Rogue One / Re: Rogue One Imperial AT-ACT Set
« on: December 14, 2016, 01:37 PM »
I got the Toys R Us near where I work to price match to the $199.97 price and picked up two of them. The bonus to doing it this way is that I was able to pick one off the shelf that was in decent/near-mint shape for the one I'm leaving MIB.

I had been dreading this purchase, and I'm glad to have it over with. While I dislike how they've handled the 3.75" TBS line, kudos to WalMart for seeing that this item is ridiculously over-priced at the $300 MSRP and have done all of us interested in getting this item a solid by having it posted on their website AND in stock at 2/3 the MSRP.

I am interested to see this in action. The driver figure is a great sculpt, I hope there is going to be a cheaper way to get a couple more of them eventually.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Spider-Man Joins the Marvel Movie Universe

The only odd part is RDJ as Iron Man in a Sony film - I knew he was in it, but figured it was a cameo.  Sure looks like a much bigger role.  I'm a little surprised that Sony gets to use IM, but apparently Marvel negotiated creative control of the film, so it's a lot more like a Marvel Studios movie released under the Sony name.

That's why in the trailer you first see the Sony logo and then you see the Marvel Studios logo. Sony distributes the picture, Marvel Studios gets creative control and makes a Spiderman movie that fits into their larger MCU story, Sony gets a new Spiderman trilogy out of the deal and down the line Marvel gets Spiderman in their other MCU movies.

It was a smart move by Sony. Just look at the "by Studio" indices over at Box Office Mojo and compare the Disney juggernaut verses Sony/Columbia. The top three pictures of Disney made $1.26B (Finding Dory, Civil War & Jungle Book), the top three Sony pictures made $332M - and those three movies are Ghostbusters, Angry Birds and Sausage Party - a poor-to-mediocre reboot that got widely panned and two computer animated movies.

Considering that this is Spiderman and not Doctor Strange or Antman, there is a solid chance that Spiderman: Homecoming will bring in at least $300M which is a win that Sony VERY desperately needs.

AWESOME!  I've been wanting some of these Clone Wars R5 units for a while.

The best part?  We're going to Disney next year, and I can finally pick up some of these in person at last.

You going for Celebration Nick or at a different time?

I answered the same way - I collected the 6" TFA stuff (except for the TIE Fighter) so I wanted to be honest that I have selectively collected those - but I was over-joyed when I got to select the next price-range down from MSRP on how much I typically pay for them as there are very few I've paid $19.99 for - most of them time, they are on sale and the store is flooded with them and has marked them down to get rid of them - I just grabbed Resistance Base C-3PO and Helmet-less Kylo Ren for $16 from a local WalMart. Whereas, I was happy to pay full retail for the 8 3.75" Death Troopers I have been able to find so far.

You're right though, the 3.75" questions were few and far between, but I made it pretty clear that I am not interested in collecting the 6" line long-term, which is the truth. Probably means they'll throw out my answers, but I figure it was worth a shot.

Here's hoping they get an overwhelming number of 3.75" for that "which scale" question...

I'd say these could hit in a month or so.  :-X

As I will be there over Xmas it would be a nice treat if this set was there for me to purchase then, but I doubt it....

Why does the middle one have teeth?

I think that's how he was deco'd in The Clone Wars...

Since there is the hat peg hole, would be kind of neat if they made a blaster pistol "hat" for him.

Any time-frame for when these are going to be released? Are they going to be all in one set or individually carded?

What a great season finale. While it did wrap up a lot of the threads (and theories), I am super interested in seeing where the story goes next. I will refrain from any further commenting since there might be some folks who haven't seen it yet.

Found this at the Toys R Us near my work this morning. Since they're running the BOGO40%Off right now, it was as good a time as any to grab this set. Unfortunately, nothing has been done to improve on the paint apps of the Cassian Andor figure, I had to go through the entire case-worth of them to find two worth purchasing.

Yes, the price is $18.84 and the package itself is a bit wider than the regular two-pack, when I found them at my local store, they were put into the space reserved for the 2-packs but were all at an odd angle because there wasn't enough room for them to fit horizontally in the space. Kinda sad.

I would not be surprised at all if the October 23rd premier of this next season of TWD has LOWER ratings than last season.   I honestly hope it does...

I predict you're going to be hugely disappointed.  Whoever died is going to be spoiled within seconds on social media.  No person who watches the show is going to want that information spoiled.  So I'd expect the premiere to get the show's highest ratings.

Ok - so I was off by a couple of episodes, but TWD, according to this article, has now hit series low ratings...

Good job on that cliff hanger that just pissed people off AMC/Gimple. Seems like you guys here on JediDefender aren't liking it that much either. I totally watch Westworld now and maybe catch little bits here and there when my wife is watching it - she herself has moved into "Hate Watch" territory like we both are with Fear The Walking Dead.

Rogue One / Re: Rogue One 3.75" Wave 2
« on: November 29, 2016, 01:17 PM »
FINALLY found this wave over the past three days. On Sunday and Monday I was lucky to find most of what I needed at Target stores while they were running the 15% on all in-store purchases promotion and then this morning after getting nothing since Farce Friday, my local WalMart finally got in Wave 2, the lame WalMart 3-pack and the exclusive 6" Scarif Trooper.

Glad to be "caught up" for now. I wonder if the Andor/Scarif 3.75" TBS figures are going to hit before Xmas...

Spoilers ahead, so watch out -

At this point, I'm 100% behind the fan theory that Logan = Young version of Ed Harris/Man in Black.  Not sure how it's going to play out, but there have been so many hints and signs leaning that way.

Last weekend's episode was pretty good.  Still not sure whether I'm watching this show for anything more than the music and shoot-outs, though.  Still giving it a chance to build into something though...

Interesting, I've been thinking that William = Young Version of Man in Black and that we're actually seeing THREE different time periods all at once, they are:

  • William and Logan go to the park, Logan's family is going to invest in it, we're on a path to something pretty bad happening (The "Past")
  • Man in Black (older William) has been coming to the park ever since his brother-in-law took him and he's been going back because his brother-in-law died back in the past and at this point he's just about done everything there is to be done in the park so he wants to go deeper, perhaps because he himself is dying - maybe even that he's under the assumption that the maze can lead to his own consciousness being transferred into a host body. I also think that this is the timeline where Maeve is doing her thing (The "Present")
  • Delores has been through so many loops and so many different roles in the park that, perhaps thanks to Maeve, she herself is now on the path to enlightenment via the maze and the voice she hears is William/Man in Black who achieved his goal of a form of immortal life in this time period's past (The "Future")

I was always curious whether or not this show was a continuation of the original movie or if it was 100% it's own thing and I believe now that it is indeed 100% it's own thing, with the William/Logan story-line basically being a re-enactment of the first movie, perhaps even with the twist that it is right after the death of Ford's partner, Logan is part of the family that owns the Delos corporation and the event that is referred to happening "30 years ago" involves William and Logan during their jaunt in the park.

Of course this is all just speculation on my part, but I think that's why I like this show so much, the story is engaging and moving along at a pretty nice pace and there is no shortage of mystery to keep you guessing and theorizing what is actually happening.

Nice - glad they went three each of Cassian and Scarif Trooper in this case just like the original Jyn/Death Trooper case.
