Power of the Force 2 / Re: I just found a POTF2 Dewback @ WalMart
« on: August 4, 2003, 05:49 PM »
I've heard a rumor that you can still return toys to Wal Mart (if they ever sold it).

I believe someone from RS did that a long time ago, and it caused an influx of POTJ figures in his area during the Saga timeframe.

Maybe a fellow collector liquidated? Or maybe they were just cleaning out the back room.   :)

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Any other Fans of Ramen Noodles?
« on: August 4, 2003, 05:41 PM »
I remember back in the day I practically lived off those things. When I moved out for the first time, I was kind of broke....so it was about all I could consistently afford (besides free meals at whatever restaurant I or the girl I was dating at the time worked at).

These days, I always have that 5.00 costco 20 pack of them stashed in my cupboards. It's like a staple.

Gotta have em.

I put the seasoning in, then drain out about 90% of the broth and eat 2 packs like that as a dinner, preferably with some veggies or something added.

Some additions over the years (one at a time, or mix and match):

Frozen assorted veggies are the easiest. Just throw them in to the water at the same time as the noodles, right out of the freezer.

Pieces of chicken, hotdogs, pork or other tasty meat. Leftover rotisserie is always good.

Chili.  (Ewww....but try it.) Mix a can of cooked chili into the pot of drained noodles and you have a pretty good little dinner there.

Crackers, bread crumbs....whatever.

Finally

Eggs.  Just drop an egg or two into the mix as it's boiling. Stir it up a bit.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Will Madonna ever give it up?

I saw her play in Vegas a couple of years ago. Her stage show is absolutely amazing. She had wire effects, crazy dance stuff, and all sorts of video things going on. She's not the best singer in the world, but she can still sing.

As far as being "over" goes.....Her last album "Music" was one of her best ever. The great thing about her is she changes with the times.

Think about it. When most of us first started listening to her, she was cranking out hits we were too young to understand.....and even though it's been 20 years, she's still there. Still doing it. She's been pretty consistent during my lifetime.

I'd hardly throw her into the Cher category just yet.

But yes, her knew album isn't exactly the greatest. And that commercial is a little silly.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Worst CD you Bought...And Still Own
« on: August 4, 2003, 05:30 PM »
Oh my god, I can't believe you put Paul Abdul's Forever your girl up there. That was a great CD in it's time. Like 6 or 7 singles.....the rest of the songs weren't bad.

Sure it's dated, but back in the day...it was excellent.  Straight up, Forever Your Girl, Opposites Attract, Cold hearted snake....come on man. That album was so good they put out a crappy REMIX album of all the songs on it.

Hehehe.

Anyway, The worst CD I ever paid for would have to be:

Will Smith: Willennium.

Yes, I got it from Columbia House. I had bought every "Fresh Prince" CD before that, and always liked them (Even Code Red).....but I have had a little trouble adjusting to the Will Smith era.

Sure, "Big Willie Style" had such hits as Miami, Just the Two of Us,  the stupid Men in Black song and of course who could forget Getting Jiggy With It.....but something just wasn't right. He just wasn't "Fresh" anymore...and where was Jazzy Jeff???

SO, with Willennium, I bought it out of loyalty to my childhood, but alas...it was total crap.  That's the end of the Fresh Prince. Will Smith killed him.

I'm not even going to LISTEN to (let alone THINK about buying) his last one...."Born to Reign".

Now if only that site was instantaneous and streaming like in Enemy of the State. I'd have a lot of fun with that.

I don't know. I like the talking baby a lot better than some of their normal commercials, but he's nothing that interesting.

Does anyone remember the paper bag puppets advertising selling used CDs to the Wherehouse music store?

Now THOSE were funny.

I heard if I helped this Nigerian, Bill Gates would forward a cookie recipe to 5 of my friends, and then we'd all get a trip to Disneyland.

Is that true?

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Anyone who says otherwise is selling something.

Batman fought Aliens and Predators in the comics?

Jeez, I really don't know jack about these things. I thought it was a totally original concept.

They played this a few times at the Masquerade thing at Comic Con. It was pretty darn good.

I thought it was a very odd concept, but cool just the same.

You still do not have a set of Jango Fett baby wipes, or the Jango Fett Pogs.....so I am not impressed.

I believe it's not even 640*480.

My friend has one, and they are really cruddy resolution (but they look great on the phone).

I just want one because it's the gadget I don't have yet, and I'm feeling left behind.

Other Toy Lines / Re: RC Microsizers
« on: July 14, 2003, 05:00 PM »
I've never seen the mario kart ones. I got a little micro racer (I'm assuming it's the same thing) awhile back though. It's a fun little thing...but I haven't played with it in a long while.

I was thinking it would be fun to take one on an airplane, and run it down the aisles...but these days I bet that gets you in big trouble.
