Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: Help with casting weapons
« on: November 2, 2007, 08:37 PM »
Maybe before i get started, i should mold both my right and left hands...just in-case .
But seriously, it shouldn't be a problem. I've got a huge compressor that runs a 4 bay garage with hoists and all. The compressor tank is like 4 feet tall and 7 foot long and my boss just told me i could use his pressurized paint pot, it's kinda like a pressure cooker...it's got a gauge and the seal is still good. Thanks everyone!

Wow! would you believe i have two packs of valve stems, both rubber and the metal ones as well. Talk about luck...Thanks for the diagram, now i have to check the garage, i thought i saw a pressure cooker pot  around too long ago.

Patreek, What kind of pump do you use, is it an industrial type unit? Do you think i could pick one up for under a Bill? Sounds interesting, as i have experienced air bubbles messing up my molds.

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Help with casting weapons

Anyone have any hints/tips on mold making/casting weapons? I've tried to press a blaster into a clay bed, and it's really difficult to build the clay up to the parting line. Usually after I've tried to press the blaster into the clay, i end up with a low spot around the middle of the blaster. Do some of the clays vary in hardness?
If any of you have had successful results with casting in 2 pieces, could you share please. Thanks in advance!

They are really gonna eat it on this one considering i can't even find it on their site, you'd think they'd want some hype on this new product.
Anyone have a link that works?

Please excuse my ignorance, but i was wondering what a DPCI # was..
I know, I know...What a noob?
not that it would make much difference as the Target i go to is so poorly stocked.
Hope my post Isn't out of place here.

Collector's Tips / Re: The yellow plague...

Try a product called "Novus", I would suggest the one with the red label. Novus is a plastic polish available in 2 grits and if you buy a set it will include a bottle of anti static liquid polish that will keep your yellowed trooper looking good for a long time. i have yet to try it, but i have polished scratches out of clear plastic with the stuff.

Hello, I've been lurking for a while now, mainly because i don't have a decent digital camera right now(to post pictures of customs). My main reason for joining "JEDIDEFENDER " is for customs. I'm new to collecting and customizing, just learning all the abbreviations for all the figures is a chore for sure, let alone trying to find them at my local Wal- Mart and TRU.
What got me into collecting was the video game Republic Commando, i was looking up stuff on the net and came across the Republic Commando action figure set. After buying that set, it was over, my addiction was growing almost as if i had no control over it. A few Stormies here, a few Clones there, now I'm lookin' at around roughly 35 loose figures and around 25 figures still in packaging on my shelf. I'm sure all your collections dwarf mine, but I'm just getting started, go easy on me please! I'm currently working on a sniper rifle for "Sev", re-doing an Airborne Trooper, getting rid if the plastic skirt and swapping it out for a cloth one, adding straps and photo etched buckles and last but not least, my most ambitious project repainting a tie interceptor that will end up being red, white and black.
By the way, i found JEDIDEFENDER through "Rebelscum" and thought I'd join since you guys really seem to have the latest news scoops.Apologies for not having a Star Wars related handle.......I'm manglord on every board i visit, just makes it easier for rememberin' passwords and all. Thanks for reading my long boring post guys! Later...
