The Original Trilogy / Re: Anything give you the willies??
« on: August 13, 2005, 10:35 AM »
Hayden Christensen at the end of ROTJ.  What a s**tty way to end the saga.  I like Hayden for the most part, but there was no need to replace old Anakin with new Anakin.  But that's another argument.

Jedi Rocks and Chewie's tarzan yell are probably the next two for me.  The prequels have more than a few moments, but again I'll leave that for another thread.  :)

Horrible pick, Darth Anton.   :P

I could never name a favorite, but I'll narrow it down to three:

Tool - Lateralus

Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway

Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Ever Walk Out of A Movie?

On one of the first dates my wife and I went on, we elected to see "The Pest" with John Leguizamo (sp?).  20 minutes later, we were on our way home.  I still can't fathom why we thought we might want to see that one.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Family Guy
« on: July 1, 2005, 12:04 AM »
I have the two Family Guy DVD sets, and I find myself putting them in regularly to give them a viewing.  I know the humor is crude and gag-driven, but it gives me a laugh pretty much every time.  For me, two things give it the kick in the bum that I like.  First, the way a conversation can take a complete 180 in a matter of seconds, but yet it all makes sense.  For instance - Lois tells Peter he can be the director (or producer, I forget) of the theater presentation, and ten seconds later you get "I love Mexicans!  I'll do it!"  You have to see it to understand.  :)  More than anything though, it's the various references to once-popular TV shows, movies, etc, and the twisted turns some of them take.  "You're asking if they've ever done a Sesame Street in which the Count kills somebody and then sucks their blood for sustenance."  The Ernie & Bert reference mentioned earlier is another good good example.

I think I'm going to watch some of it now.  :)

I couldn't believe it when I heard it either.  Of all the bands and all the reunion shows, this is one I *never* would have thought to happen.  I have a feeling - and maybe this is way off base - that this one-time reunion might be a "test".  If they can work through their differences and get through this show without strangling each other, it stands to reason that they might be able to stick together for a reunion tour across the world.  One can only hope.  :)

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: 50lbs in 6 weeks. Can I do it?
« on: June 19, 2005, 11:51 PM »
I can say pretty confidently that if you lose that kind of weight in that small of a time frame, odds are you're going to put it back on.  I've had as many ups and downs as anyone in the last few years, ranging from 250 to 300 to 230 to 300 to 260 back up to 310.  The worst thing I've done to myself is think that I have to lose a ton of weight at first to get started - doing so messes with my metabolism enough that I gain it back, not only very quickly but generally more than I'd lost to begin with.  The best thing you can do for yourself is pace yourself, not make drastic changes (just smart changes) and be patient.

There's also a band called "Super 8-Bit Brothers".  It consists of two guys from the band "Tubring" out of Chicago (great band if you've never heard them).  Rather than doing NES music covers, they actually do songs *about* NES games.  :)  Some of the games their work covers are pretty obscure.  Good stuff.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Last CD You Bought
« on: May 24, 2005, 01:27 PM »
Yep, I'm a big time SGM fan.  I've only had the pleasure of seeing them once, but they're playing KC on 6/11 so I will be there barring an amputation or cerebral implosion.  :)

I would recommend to anyone, even those that don't like what they've heard of SGM on CD, to catch a Sleepytime Gorilla Museum live show if they can.  I can say that their little club show at The Hurricane in KC is rivaled only by Pink Floyd on the Division Bell tour and Tool on the first Lateralus tour as my favorite shows of all time.  Good stuff.

Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - Of Natural History

I think that's the last one, anyway.  I don't buy a whole lot of CDs anymore.

Twice so far.  I thought it was even better the second time around.  Can't wait to get back again.  :)

Watto's Junk Yard / Little Shop of Horrors SE DVD
« on: May 12, 2005, 12:23 PM »
Does anyone here have the Little Shop of Horrors Special Edition DVD?  Here's a picture:

Apparently this DVD was recalled because it has an alternate ending that wasn't supposed to be released, or something to that effect.  My question to those that have the DVD is, what exactly is the alternate ending on this DVD?  I know this sounds strange coming from someone who has the DVD, but as soon as I get some responses I'll explain.  :)

Aside from that, are that any other alternate endings to this movie that would not be found on this DVD, but maybe on other DVD versions?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Am I the only person that can listen to that theme song over and over...and over...and over....and over again?  It's delightfully twisted.  :)

Add me to the list of ladies, gents and otherwise that have decided to give RS the boot.  :)  It's really too bad, as I been a part of that deal since CSW first started up, but the place has really gone downhill in the last couple of years and frankly I'm glad to be rid of it.  Aside from the friends I've made there it serves no purpose to me.  I feel confident that I can be a part of intelligent convesations here, and not have idiots like matkatanadam (or whatever his name was) telling me I'm an idiot for not appreciating George Lucas' genius prequel trilogy.

Anyway, I know who many of the mods here are, and I'm glad to be a member.
