Anyone know what the deal with dvdrelease.com is?  They haven't had any content on their site for weeks now (months?).

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Saga Kit Fisto's Jedi Starfighter
« on: July 11, 2006, 10:34 PM »
Count me among those sick and tired of jedi starfighter rehashes...  we're up to like 6 of the E3 version (which averages out to a release of that sculpt once every 3 months or so) and 4 of this version.

Enough already.

Welcome Jeff.

I don't go into this section nearly as often as I should to welcome everyone, but it's great to see another one of the old gang over here.

Am I the only one who doesn't see what Phillip's physical style or particular choice of fishing attire has to do with anything?

I guess I probably am, but I don't think it's easy to stay on the high-ground when you're picking on him for his goofy pants instead of his ****** attitude with members of his site when confronted with anything.

The Legacy Collection / Re: Fan's Choice Returns
« on: July 11, 2006, 01:24 AM »
It's confirmed with scans from RS forum member DSIILuke...Number 1 was Quinlan Vos, who is already confirmed in an EU 2-pack, so the Number 2 pick will be produced..........Darth Revan! For those who want a link:

Fan Choice Scans

Given all of the available choices, that Darth Revan (who I'd never heard of until today (yes, because I wasn't paying attention to this fanchoice poll and haven't played the game he's in)) is the winner tells me one of two things:

1)  This contest is also rigged
or...

Nope, that's all it tells me.

Watto's Junk Yard / Has anyone tried PermaFrost for their A/C?
« on: July 11, 2006, 12:15 AM »
I heard a radio ad for this:

http://www.permafrostonline.com/applications/residential.php

And I have to admit, they're definitely saying a lot of things that I want to hear - my question though, is it snake-oil or does it work.

Anyone here tried it or looked into it in any depth?

Exactly roron, I've seen lots more people saying they voted for Bastilla or Malak than they voted for Revan.  That is what smells overly fishy about the whole thing.  I believe Vos won, I really do and its a figure I can throw in the Mos Espa scene or something.

Are you suggesting that a Star Wars fan voting event could be anything less than completely honest and valid!?  I'm shocked!   ???

Expanded universe won't do well for the same reason it never does well.  The fan base isn't there.  Hell, I've read almost all of the books and played most of the video games, and I'm not even interested in EU toys.  Kids who haven't read the books certainly won't be interested.  So you're starting off with only half of your customer base - and then subtract non-collectors like myself... it's a niche market at best.

So wait, it takes them several extra months to count the votes (despite them being counted as they were cast) and somehow the guy who was behind by how many votes (30?  50?) manages to win?

Complete, and total, bull****.

Must be a regional distribution thing... of my 12 (one carded) 10 were from Wal Marts, 1 from Target, and 1 from TRU.

To animate light like that you'd use Adobe Imageready and create an animated gif.  Basically you'd need layers for each possible frame that would exist and then you turn them on or off for each frame and tell it how long to leave each frame on screen for.

It's how I make all this kind of stuff:

If you want to go really crazy, Adobe After Effects has a lightning plug-in.  It doesn't look much like real lightning, but it certainly looks as much like lightning as the stuff shown in this thread - and it's much more malleable.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Gas Prices
« on: July 10, 2006, 02:19 PM »
Here's my question... oil hit another record high the other day, something like $75.78 per barrel.

But gas is still a little under 3$.

Is that because Exxon and the rest have decided that $3.00 is the magic number that takes people from being mad, to being furious and asking questions (read: Congress) or are there other factors involved?  It just seems odd that oil is at an all time high, but gas isn't.
