30th Anniversary Collection / Re: 2008 Target Order 66 2-Packs
« on: March 27, 2008, 01:04 AM »
My local store had these in the stockroom.  But the clerk that I came across in my quest was either dense or lazy.  You pick one.  I left that store empty handed.  But seeing how these got marked down last year, I'm willing to be patient with these.

Hasbro said at Toy Fair that the 4 new Evolutions sets that are currently shipping will be reissued in the new, white Legacy packaging.

- Grand Moff Tarkin (SA/near SA)
- Obi-Wan Kenobi (SA, based off VOTC figure)
- Ponda Baba (near SA with removeable arm)
- Dr. Evazan (near SA)
- Jawa (TAC rerelease)
- Red Leader
- Commander Praji
- SA Rebel Fleet Trooper

If there are 6 figures, I'd throw out Praji and Red Leader

Wait...you would throw out 2 never before made characters (I don't count the Red Leader figure that was packed in with his X-Wing ;)  ), but you WOULD include a repack of the 30AC Jawa?  WHU?!?!

Not likely.  We're still about 3 weeks away from the scheduled on-shelf date.  I would expect stores to get the new Order 66 sets in about 2 weeks or so.

Had a nice Singha beer with Thai food at dinner, and some Guiness to round out the night checking out a couple of local rock bands.

It gets better with every successive viewing.  After a few screenings you'll feel compelled to go to the grocery store in your bathrobe.

It's definitely kind of dark/twisted to want a figure of a corpse.

I caught the first episode of this, but haven't seen the other chapters yet.  I hope I can catch up on it soon.

This is a tough one for me.  I'd have to put The Big Lebowski on top though.  It's just a fantastic film, and I think it's amazing at bridging the real and the surreal.  Plus it gives me an excuse to drink White Russians!

O Brother, Where Art Thou? is another favorite.  The music alone is great.  I listen to the soundtrack all the time.  But the story, characters and actors are a tremendous combination.  And somehow John Goodman manages to dominate his own scenes in the process.

Miller's Crossing was my own introduction to the Coen Brothers.  I didn't even know who they were when this came out.  But then I don't know if they were as well known as a directing team before Fargo came out.  Anyhow, I would put Miller's Crossing up as one of the great gangster movies of all time.  Perhaps not as epic as The Godfather or Goodfellas, but it seriously holds it's own against a lot of films in that genre.

I haven't seen No Country For Old Men yet, but I hope to soon.  I've heard such great things about the movie, and I regret not having seen it in the theater.

Any kind of Death Star set pieces would be nice additions.  I hope they're not just the doorways from the POTF2 Electronic FX figures as the basis for these.

Personally, I'd like to see the tractor beam station as the large accessory.  That's still one of my favorite pieces from the Vintage Death Star playset.

Just leave it in the X-Wing.  It's embarassing anywhere else.

Very surprising results on the AOTC poll.  And while I see the importance of Padme as a character, I don't see the fascination with so many Padme figures.  Certainly, I can appreciate the Natalie Portman hotness angle, but it doesn't translate to figures for me.

Padme hasn't been one of the better selling characers in the basic figure line.  I see far too many fireside Padme's hanging on the pegs.  And I still see the ROTS Padme that was repacked in the TSC Greatest Battles line hanging around in a number of stores.

I have no doubt that Padme is going to remain a fixture in the line for the years to come, just like Leia.  I can see a good 1-3 a year occupying the Basic Figure and multi-pack lines.  I don't think we're going to get all of these in a short space of time.  I think the Evolutions pack is a great offering and achieves a lot for Padme fans.  And I think the Arena Padme was the most natural AOTC choice for that set.  Unless of course Hasbro chose to revisit the Theed Battle Padme as the TPM/action-oriented offering.

Also, I see that there were a couple of resculpt candidates in the top ten.  I think I had one on my own list, but that was it.  It's a little disheartening to see those instead of never before made characters.  But it's a poll, and this is what people have voted for.
