Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Everything Rebelscum

Strange.  I was able to get on Cool Toy Review and the forums but not the main page.  I wonder if the volume of photos is making them crash.

Is it me, or did RS crash last night?  Have they exceeded their bandwidth limitations?  I know there are going to be demands on the site because of Comic Con, but WTF?

Really?  I could've sworn it was the same droid.  Go figure. ;D

Gentle Giant / Re: Gentle Giant Mini-Busts
« on: July 28, 2007, 03:38 AM »
Though I don't get very many of these - the Queen Amidala one looks like a winner and I will happily add that one to my collection.  Also, does anyone know when Princess Leia will be available to order?  I would have thought that one would have been up by now....

The Amidala isn't part of the mini-bust line.  It's part of the smaller Classics line which should be coming out in the next few months.  Amidala is in the second wave along with a Snowtrooper and Momaw Nadon.

Oh, and I got word that I am hooked up with Commander Cody!!!

I like the character selection in this wave.  An alien Senator/Seperatist, 2 droids and 2 Clones!  Who wouldn't be happy with a lineup like that?

Initial reactions?
-I've been hoping for the 2-1B ever since he showed up in ROTS.  Well done!  And I think a slightly less shiny repaint would be a nice offering for TESB fans.
-Po Nudo - Looks good enough for a Senator/Seperatist.  Hopefully he doesn't pegwarm.
-Octuptarra Droid - YES!  Finally something for all of my Galactic Marines to fight!  I just hope it isn't undersized to get it in a Basic Figure package
-Kashyyyk Trooper - Cool.  Glad that Hasbro is revisiting this sooner than expected.  I bought a few of the first version, but these will look much better.
-Commander Gree - Nice to see that they're probably using the Evolutions Clone as the basis for this one.  The leg holster/pouch is a nice touch.  And the helmet looks way better!  I also hope they have the backpack.

But I also get the feeling that we haven't seen everything in this wave.  They've only shown 5 figures and none of them are core characters.  And 5 figures is also a pretty small wave.  We only have 1 wave of 5 in the entire 2007 lineup.  Plus, almost every wave we get has some sort of core character slotted in the lineup.  Certainly that's the case with the 2007 line.  I'm thinking that maybe we'll get a Darth Sidious in this lineup, but that's just a prediction.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: 30AC Star Wars Comic Packs
« on: July 28, 2007, 03:16 AM »
Very puzzling that Hasbro is identifying this trooper as Able.  It's not Able at all.  This is Able.  He's a Phase 1 Clone Trooper that is older and has joined the Rebellion.

The Rebel that is packaged with Mouse (A Duros, btw) is actually Basso.

Other than that weird canon inconsistency the lineup looks cool.  Luke as Lt. Jundland is cool, and I had heard that Hasbro was going to use the Juno Eclipse sculpt again in that set.  The result looks alright.  This two-pack is really crying out for Hasbro to make a Tank figure now.

The WalMart wave is cool for the most part.  They're presenting Obi-Wan and Bail Organa the way they should have been initially in the Basic Figure line with the softgoods.  The Commander Keller & Galactic Marine look awesome, too.  As for the Marvel set?  Eh.

The sets that are due out next month look really nice, and I've been wanting that Dark Woman/A'Sharad Hett set since I saw it at C4.

I've been thinking that they would do a blue variant, too.  The head sculpt looks dead on.  Totally like Bodie Taylor!

9023
Ah, yes!  Very good to know that this is the Evolutions Clone Trooper (phase 1).

Oh, and BTW, Hasbro is calling this Wave 7.5, not Wave 8.

as much as i am excited for this wave...im still Pissed off at hasbro for screwing up on this years collection. 7 months in and still no wave 3 to be found at all!! this is ridiculous. how do they expect to release all of the rest of this years TAC? now we will be seeing tac until next year cutting into next years figures. heck at this rate i will be lucky to see wave 4.

