NFL changes overtime format for playoff games
Team winning coin toss must score touchdown to win in sudden death

Honestly, I'm not liking it.  I think it should either be sudden death or a full OT quarter.  Anything else makes it look almost as ridiculous as OT in college football.

AMEN!!!!!! I hate gimicky rules

Eric Casilias (no idea how to spell his last name) was on ESPN today and he told this story:

He and his son were over at Eric's sister's house and she is a Yankees fan. She walks in on Eric's son drinking from the faucet from his cupped hands. She says "why don't you use one of my cups?" and he says "because they all have something about the Yankees on them".

I thought that was great.

The repainted Troopers a underwhelming, but the Kun/Droma set is what I love about the CP line. To get to add those big name Sith (if you're into EU) to your collection is awesome.

RIP CPs

The Vintage Collection / Re: Drop in Collector Interest/Figures?

I still am buying the way I have been for most of my colletcing life so the total I buy is the same, but with the stores being so dry what I find is I'm not as excited about Star Wars toys in between buys. So instead of thinking Star Wars all the time, I'm concentrating on something else I collect that I can actually find to buy on a relatively frequent basis.

I feel like over a long enough period of time I could say, " whatever, I'm not gonna hunt, I'll just buy when I'm in a store anyway if I see". So the down time in the middle could lower my interest in the long run if that makes sense.

I watched Hurt Locker this weekend. Very good, but of the three Oscar nominees I've now seen (District 9, Up, Hurt Locker) I put it third.

Sounds like a good reason for there to be a delay.

I picked the book up yesterday. Now I just need to find the opportunity to acually read it. I've got Darth Bane 3 waiting too.

Is this still a rerun tonight and does anybody know when they will start running new episodes again?

They were talking about the Vikings interest in LT on our local sports radio station today. I can't say I'd be against it, but I don't know if I can deal with having to listen to him whining about things all the time.

The "I'm a movie critic and I'm smarter than you moron viewers" is very annoying.

However, I seldomly see a Best Picture winner and think "that wasn't good". I had no want to see Slumdog Millionaire last year. Then I saw it and it was excellent. And this year, no matter how much people say Avatar was good, it does nothing for me. I still have't seen it.

And I am just naming stuff off the top of my head, but as far as box office success winning recentlyish: Return of the King, Forrest Gump, Titanic. I'm drawing a blank now, but it isn't like they poo poo everything popular to look "smarter" than us.

Sometimes I think they should have more catagories, like Best Drama, Comedy, Action, Sci-Fi. Dilutes the awards a bit, but really, Up was up for Best Picture and Best Animated... so if they can do a best animated catagory, then I think they can open it up a bit more.

I don't like that either because, like you said, it dilutes it way too much. I don't think any award show will ever be perfect, but I think the Oscars are as close as it gets. With that being said, I'm a huge movie buff. I love movies from the 30s, 40s, 50s, etc. So I think I may be biased myself the opposite direction if that makes sense.

I'll take movies winning that no one saw over the "Academy Awards" turning into the Grammys. If you want that then most of the other movie awards are for you (which I realize is partly what you are saying).

I'm not saying it has to go to whoever sold the most tickets, but why not remove all the bias and judge simply on the dimensions of the film itself.  I guess there is some risk that whichever movie sells the most tickets also ends up getting the award, but selling a boatload of tickets is generally an early indicator that the movie is pretty good.

Because it will never happen.  ;) And wow do I not agree with you "boatload of tickets generally" means it's good theory.

They really need to cut the other actors talking about the nominees right before the Best Actor/Actress awards.  That is terrible and huge waste of time

I'm a huge movie fan and blah blah blah, but no kidding. They are just actors. Let's not get too carried away about how meaningful these people are to the world.

Overall I thought it was a good show.

Of course it was too long. After it only ran from 7 to 10 last year I thought maybe they had turned a corner, but starting at 730 was weird and then having it be more than three hours was a bit much.
