The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Recent Clone Wars Finds/Purchases
« on: May 20, 2012, 08:51 PM »
I scored the CW Boss & the new Obi-Wan today.  Good to know these are actually in stores in my area.

Great pics, Pete!  I was kind of hoping that there would be R5 parts that could build R5-U8 from Clone Wars, but that appears to not be the case.

Anyone have a red bandana Kithaba they are willing to part with?  I've had no luck tracking one of these down.  I'm willing to pay/trade heavy for it...

I finally saw several Kithaba's at retail last night, and all had the brown bandana.

How were the Evazan's (if there were any)? scar or no scar variant?

I only saw the no scar versions.

So is the pricing as noted in the Ultimate Orlando blog correct?  They noted it costs $11.95 to make one droid, or $18.95 for two.

The lack of OT ships of any sort on the shelves for such a long spell is still surprising me.

Ships in general are struggling more than the figures, they really collect dust. The Naboo fighter is going to be very hard to find me thinks.

Agreed on OT ships. I am ready for another 2 Snowspeeder repaints, a new Skiff and the ESB Slave 1.

I think at this point only 1 Snowspeeder repaint would fly at retail.  Do that with Snowspeeder Wedge & Janson and it would make a nice little exclusive!

ESB Slave I might be a little further off.

Gotta love google shopping, cheap shipping and NOT having to run around to stores.

Dr. Evazan - $13
Wedge Antilles - $13
Kithaba - $12
Luke Skywalker (Hoth) - $11.50
Anakin Skywalker (Clone Wars) - $10

Starfox is such a C lister that I can't see that happening.  Again to me the whole Pym deal should have been here and axed Black Widow and Hawkeye...then they could have added Vision and Wonder Man...

Starfox's deal has always been his tie-in with Thanos, without a doubt.  Without that link he's not that interesting of a character.  But the introduction of Thor has brought with it the concept of super-powered aliens.

The Ant Man movie may eventually lead to some sort of involvement with the Avengers down the line.  Although that's slated for 2014.  Will that be enough time before another installment of Avengers?

Well, Iron Man 3 is slated for 2013, and that's already shaping up to be interesting.  Captain America 2 & Thor 2 are both slated for 2014.  And there's also a new Hulk movie in development with Mark Ruffalo signed for the role.  With that kind of schedule, you've got to think that Avengers 2 could be about 3 years out at the very least.

On my first viewing I got the sense that the Chitauri leader was having a conversation.  Anything else would be seem like exposition for it's own sake.  The post credits scene just cemented that it was a conversation, and that it was with Thanos.

So in the sequel, I think we're left with some questions?  Do you introduce Starfox as well?

Having seen the movie, there are definitely some things I'd like to see in this line.  Will they happen?  Who knows.

BASIC FIGURES
Nick Fury - seems to be on the way, but when?
Captain America - new uniform, maskless (Helicarrier battle)
Thor - minus cape & armor
Loki - captive (minus armor)
SHIELD Agent Maria Hill
SHIELD Agent Phil Coulson (with Destroyer gun)
Chitauri warrior
Chitauri leader
Thanos

DELUXE FIGURES
Tony Stark with snap-on armor
Iron Man with cruise missile
Bruce Banner & Hulk

I was just re-watching the trailer, and I couldn't spot any astromech droids.  Some of the seatbacks in the Mandalorian ship cockpit look like some kind of a dome, but that's the closest thing I saw to an R2 unit.

A number of TRU stores in my area have hiked their TVC basic figure price to $11.49 per figure.  Not liking that at all.

I think "generic invading force" worked fine.  They wanted the cube.  Loki had it.  Why do we need to know much more about them?  They already had what - 8 major characters and a handful of minor ones to give motivation/depth too.  Throwing up more info on why the Chitauri want the cube to conquer the universe wouldn't add much, IMO.

I completely agree.  I guess I just question why they kept it so hush-hush.  It definitely did not detract from the movie in any way.

I just got home from seeing the movie.  First?  WOW!

Second, I think there will be more revealed about the Chitauri in a future installment of Avengers.  Especially considering the first credit teaser scene.  The Chitauri leader started the film conspiring with Loki.  At some point we may see more about Loki and how he was able to link up with the Chitauri, and their own motivations.

OMFG!  For Mariano Rivera's career to end like THIS would be criminal.  I think that the immediate reaction everyone has about "Why is one of the greatest closers of all time shagging fly balls?" is well founded.  But Mo has always been a real competitor and an overall great athlete.  When he has to cover 1st base, he's there.  When there's a tapper up the middle, he's THERE.  He has NEVER been a lazy fielder, and that's been one of the unsung portions of his game.  He's not just about the cutter.

I think every Yankee fan thought that this might possibly be his final season.  He's 42 years old, he's one of the greatest closers in MLB history, and he's sure to be a first ballot Hall of Famer.  And I don't think anyone aside from Jamie Moyer wants to be pitching into their mid to late 40's.  I think Mo is going to try to make a recovery so that he can leave the game on his own terms, but only after the 2013 season.

As for the circumstances of the injury -  how many ball players have gotten hurt because they got tripped up at that joint between the outfield grass and the warning track?  I've seen it on numerous occassions.

How many are you guys ordering?

I topped out at 4.  I just got annoyed with filling out the forms AND writing out the checks.  It's a painful reminder that most of my written communications are typed on a keyboard.
