Saga '02-'04 / Re: COULD THIS BE 2004 LINE UP!!!!!
« on: October 24, 2003, 02:32 AM »
This looks like a really cool list to me, I hope it holds up to be true.  I don't see a problem with that many Lukes, he seems to sell pretty well still.  Besides, they are all desperately needed versions, POTJ totally disregarded Luke figures to the point that it made me sick.

I'm sure we'll see another Vader come out in 2004 too, perhaps an Ultra version with his meditation chamber.

Kinda morbid, but would you all like to see another Anakin come out that is carrying his dead mother?

Saga '02-'04 / Even MORE Ultra figures
« on: October 24, 2003, 02:26 AM »
What are some more ideas that you all have regarding some more new ULTRA figures?  Here's a few to start, but I'm sure you all can come up with more ideas than this... but the rule is gonna be that we can each only come up with one item from each movie, that way everyone has a fair chance to come up with a new idea  Also, it might be an interesting twist if some of them came with variations; ie different figures to make for variety, especially for those that may come with army-builders.

Ok, for starters:

TPM - Wookie senator w/ Senate Pod (variation with other senators)

AOTC - ragged Shmi w/ Tusken Hut (no variation)

ANH - all new Death Star Trooper w/ circular Death Star control center (variation w/ new Death Star Gunner)

ESB - captured Han Solo (no jacket) with Bespin torture rack and new Ugnaught (no variation)

ROTJ - Crix Madine w/ holo Endor display and little Death Star that attaches to it (no variation)

I want Kitik pretty darn bad... I guess that the bidding wars with the Wookie are about to begin!

You know the first wave wouldn't have done so poorly if they had instead used all new characters...

Dressel, with that loose Clone deal we are doing, I think I can hook you up with a couple of carded Clone 3-pks.  I'll PM you again soon at rebelscum.

Whoa!  The second wave is out?  I'm actually kinda interested in the second wave of figures, particularly Assaj Ventress and Durge.  I think this wave might do alright at retail as compared to the first wave.

Besides, as least the second wave has 4 figures in it, not 3.  So there are slightly less of each figure to go around.

The more I indulge into this topic, the more I like it.  There really are some spectacular possibilities for this line as far as creativity, as long as they don't Batman-tize it.  Good analogy there Nicklab.

And Lando, you have some great ideas there too for figures.  As do you, Mainland05.

What I would really like to see them do is release a few more background characters.  It seems that all the regular carded figures are main charactes, does it not?

And of course an AT-TE, giant Spider Droid too.  And a Spider Tank would be a cool addition to the line as well!

Saga '02-'04 / Re: MORE NEW FOR 2004!!!!!!

Wow.... this looks like some nice variety by Hasbro with new figures, along with some much needed resculpts (Endor Han).

I really can't wait to see some pics of this stuff...

And too bad it's my bedtime (according to my wife), I'd like to comment more! ;)

Well, I don't necessarily think that this is a bad line of Star Wars figures.  I just think they screwed up with the first wave by only including 3 figures... now 6 figures would have been awesome, with two of each figure per case.  In other words, Anakin and Yoda wouldn't be warming pegs so much if there were less of them to go around, and especially if there were other characters in the mix to start things off (Assaj Ventress, Durge, Sae Sae Tiin, etc).

As things stand, I think this line still has loads of potential.  The 3-pks have been a success.  They sell well everywhere in the St. Louis area, with the exception of a few Droid Launchers.  The vehicles are cool too, every single kind seems to be selling extremely well.

Now if they do continue the non-animated line even further, here's a few suggestions for figures:

- Count Dooku
- Red Battle Droid
- Padme Amidala
- Aayla Secura
- Seperatist Mercenary

And of course a few more multi-pks

- Republic Senators pk
- Jedi pk version 2
- White Clones (all standing)
- OOM-9 w/ 2 Battle Droids

Aw what the hell, vehicles too

- Giant Spider Droid

That being said though, yes, this line could definitely hurt the SAGA line if Hasbro isn't v-e-r-y careful.

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: Clone 3-pk ...does it suffice?
« on: October 12, 2003, 11:24 PM »
If I could find some more, I certainly would! I have this goal of one day, sometime in the future, setting up a nice little workbench where I can customize and paint figures. Ah, to dream...

Customizing is a lot of fun and is one of my favorite things about the hobby (especially making dioramas).  If you ever get into it, I hope you post some of it for all of us to see. :)

My job involves quite a bit of travel, so I guess I'm lucky because this is what I've found so far:

White X6
Yellow X3
Green X2
Blue X2

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: As expected... PEGWARMERS!
« on: October 9, 2003, 11:53 PM »
Ugh... I knew this would happen.  The real problem in my opinion was only releasing 3 figures in the first assortment... it would have been much better if they had done something like this for the first wave, which has 12 figures per case:

ARC Trooper X3
Yoda X3
Anakin X3
Assaj Ventress X3

Or, even better yet:

ARC Trooper X4
Yoda X3
Anakin X2
Assaj Ventress X2
Red Battle Droid X1 (Clone Wars packaging)

Saga '02-'04 / Retail catching up to Online Shops?
« on: October 7, 2003, 12:47 AM »
Is it just me, or does it seem like it is getting more and more difficult lately to get solid cases online?  It seems that every time I check newforcecomics, they are cancelling more Star Wars orders.  Same with my figures I ordered from Kebco...

But at retail, especially Target stores, I have had more success lately.  I would say that August-September were great months for me at retail.  I have seen every figure at least twice, and have even been somewhat successful at Kmart and TRU.  Walmart has been another story though, save for some Clone bonus packs.

Has anyone besides me customized any of these yet?

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Hold the phone--"Deluxe" Rieekan?

$10 or not, I plan on getting at least 3-4 of them for that cool tactical display.  I'll do head swaps on my extra Riekens.  Wheeeeeee!
