Things may not be over yet.  ESPN is reporting that the owners and players have agreed on a $45 million cap.  They are having more meetings tomorrow.  The regular season will be shorter than the playoffs, but some NHL hockey will be better than nothing.  Maybe they should have free games for a week to get the fans back.

That scene reminds me of the Luke/Vader ROTJ battle.  Lucas loves using similar stuff througout his movies, doesn't he?

The glimmer of hope has dimmed.  The greediness of the owners and NHLPA have just about killed the NHL as we know it.  I won't be surprised if several teams fold now.  The Florida teams are in trouble, Ottawa and Buffalo are in trouble and there are at least five or six more that aren't making money.  Dallas was making money the last I heard.  They can stay.  Atlanta and Columbus are new, so I think they deserve a few years at least.  It's harsh to kill teams off, but necessary if pro hockey wants to survive.   A smaller league with less teams would help the quality of play as well.  The talent will not be spread as thin as it is now.  Rule changes should be made to increase scoring.  The smaller pads and wider arena sound good to me.  Why can't the league see that they will never be a true major sport?  Stick with the regional roots and maybe a few exceptions for the good of the league.  The NHL can work.  It has for a long time until idiots got involved.  It can work again.

It looks like we may have a shot at a season after all.  ESPN is reporting that the players have agreed to a salary cap, although a higher one that the owners want, and the owners dropped one of their revenue issues.  They are closer than they've been.  Hopefully they work something out in a day or two.

They were reactionary and will regret dumping Flip IMO.  I suppose Taylor told McHale to do something or it would be his job.  I think the Wolves would have been better off getting rid of McHale or making a trade.  McHale is a great guy, but he's done nothing good for the team since he's been here.  Who has he drafted that turned into a player?  Look at what the Spurs have done since McHale has been in charge.  Several rings, and they still manage to draft good players.  McHale was the problem, not Flip.

Scott,  though we've never met, I consider you a friend.  You're the reason I came to the GH forums and then here.  Best wishes to you and your family.  Don't be a stranger.

I also just heard about your accident.  I'm glad to hear your family is going to be fine.  I hope things work out for you and you still stop in here to check in and let us know how things are going.

The set in DSJ's pictures looks a lot like the Death Star 2 Emperor's Throne Room where Luke and Vader have their duel.

I think it's been a long time since there has been a really good Simpsons episode.  It may be time for them to find some new writers.  Or maybe there aren't any more situations to put the family into.  It's hard to say.  Last night's show was not horrible.  It had it's moments.  The CBG thing could have been funnier.  I liked the Mario/Homer Kong thing.  The Pac Man wedding was kind of funny, too.  But overall, the show is not what it used to be.  Family Guy is way better.  American Guy needs work.

TO really did a great job.  I don't care for the guy, but at least he played his heart out.  The Eagles shouldn't feel embarrased at all.  This was a game worthy of the name Superbowl.

Sammy will bring in the crowds for Angelos.  Maybe he'll stop whining about the Nationals infringing on his territory.  Maybe not.  I think Sammy will still hit his share of HR, but it won't help the O's.  They just don't have the pitching.  The Cubs will be better off without Sammy.  He was a cancer in the clubhouse.  It was time for him to move on.  I think Jeromy Burnitz will offset most of what they lost with Sammy gone.  They need another hitter to replace Alou, though.  The Cards will probably win the division again.
I hear you about the Twins.  The Vikings were a huge letdown this year, the T-Wolves are becoming one, there is no Wild.  We need the Twins to win the division again.  Hopefully Morneau lives up to his reputation and the Twins have a guy hit 30 HR for the first time in forever.  It's embarrasing that they've gone so long without one.

Oops, that Target made a mistake.  George's lawyers will come down hard on them now.  ;)
I remember when I worked at Target back in 1999 we had the TPM figures in our stockroom just gathering dust for a few months.  I had to crack them open and take a look, of course.  We couldn't buy them at that point because they weren't entered into the computers.  Actually, some stuff like the 12 inchers and the Maul w/speeder bike weren't ringing up they day they came out.  I worked that day and it was nice because I was able to grab what I wanted without dealing with a mad rush.

I was finally able to find a JLU Atom at a Target.  He's a terrific figure.  They also had the new 3 packs.  I picked up the Superman/Amazo/Starman pack.  I might grab the Red Tornado pack later.  I'd really like to see them make Black Canary into a figure.

I probably will pick up the greenshirt pack even though I am disappointed in their goofy heads.  They have to stop making figures with facial hair.  The bodies will be good for custom fodder.  The heads will be smashed with a hammer.  The CG packs shouldn't each have a Firefly.  I'm sick of seeing that figure.  It's probably not really him, but still, they could have replaced him with another CG or a CGI.  I can't say that I care for the body used for the twins, either.  I will just pick up one of those packs if I see it.
