stuff, and he won't be able to see it for two or three weeks either.

I suggested he try to sneak away during part of his trip to catch it, but his wife won't allow him to see it unless she's there too! ;D

That would bee interesting....a bunch of Clonetroopers with bullseyes on them!

I found this figure over the weekend, and it's a cool looking figure, just an odd choice for an exclusive.

I came across this show tonight when I was flipping through the channels after 24 ended.  Discoverey Channel is doing a series of shows all week on a variety of subjects.  Tonight's focuses on robotics.

You can see all of the scheduled episodes here.

I got the first part of my order today, two weeks after I made the order.(when everything was "in stock").  All four are OTC figures I had not gotten in the past because I was on a hiatus from collecting and the cards on three of them were bent because of they way they packaged them.

Luckily, I had a few empty protecto-paks and you can't notice it.

Thanks to board members here I'm all caught up on Exclusives.

EB Set - Yes
Holo Yoda - Yes
Target Vader - Yes
C3 Vader - Yes (Thanks to Sith Lord Chaos)
Target Clone - Yes (Thanks to Yodafan)
EE Clones - No...but I'm not worried about this, I think they will be plentiful down the road (hell..EE is still selling their exclusive Holiday Sets!)  I want to get one set of each.

No one else has been reporting this but SLC also hooked me up with one of the C3 Exclusive Obi-Wan minisabers from Master Replicas.  Having a bit of an Obi-Wan focus in my collection, this was a great score!

I'll be there!  There are three showings here in Ft Collins (12:01, 12:02, & 12:03), all of which are sold out here.

Luckily, I bought one early enough to be in the 12:01 showing....like those 2 minutes count!  ;D

I just got this today and it's not too terrible.  I was able to get the Anakin into the Starfighter, but the action feature is pointless.  The ship itself is ok...the green is nice, but I don't like the white color it came with.  Not a huge deal, but I like the gunmetal grey color they used as the base for the other two (or three) that have been released.

I also bought a Saesee Tiin to put in the Cockpit of the green one.  Now all I need is the #56 Obi-Wan and all my ships will have pilots!

I honestly think Star Trek really hurt Sci Fi on Tv as a whole.  The writing for that show has never been all that great...even in the original series.

All the the Original Trek was groundbreaking for it's day, the writing was sub-par at best.  You can watch the very first episoed and then the very last episode of the series and the characters are EXACTLY THE SAME!  There was zero character growth throughout the entire series....poor writing in my opinion.

When TNG came along, it was just more of the same.  Every episode had the senior crew sitting around that damn conference room discussing their feelings on the subject at hand while they were in the middle of some crisis.  Couple that with the pseudo-science of just "remodulating" some divice with a name with little to no vowels in it and magically they were saved!  Again, we saw the same formula of no continuity through episodes to the point where you had plotlines completely contradicting previous episodes and people STILL watched the show!

When DS9 came on, they actually tried to do something different, but again fell into the same routine.  At first, there was a lot of conflict between members of the crew, but after the first season, they were all the harmonious bunch of yes men just like every other trek crew.  What really angers me about this is at the same time, one of the best Sci Fi shows ever to hit television, Babylon 5, was on and while they had to struggle for each season to be aired, DS9 was picked up with no problems and they even blatantly stole the plot from B5 come the third season.

Voyager was pure crap from episode 1 to the series finale.  It was so bad that even Trekkies started complaining for the first time in 30 years instead of blindly watching and acting like lemmings.  So what do they do..."Here's the Borg....now shut up and keep watching".

They also made shows like Earth Final Conflict and Andromeda....these shows were absolutely horrible, but they slapped Gene Roddenberry's name on them so that they could attract the faithful Trekkies.

As far as the success of a Star Wars tv project?  Who knows?  We all know we're going to watch it, but if the writing isn't good, a lot of us would probably stop watching pretty quick.

Episode 1 / Re: Yellow Saber?
« on: May 14, 2005, 09:31 PM »
There was an Obi-Wan Jedi Figure and the Plo Koon figure (both from the POTJ line) that have green sabers that are a very light green and look yellow in some photos.

But None of the Episode 1 figures came with a yellow saber.

Congrats Shannon....you don't have to offer me one of the tickets.  I don't think I could make it down there in time and I have an alert the next day.   :P

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: the Jedi Prophecy
« on: May 13, 2005, 09:04 PM »
I think that Anakin does bring about balance to the force.  He starts out as a Jedi, Becomes Vader and ultimately destroy's the Emperor who was bringing the force out of balance.

I think Luke was the catalyst that made it happen though.

Collector's Tips / Re: Space
« on: May 13, 2005, 08:46 PM »
Right now...it's a mix of display and storage.  I've framed the ROTS movie poster I have and i't up in my living room.  My 1:24 scale Nascar cars, MR Mini-Obi-Wan sabers and Darth Tater are on my desk.  My Plush R2, Beanie Buddies and Jedi Mickey are on my Futon in my computer room.

My 3 3/4" figures are going in storage for now until I get space for them.
