I just had a wet dream type moment...

Hasbro has said they will probably rerelease all of the Kenner 3 packs at some point...and have sort of hinted they may tweak the figures a little bit...here's hoping they release this with updated modern equivalents of the Kenner figures!

They probably will do that one...3 months after Ponda Baba comes out on a TVC basic figure card.  ::)

The Vintage Collection / Re: Hasbro Q&A Sessions

Pretty lackluster Q&A all the way around.  And I attribute that to some sites submitting such specific product ideas in their questions that there's almost no way that Hasbro would agree to or confirm these ideas.  Hasbro has established some fairly rudimentary parameters by which they operate, and if some of these sites would pay attention they would know which of these questions were such complete non-starters.

Picked up some stuff today.  It was all SOTDS stuff, and nothing that was proper TVC:  TFU 5-pack, Rebel Transport Speeder with Rebel Ground Crew, and a SL Spacetrooper.

Yup.  Now I'm mixing up my EU video game titles?  It is definitely time for a vacation.

Picked up this set today.  The Naval Trooper & Officer are pretty awesome.  And I like this version of Starkiller.  But Darth Phobos?  I'm REALLY on the fence with her.  It's as if they decided to turn Rystall from Jabba's Palace into a Sith Lord.

Saw this pack and the KOTOR pack today.  I made a choice and only bought the KOTOR set.  I just didn't feel like spending $80 at TRU today.

The way the movie started, I could have sworn that the Skull's lair was in Norway.  When they said he was in the Alps later in the movie it threw me for a loop.

I scored DEFENSE OF KAMINO this morning.  It does appear to be shortpacked in comparison to everything else in that case.  The clones and ARC Commander are actually pretty cool.  As for the rest of the current assortment?  Meh.

I scored one of these this afternoon.  I like the new deco on the speeder.  And the Geonosian adds some variety to the Seperatist ranks.  Couldn't find the Rebel pack though, which was thoroughly predictable.

TRU also has a deal on SW basic figures this week (Commander Blackout is exempted).  It's Buy Two for $10.99.  That deal applies to The Vintage Collection, Clone Wars and Saga Legends (along with other Hasbro properties).  And in the case of TVC it's essentially a BOGO deal.  I scored another Cloud Car Pilot & AT-AT Commander to fill the ranks at this price.

I really think the sculpted-on jackets/vests these days are a BIG step back aesthetically.  That now means paint aps, and paint aps usually screw up any good sculpting that was done because they're never perfect.

I miss removable vests and separately sculpted jacket pieces.  That stuff gave not just visual depth, but it was actual physically separate so there was just a higher quality there.  People have overlooked that on these two figures, a lot.  It's as big a step backward as not including thigh-straps on holsters and things.

Some folks disagree, but to me you're paying more and the figures are getting more and more corners cut.  Hasbro shouldn't be doing that.

I miss the seperate vests, too.  It was a great feature on some of the older figures.

But I think the tooling costs for this new Rebel Fleet Trooper were already running to the high side.  There's a significant number of accessories:  helmet, hat, blaster, range finder & ammo strap.  Plus there's all of the articulation.  So in this case it appears that Hasbro made a tradeoff.  Sculpt the vest on and get more value elsewhere.

So, I saw this yesterday.  The box is plenty big.  But that front opening flap may play havoc for some MIMB collectors.  I didn't feel any sense of urgency to pick this up when I first saw it, and I'm not in a terrible rush.  I'll get around to it soon enough.

It's tough to top IKEA's Billy bookcases for storage and value.  I've got a few and they're pretty good.  But you really do need to fasten them to the wall for stability.

I've been following the progress bit by bit, but WOW!  I didn't realize you were doing a complete renovation.  The house looks awesome.  When do you think you'll be done?

I've seen reports of literally like 5 or 6 different things popping up at Target that I really want in the past week.

I saw quite a few new items at Target over the past few days:  Republic Attack Shuttle, new electronic lightsabers, smaller SW Transformers, Blu Ray commemorative packs, the R/C Republic Fighter Tank, the Rapid Strike Vehicles and yes, the new battle packs.

Frankly, I am unimpressed with the new battle packs.  I only saw the Geonosis set with Obi-Wan, ARF Trooper & Geonosian plus the Ahsoka, Anakin & Cad Bane in Clone disguise.  Meh.
