**** Peyton Manning and the Colts.  I'm rooting for the Bears.  Will they win?  Probably not, but I'm hoping.

I guess getting knocked out in the AFC championship game smarts more than the Bears totally embarassing the Pats in 1985, huh?

Congrats to the Colts. It was a tight game in the first half, and after that the Colts came out firing and Rex Grossman showed his true nature.  He wasn't even an effective "game manager" like the illustrious Trent Dilfer of the 2000 Baltimore Ravens.  And surprisingly the Colts D was really pumped up tonight and was stopping the run.  And then factor in just how much losing Cedric Benson hurt the Bears gameplan.

Wow, it seems downright balmy in the NY metro area at 15 degrees fahrenheit.

But -58 F, huh?  DAMN.  The lowest I ever dealt with was -28 F with no windchill.  That physically hurts.  A lot.

At almost all of the stores I've gone to where there are cases out on the floor I've had success.  And if you ask an employee if it's alright they're usually fine with that.  It's less for them to have to put out on the pegs later on.  Make sure you through in things like "excuse me", "please", "miss", "sir" or "thanks" and you're almost guaranteed to make out alright.

As a matter of fact, my score of about 20 figures a couple of days ago came from just that.  There were a couple of cases there and the employee was fine with me taking the figures since it lessened what she had to put out later that night.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: "Battle of Geonosis" Battle Pack
« on: February 4, 2007, 09:14 PM »
Hasbro addressed the how's/why's they sometimes don't give the mix everyone thinks is "ideal" in their battlepacks in a recent Q&A...  It has to do with what molds are at what factories and things.

I've heard them address this firsthand at Toy Fair and other events where Hasbro exhibits.  They've most commonly addressed this when we talk about Basic Figure reissues and you start to understand why one version of a character is chosen over another that collectors might consider to be superior.

But this particular situation seems to me like a case of Hasbro's exclusives group not communicating with their general retail group.  There are actually some divisions within Hasbro along these lines.  It seems to me as though these groups were not communicating when they were planning out the general release battle packs and the exclusive ones.  Especially when you consider all of the Jedi that were in the arena battle that have figures besides Aayla Secura.  Look at this:
-Anakin Skywalker
-Kit Fisto
-Plo Koon
-Saesee Tiin
-Luminara Unduli
-Barriss Offee
-Ki-Adi Mundi
-Mace Windu
-Coleman Trebor
-Shaak Ti
-Pablo Jil
-Sora Bulq
-Agen Kolar
-Nikto Jedi (either version)

With that many characters at their disposal that are ready for reissue, this just comes across as very lazy on Hasbro's part.

Finally saw this set yesterday.  I like all of the figure choices for this general release battle pack.  Well, all of them except for one.  WHY IN THE SAM HILL DID HASBRO PUT AAYLA SECURA IN THIS BATTLE PACK WHEN SHE'S ALREADY IN THE FELUCIA ONE?!?! Stupid Hasbro.  You've got umpteen different Jedi in the arena battle, many of who have been produced before.  Why issue the same Aayla Secura in two different battle packs that are on the shelves at the same time?

I finally took the Kubricks plunge today and bought the 2005 TRU Japan 5-pack.  It was just too cool to resist.

Tinally got a Titanium C-3PO today.  It was at a comic shop price, but this piece has been so scarce that paying another $7 for it seemed like it was saving me some time and trouble in finding it.

Probably the best character for a height comparison in this image is Dengar, because he's only a foot or two closer to camera than IG-88.  The other Bounty Hunters are signifigantly closer so it would make it hard to compare their heights.  It looks like the top of Dengar's head should be about even with IG-88's shoulder if they were all standing on the same level.  I hope the figure is pretty tall as a result.  IG-88 looks almost Wookiee tall.

Hmmm.  I have two days off.  Road trip to Canada?  ::)

Last night I filled for $1.95 a gallon.  It's a little better than where prices have been, but it's still a ridiculous price for gasoline.

Check the card inserts.  You'll find some information on the bottom of them regarding manufacturing in the UK.

Scores like that don't happen every day.  The last time I made a score like this was Midnight Madness in 2005.

One thing about the arrival of those 30AC figures in eastern Canada makes me wonder, where do their figures come from?  I know that Hasbro does some manufacturing in Europe.  And it's been fairly well established that Europe is getting the first 30AC wave, too.  So I have to wonder if some of Eastern Canada is supplied by the European factories.