They explained what the holdup was about at Celebration 4.  Their initial vendors on the coins seriously dropped the ball.  So much so that they had to find a new manufacturer for the coins AND implement the coin redemption program.  Their desire to do that signifies to me that they're trying to do right by us rather than ship shoddy product.

The Legacy Collection / Re: New Evolution Sets
« on: July 27, 2007, 09:02 PM »
AWESOME NEWS!  I like the character choices, too!  The only picking points?

-SITH - I might have gone with Vader (Order 66 / pre-Mustafar duel) for this set, with angry face, Sith eyes, etc over another shirtless Darth Maul.  But that POTJ figure did have some serious issues.

-JEDI - NJO Luke, huh?  When I first saw the character listing I was hoping for a Death Star 2 Luke.  Other than that I think it's a really cool set.

Some Comic 2-Packs I'd like to see?

-Jedi Master Tyvokka & Senator Ranulph Tarkin - The Stark Hyperspace War
-Cade Skywalker & Force Spirit Luke Skywalker - Legacy
-Darth Krayt & Darth Talon - Legacy
-Wolf Sazen & Darth Nihl - Legacy
-Force Spirit Darth Bane & Force Spirit Darth Nihilus - Legacy
-Micah Giett & Lilit Twoseas - Jedi Council - Acts Of War
-Jedi Lord Hoth & Sith Lord Kaan - Jedi VS Sith
-Darth Bane & Darth Zannah - Jedi VS Sith

Finished the book this afternoon.  It was incredible!  What a way to end the series.

Harry's sacrifice shed so much light on how Lily sacrificed herself for Harry at Godric's Hollow.  And Harry's choice to go back and finish Voldemort was really inspiring, especially with the way he was able to protect everyone at Hogwart's.

Snape's story was honestly kind of sad.  He became so much more of a sympathetic figure when Harry took his thoughts and viewed them through the Pensieve.  We all knew that Dumbledore trusted Snape, but to finally know why was good.  It just seemed so tragic, but he did the right thing in the end.

Neville shone so much despite his few appearances in the book.  Leading the resistance against the Carrows at Hogwarts, and keeping the DA going.  His Gran coming to help out with the defense of Hogwarts.  And then to have Neville draw the sword of Griffindor from the sorting hat, and destroy the final Horcrux, Nagini?  Neville truly lived up to his family name.  And for him to become the professor of Herbology at Hogwarts seemed perfect.

Most of all?  I'm happy to see that JK Rowling has left the possibility of revisiting the wizarding world open.  Certainly the stakes will probably never be as high in future stories, but I'm sure there might be a wealth of stories left for the future.

Very nice work Robo Quack!  I really like your paint work, and the debris on the bridge looks good.

That diorama is screaming out for a few things:
1)  Ki-Adi Mundi
2) Commander Bacara
3) Maybe a Crab droid
4) MORE TROOPS!!!!

And what Hasbro should take into account?
-An Octuptarra Droid
-A UT-AT

I really like this ship, and the new pics of the deco and figures seals the deal for me. The $30 price seems very fair, and if the R5 unit in the ship was removable, I'd be planning to buy two of these nice ships.

I hear you about the droid slot.  It's definitely a curious situation about that, but explainable.

I have a vintage Y-Wing.  The droid slot works, but only with the vintage R2-D2 and R5-D4.  But I got clever and decided to try to make a modern R2 unit fit.  I had custom painted some R2's from POTF2, and decided I wanted to get one of them into this Y-Wing.  But the legs/feet are just a little too wide to fit in the vintage droid slot.  So I shaved them down along the sides until finally it would squeeze into the Y-Wing.  Let me tell you, it's a tight fit!

So what are the practical solutions?  Hasbro would have to do one of two things to make a functional Y-Wing droid slot happen:

1)  Retool the vintage vehicle molds.  It's just not designed for a modern era astro droid figure.  This would be the ideal solution but also the most expensive.

2)  Come up with an R2 unit that is designed specifically to mate with the vintage size droid slot.  It's doable but would require a new basic figure tool.

Scored a couple of VTAC Snowtroopers at clearance price this morning.  Gotta love Target!
