30th Anniversary Collection / Re: 2007 Star Wars Comic Packs
« on: May 15, 2007, 12:33 AM »
Holy ****! What a difference a paint job makes... I just realized that the ARC's rifle is the exact same one as the rifle that came with the Clone Wars ARC in 2003. I thought it was different the whole time.

I also opened the other two packs today:

Luke/R2 is a good set. Luke is about the same as Han, and I like how they added a "rusty" paintjob to the E-11.R2 is really cool, and like Chewie in the Han pack, can be used as a completely different astromech. My one complaint is that Hasbro used ****** bendy plastic for R2's legs, so it's more like a repaint of the astromechs from the Final 22, not R4-G9 (who had strong plastic used in his legs).

Vilmarh/Vos... cool set overall. The lack of leg articulation sucks, but everything else about them is cool. When I first saw the prototypes, I thought they looked too skinny and the sculpts looked bad but in person everything is much better. Vos and Villie are quickly becoming two of my favorite figures.

Overall I'd say that every set in this wave is a winner. If you passed on Wave 1, do yourself a favor and at least pick up the ARC/Obi and Vos/Villie packs.

I picked up all three sets from Wave 2 today, but I've only opened the Kenobi/ARC pack. It f'ing rocks. Kenobi is an updated version of the ROTS Pilot figure, and the headsculpt was tweaked to give him more of an AOTC look. Looks fantastic, it's almost the perfect AOTC Obi-Wan we've been waiting for. The ARC Trooper is based on the Evolutions ROTS Clone and is 1000000000000% better than the Clone Wars version. It'd be cool to see a Red repaint released in the basic line with dual pistols. If you see this set, grab it, it'll go quickly. I want a few more sets just to have a set of ARCS from the Clone Wars cartoon.

No sign of these yet, or any Comic Packs for that matter. These were common all over around February/March but all were sold and never restocked. The pegs marked for them hold Titaniums, Galactic Heroes, and Basic Figs. I hope Wave 2 is able to come in, because these figures look great.

Happy birthday!

I'll pick up a few of the Poncho Clones and the R2-B1. I guess I'll get the Rebel and the Rodians if they look good enough. But the rest can...

[Cartman]... get the fudge out![/Cartman]

So I have an hour yto kill today and check out a Wal-Mart in the area (that's only been open for 2 months) and all I find is stuff from the HOTH AND CORUSCANT WAVES. How the **** did those get here? However, said WM also had the new Titaniums, Sith Infiltrator, and the V-Wing (which I stashed for purchase later).

It was a relief to not see any Jerjerrods or Ewok Throne 3POs but crimany, I haven't seen new 30AC stuff in months. Getting VERY sick of TSC...

Random thoughts with *SPOILERS*

Saw it on Friday, I'd rank it below 2 (honestly, how can you beat SM2?) but above 1. I did think Venom didn't get enough screen time but what they DID do with him was very cool. I can look past him speaking in first person too.

They did well with Sandman, I liked his whole story. At first I was pissed that they were going to have him be the one who murdered Uncle Ben but I think they pulled it off nicely, and I was pleased.

Topher was great as Brock, and I enjoyed Gwen Stacy... I thought she'd be way too much for the plot but they handled her nicely. I wouldn't mind seeing her return.

Evil Peter RULED. I need those dance moves. Now.

SPOILER response to BillCable's earlier post:
Venom isn't dead, we never saw a body, and in comics if you don't see a body he ain't dead. Even if he's dead, that piece of the Symbiote Conners has could go to the site and get Brock's DNA and become Venom again.

Freeze Dried Movies.com has a rumor up for who will be the villains in Spider-Man 4.  Its probably way too early to know who will appear, but I thought I'd post the rumor for who's interested.  I don't know if listing the characters is spoiler material for some people or not, so I'll just leave the link.

Oh dear, I hope that's just a rumor. Lizard would be cool, but Carnage was a completely different symbiote (plus they'd need a full movie with at least an R rating to do Carnage right). And Black Cat does nothing for me.

4003
1. SA Obi-Wan Kenobi
2. SA Naboo Soldier
3. SA Captain Panaka
4. SA Jar Jar Binks
5. Queen Amidala (Pre-Senate)
6. Queen Amidala (Post-Senate)
7. Kitster/Wald 2 pack
8. SA Gungan Soldier
9. SA Padme Amidala (Battle of Theed)
10. SA Battle Droid/ROTS Battle Droid made with good plastic

Yeah, number 10 is rumored, but what we're getting is crap. I want a Battle Droid that can hold a blaster with both hands AND be able to stand on its own.

Awesome pics CHEWIE! Can't wait to see the new stuff.

Also, I recently restarted my Sith Revelations photonovel. Chapter 7 can be viewed HERE.

To the citizens of Trideeno, it is an ordinary day. There were rumors that some Star Destroyers were spotted in the area but the people are not scared.

But that all changes when they see a Trideeno Starfighter, with a man hanging onto the back, zooming around the city at high speeds.

The pilot soon tires of the city and tries to eliminate the threat by flying near cliffs and lakes in the countryside.

This plan has little success, as the enemy, Luke Skywalker, continues to hold on. The pilot decides that the only way to get rid of Luke is to fly into space.

