Collections / Re: Finally took pictures of my collection...

Close.  I'm missing:

A-Wing Pilot
Han and Carbonite
Luke (Star Wars)
Leia (Star Wars)
Artoo (Star Wars)
Artoo (POTF)
Stormtrooper Luke
Yak Face
Blue Snaggletooth
And the Max Rebo Band.

And I want to replace the Warok eventually, his bow is repro (which I'm not cool with) and his belly is all yellow, because he's one of the few remaining SW toys from when I was a kid.

.

There are about 5 or 10 figures with stands - about 3 or 4 12" figures with stands.

Falls happen, but it's pretty rare thankfully.

Watto's Junk Yard / Anyone know anything about meteorites?
« on: July 24, 2006, 11:38 AM »
I decided that I wanted to buy one - I'm shopping on ebay, lots of different sizes, compositions, weights, etc... are available - many with documentation or from seemingly repubtable sellers who have sold LOTS of them...  Is there a market for fake meteorites?

I'm just wondering what I can know to be a little more informed before I buy one.  Rareness or material isn't very important to me, I just decided I wanted to have a space rock on my desk and my main concern is that it be real and preferrably larger than a pebble.

Anyone?

Thanks in advance.

You boast the greatest collection I have ever seen online or otherwise. That setup looks great. I've seen so many loose collections look like hell, but this one is just amazing.

Now tell me....how frustrated do you get when one figure just randomly lands on your keyboard? ;)

Thanks!   It doesn't frustrate me at all, that's my girlfriend's desk - bless her heart.

A sneak preview clone trooper fell into a coffee mug once - I found the gun but didn't find the trooper until 3 days later, his arms and legs were completely brown.

Fair enough.  Same reason I'm selling off some of my stuff - too much space taken up and too much money going elsewhere.  I can't compete with the army building prowess you have, so I'm opting for small squads and that'll have to do.

Again, just impressive.

Thanks Brent.   I've told myself that I'm participating in the great collector's challenge this year (without inhibiting my purchasing) to see what exactly I spend in a year.  My goal is going to be to reduce that number next year - and given the EU focus and some of the crap they showed at comic-con, it might not be too difficult to do.

Proof to my wife that I'm not nearly so nutty as others.  Impressive Rob, most impressive.  A little narrow on the focus but we can't all be perfect.

There's tons of other stuff I want to collect - namely Kotobukiya and Gentle Giant - but don't for money reasons, and space reasons.  Someday though.

I've also stopped doing 12" since Sideshow aquired it.  Their product is amazing and makes the line a billion times better, but I can't justify $50.00 on a 12" figure that I'm going to open anyway.  Most of the ones I have I bought at shows for less than $10.00 a piece...

I'd also like to collect horror movie toys like I used to - but there just isn't a place for them...  :'(

Thanks guys!

Wow!  Good stuff Rob.

How do you keep it so clean?

It's nearly impossible.  It looks pretty clean in the pictures because I just recently spent a large number of hours taking everything down, dusting it all, and re-assembling it.

3 weeks from now it will all be dusty again, and will probably collect dust until next year when I gather up the energy to do it all again.

I'm also going to shop around for some type of air purifier later this year to hopefully reduce the amount of dust in the room - but it's generally an uphill battle.

Bom Vimdin and the Tonnika Sisters are the best of what's left as far as I'm concerned...

But it will probably be a repainted Hammerhead.

Found #3 yesterday... but everything I've found has been crushed - so I'm still looking for one for the wall before I open too many more hopefully.

Anyone else want to vote before the season starts?   :P

Rob Vader's Starfighter wasn't made up, I think it was from that Dark Lord book.

EU, made-up... same thing to me. :)

My latest thinking on all of this is that I'm not going to buy hardly any of this EU stuff.

If I stumble across some of it in cheap bins at collecting shows, I'll fill in the gaps in the collection - but this has just about killed the completist in me.

And I'm glad about that at least.

It shouldn't be a big deal if you order early.

The Vintage Collection / Re: Willrow Hood Confirmed For '07!

ICMG has gone from in-joke between 6-7 guys at the old BHC to getting joked about by Hasbro.  We've come a long way, baby, but...we've only just begun

I think this is part of the problem... maybe they think the whole thing is a big joke.

And while it may have started that way, but it isn't.

The most telling part of that slide was the part that said 'we really listen' or whatever it said...

It only shows that they listen, and then they essentially don't give a ****.

8774
I'm sure they thought they were being funny, but they didn't realize that they were pissing off pretty much every long-time collector who would LOVE to see those figures (yes, all of them) made.
