A message went out to the participating sites, and they're still working on this particular round.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: CW "Battle of Orto Plutonia" Battle Pack

Really?  Even more reason to skip this battle pack in that case.  I couldn't make out enough details from the Sandtroopers image to distinguish that.

Meh, as far as the figure lineup.  I hope the Clone is the same one that's being packed with the Freeco bike.  Because this battle pack hold little to no interest for me.  Granted, the Thi-Sen figure is awesome.  But I bought that at least 6 months ago.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2010 "Vintage" Collection Wave 3 - ROTJ
« on: September 10, 2010, 02:16 AM »
I am surprised these have not appeared on preorder yet on the etailers sites. Now that Wave 2 is in ample supply and shipped I find it weird they do not have the next wave up for presale...

AMPLE SUPPLY?

I haven't seen one bit of the ROTS wave yet, and mind you I don't live in the sticks.  NATIONAL DISTRIBUTION of a wave takes a little bit of time.  And based on Hasbro's comments at both Comic Con and CV, it sounds like they're scrambling internally to get the ROTJ wave to market.

I'm finally seeing figures like the Silver Centurion, Advanced Armor and Arctic Armor showing at retail.  And sure enough this weekend the Armored Assault 3-pack has shown up.

::)  What did they have like four for sale?  I really hate Wal Mart.

Any why is this available only "in limited stores"?!?!?!

The closest WalMart to me according to the in-store search is over 30 miles away. Meanwhile, I have a WalMart that's less than 2 miles away, another that's 10 miles away and a third that's less than 20 miles away. Why couldn't one of those three damn stores have been one of the few "limited" stores?!?!

It really is ridiculous.  Thankfully I got my order in last night, but I'm not counting on ANYTHING until it arrives on my doorstep.

In all of my searching I've only seen shelf tags for Jabba in a handful of stores.  And in those cases?  It's hit or miss.  The size of the store doesn't seem to be the determining factor when it comes to which stores have the shelf tags.  I've been in some enormous WalMarts that didn't have the shelf tags.

Still, it's good to know that the WalMart online store is an option.  Don't get me wrong:  I LOATHE WalMart when it comes to their exclusives.  They've had a horrendous track record with Star Wars exclusives dating back as far as I can remember.  So this is what we can expect from the world's largest toy retailer?  Uck.

About time.  I must have been to at least 10 WalMart stores over the past week or so and I have not seen Jabba ANYWHERE.  Site to Store?  Screw that.  Deliver it to my house, WalMart.  Because the way you handle exclusives SUCKS.

WOOT!  Got the throne a few weeks ago, but the exclusive Palpatine just arrived today.  Nice!

I picked up the Armored Assault 3-pack at Target today.  It's the one that comes with Whiplash (with "new" whips), the Mark V, and the Sea Drone.  It was $19.99.
I didn't even know this set was a Target exclusive.

No luck finding this today and I visited a number of Target stores.  This line is getting more and more difficult to collect every day.

Check the DPCI (087-06-0205).
Others have had luck with it.

Thanks for the lead!  I used the DPCI and scored the set.  Although the store I got it from didn't have the pricing info in the cashier computers.  Are these being held for a promotion tied in with the DVD release?

The Original Trilogy / Re: Why does Vader Die?
« on: August 27, 2010, 11:07 PM »
The Force Lightning from the Emporer certainly was a major contributor in Vader's death.  But given the way Lucas dealt with Padme's death in childbirth?  I think if you asked him about it, he would say that Vader was using the Force to help sustain himself.  And his redemption from the Dark Side may have brought him to a level of peace where he could let himself die.

Simple:  He dies because what in the world are you supposed to do with him if he lives?

Sorry, couldn't help myself.  ;D

That Infinities story was definitely cool.  But this look for Anakin in armor was so lame.  The transition from black to white was really hackneyed.  Why not have him in robes/colors that are more realistic and like traditional Jedi robes?

Keep the mechanical parts as black or stainless steel.  Make the leather part of the outfit white/off-white.  And make the robe/cloak brown.  From a story standpoint it would have been a lot easier to digest than the all white nonsense.

As tempting as finding this wave may be, TRU's pricing is keeping me from buying Vintage Collection figures in their stores.  The only way TRU may rope me in is if it's easier to find the Bounty Hunt foil cards there.  Well, that or they finally lower their prices.

I took the plunge on the Rise of Boba Fett ultimate battle pack today.  And there goes the collecting budget for now.

A TESB Slave I would definitely be welcome in my book.  But then I haven't found the Ultimate Battle Pack yet myself.  This in itself is somewhat puzzling since I'm in TRU's corporate backyard.  And since TRU corporate headquarters is near me the stores tend to be stocked incredibly well.  Exclusives tend to be fairly abundant.  But for this Ultimate Battle Pack to not show up in TRU's backyard?  It's stunning.

Exclusives in general appear to be on the decline.  Hasbro really pushed the envelope with them over the past 5 or so years.  But the exclusives for 2009 & 2010 seem to be diminishing.  In large part this seems to be because of an overall decline in retail sales which can be attributed to economic conditions.  And general sales of Star Wars have declined as well.  The demise of the Deluxe vehicle line really hurt the chances of an OT Slave I coming out as a mainline offering.  But perhaps Target would take it on?  They seemed to have some measure of success with Slave I in the past when the AOTC version was repainted.

The Bespin Guard variants are definitely welcome.  But I really hope this isn't a strategy that Hasbro might employ in order to get people to buy the 9-pack.  As for the validity of the rumor?  I'm not feeling all that secure with the source that passed it onto me.  But it's definitely bound to be fodder for discussion.