As the Trideeno Starfighter climbs in altitude, Luke is able to get a grip on the ship with his foot.

With more support, Luke is able to use his lightsaber to open the hatch of the starfighter. The ship's altitude falls rapidly as the pressure in the cockpit drops.

The pilot, not wearing his safety belt, is sucked from the cockpit as Luke is finally able to retract his lightsaber.

Luke gets into the cockpit and attempts to regain control of the fighter.

Luke gets the fighter's status back to normal just before he crashes into a cliff. He turns the fighter around and heads back toward the city.

Back at the Trideeno capitol building, the fight has moved to a skybridge linking Capitol Hill with the landing bay. Security has locked the door to the hangar, trapping Leia, Lando, and Chewie.

A blaster shot hits Leia's lightsaber hilt, knocking it from her hand. The New Republic forces are defenseless.

TRIDIA FORGS: Drop your weapons!
STOMAH TALOS: Surrender and we may go easy on you.
BARON SAMEDI: I won't be going easy on the Jedi. prepare to suffer a fate worse than death!

Suddenly an explosion knocks out part of the wall, causing a few Stormtroopers and Trideeno Senator Tridia Forgs to fall to their deaths.
TALOS: TRIDIA! NOOO!

A Trideeno Starfighter lands on the bridge. The confused Remnant leaders flee before any more damage is caused.

The starfighter's hatch opens and Luke Skywalker pops out.
LEIA: Luke! You're alright!
LUKE: Leia, help me cut open a door into the hangar.

LANDO: What about Han and Elick? Where are they?
CHEWIE: Rerawwwww!
LUKE: They're outside Dralco's mansion, I can feel it. Come on, we don't have much time!

The New Republic leaders run to the Falcon...

... but are suddenly cut off by Sivart Dralco who jumps in front of the entry ramp.

SIVART: This is where your journey ends, Jedi.
LUKE: Sivart, not you too! How could you betray us like this?

SIVART: The only betrayal was by Darth Vader. If it weren’t for him, you and your Rebellion would have been slaughtered at Endor. Now it looks like I’ll have to finish the Emperor’s job myself.

Sivart ignites two lightsabers, prompting Luke and Leia to ignite their own.

A duel begins as Lando and Chewie sneak inside the Falcon.

The battle is fast and furious, with Sivart gaining the upper hand on several occasions.

The duel continues as Lando and Chewie start up the Falcon.

Sivart forces Luke to the ground as Leia charges at him.

As Leia fights with Sivart, Luke gets up...

... and Force Pushes Sivart to the ground. Luke and Leia use this as an opportunity to escape.

Luke and Leia quickly board the Falcon as Sivart gets up. He has no choice but to look on as the Falcon flies away.

Inside the lounge, Luke and Leia console each other.
LUKE: I can’t believe the Dralcos are running the Remnant. It was right under our noses the whole time. How could we have not seen it?

LEIA: The Sith mask themselves well. I sensed something the moment we got here, but I didn’t know what. But we need to focus on getting Han back.

LANDO: We have a lock on Han’s location. They’re inside an old Trade Federation MTT.

The Falcon zooms in on the MTT, which is accompanied by a Juggernaut.

CHEWIE: Raaaaar!
LANDO: Juggernauts? I didn’t think they still made those.

The Juggernaut fires a barrage of missiles and laser fire at the Falcon. Lando and Chewie do their best to avoid the fire, but are hit one too many times.
LANDO: We’re taking too much damage. We have to retreat!

The Falcon pulls up and begins to leave the planet. Suddenly, a blue shield slowly begins surrounding the atmosphere.
CHEWIE: Rerooor!

LANDO: I see it! They’re activating the planetary shield! Put all power toward the thrusters!
The Falcon speeds up and, in a tense moment, barely escapes through a small hole in the shield, which closes just after the Falcon exits.

LANDO: That was too close. Now we have to avoid the Imperial fleet.
The Falcon is able to avoid a few Star Destroyers and enters hyperspace.

Inside the MTT, Robilus Dralco decides to check on his prisoners.

HAN: So, Dralco, you’re the Sith lord. I bet you feel like a real winner, capturing a smuggler, some droids, and an old man.
ELICK: Old?

ROBILUS: Quiet. I captured you for a reason. You see, I’ve put the planetary shield up. Nothing can enter or exit Trideeno without being destroyed. The shield has to shut down to regenerate once every seventy-two hours. That is likely when the Republic will bring their entire fleet to invade, and Skywalker will more than likely try to rescue you. Little do they know that we have the full Remnant fleet surrounding the planet, mobilized and ready for any attack. And with all the firepower we have on the surface, the Republic troops stand no chance.

ELICK: You, sir, are nothing but a coward!

ROBILUS: Silence! I should mention that you all serve a bigger purpose than bait. I just hope you have the right answers to my questions.

Dralco walks away leaving Han and Elick both confused and angered. C-3PO looks at R2-D2.
THREEPIO: Artoo, do you remember the incident on Jabba’s Sail Barge?
ARTOO: Bweep bwoo bwap!

THREEPIO: I’m afraid this will be worse.
R2 chirps a nervous whistle as the Remnant convoy drive towards a secluded area.
