Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Does ANYONE collect Baseball cards anymore?
« on: February 5, 2007, 09:44 AM »
I'd rather GIVE mine to someone who gives a crap than throw them out...

I think I'm going to find a card shop and if someone wants to give me $10 for the lot, they can have em.

Unless any of you guys want the Shaq rookie cards that I thought would be worth $200 each as a 13 year old for $0.99...   :-[

I wonder what Beckett would say about the value of these cards that no one is interested in... you think it would say they're wort all kinds of coin?

Most of mine are mint - but none of them are graded.  They're all 15 to 20 years old at this point, in the same hard cases they were in when I put them in there as a kid.  Nothing too fancy - Frank Thomas and Ken Griffey rookies, crap like that.

It's only 100 or so cards (sold off the thousands and thousands of commons for $200 years ago).

I want to be rid of them - but I don't really want to throw them away.

I'm guessing I'd be lucky to get $20 for all of it if I take them to a card shop, but that's the way I'm leaning right now - I'd rather have $20 and them out of my house than to have them just taking up space.  And to think way back when the book value on these was probably 500 times what I can actually get for them now.

Over the holiday I brought home what was left of my baseball card collection from when I was little.  I had the idea of selling it but it looks like almost NOTHING sells for any amount of money on eBay.

So, my question is - is there any market whatsoever for this stuff, and where would you take Baseball cards if you were trying to sell them?

I've never had any qualms about cracking open a case straight from the palette when no one's looking.

If what you want to buy is sitting right there, why should a little bit of tape that hasn't been sliced yet come between you and success?

Don't sweat it - I'm a little embarrassed because I just realized my reply wasn't very helpful, at all.  Sorry.

I'm pretty sure if you start installing those windows updates, you can choose 'custom' install (or something like that) and then it will show you a list of items and you can check which ones you want installed and which ones you don't.

As for all the image related questions - I use Photoshop, but that's not the cheapest program in the world.  There are other simpler, cheaper options out there.

I'm going to merge this with our tech-help thread.

No doubt - people shut EVERYTHING down around here, even if it's only a little bit of ice.

Back to your regularly scheduled program.

You ice pussies...

Not me - I love it when it ices.  I live downtown near a freeway and it gets dead quiet when that happens.

I just wasn't expecting any today is all.

No harm in sharing that kind of stuff...

I batted .667 today - 2/3.

Do you think there will be ice today?

I talked to somebody who was finding stuff in Dallas (I am in between Dallas and Fort Worth) and he said they were ringing up as regular price.  But he did find EVERY figure he was looking for.  So there isn't even a trend we can find.

Moi?

Once I get the few figures from you - I'll be all caught up on Saga.  Odd considering how behind I was on the first 9 or 10 of these and how instantly caught up I am on the second half of them.

As with any OS, it seems more cost-effective for me to just wait until I get a new computer for any upgrade like this.

For me to go drop $200 (is that about right?) on something like this it would have to be significantly better, and while I don't know for a fact that it isn't, it's very likely that I won't be impressed enough to make me buy in at this point.

..Uh oh, if those things glow in the dark then forget it...do tatoos (any kind) glow in the dark?

I don't know about glow-in-the-dark, but I know a guy who got crucifixion scars tattooed on his wrists, in black-light ink.

He's got some issues, but that's neither here nor there.

It's not the quality... it's the size and placement.  [/i]

Exactly.

The other end of this is if someone gets some little discreet tattoo on their hip or ankle... which does nothing for me.
