One things for sure: Hasbro won't give us a RF Trooper anytime soon according to their most recent Q&A....

Hmmm... the capture makes it sound me like it won't have any battle sequence, so that might eliminate Rebel Fleet Troops.  I think it SHOULD be more along the lines of this -

That may be correct.  I all for stormies, droids and officers.  I would hope for a different droid or a repaint of that one, same goes for the officer.  I know we are stuck with 500th Vader, just like this year.

Man, that would be cool to get a new head on that officer Gatillo.  And if we somehow pulled two VOTC Stormies out of this... damn.

I'm not expecting new RFT's but thanks for the thoughts guys.  It almost brings a tear to my eye to know I'm on your mind. ;)

If it's a couple VOTC Stormtroopers, a droid (I'd like a repainted one over the R4 unit...  There are a couple astro's so I'd go for something new hopefully), I'm assuming Vader, and I'm going with Antilles...  That'd not be too bad.  The Vader will suck but I can use all the rest of it personally.

I'm hoping no POTJ Fleet Troopers make the cut...  Hasbro can say what they want, but arms with no articulation do not equate a "pretty good" figure for poseability...  I hope they retire that SOB.

Even if they added articulated elbows to that RFT, it still sucks by today's standards.  In 2001, I thought it rocked.  But now, this figure needs a resculpt so badly.

 :)

The RFT was a great improvement on it's previous version.  The POTF2 version was utter dreck.  When the POTJ version came out it was a great step in the right direction.  And I think I understand Hasbro's statements about it in the most recent Q&A.  Late next year or perhaps in '08 this would be a great trooper to revisit.  But in actuality, I think the Hoth Rebel Trooper needs revisiting much more than the RFT.

As for the lineup, I think the following is likely...
Darth Vader
Stormtrooper
Rebel Fleet Trooper
Captain Antilles

I'm still confused on something: Where exactly did Hasbro say that BPs next year would be four figures and an accessory rather than five figures with accessories?  I'm just wondering where this was definitively stated and, if not, how this was inferred.  With recent comments about the box size being the thing that dictates what gets packed in the box, I don't see how many of these larger accessories (some of which, mentioned in other threads like the Geonosian Sonic Cannon) could even fit when taken apart.

And as far as what I would expect to see in a Battle Pack like this (I probably said something different in another thread, and I'm sticking with five figures):

-Darth Vader (CommTech version)
-Stormtrooper (CommTech version)
-Rebel Fleet Trooper (POTJ version)
-Princess Leia (either Early Bird or CommTech version)
-Imperial Officer (POTJ version)

As for what I'd like to see/what would convince me to buy it:

-Stormtrooper (VOTC x 2)
-Darth Vader (VOTC version with retooled torso/shoulder plate)
-Rebel Fleet Trooper (new SA sculpt x 2, just for Jesse) :)

Silver Protocol Droid (Diety 3PO re-paint)

It was mentioned in the Rebelscum article that purportedly listed so much of the 2007 line.  So it's certainly not definitive until Hasbro has their say.

I think the only way this set could be disapointing (aside from using POTF2 sculpts,) is to have the set consist of Vader, Leia, 3PO, R2 and a lame accesory.

If it doesn't come with VOTC Stormtroopers, I'll most likely pass.

I don't post in this section alot but, I hope that the pack will consist of:

VOTC Leaia
VOTC Vader
SAGA Capt. Antilles
VOTC Stormtrooper
A Tantive IV vingette (They did do the detention block, they are able to do this.)

YEAH RIGHT!!!! In my dreams! I THINK that it will be this:

ComTech Leia-OR-Early Bird Leia
500th Vader
ComTech Stormtrooper
POTJ Imp. Officer
A repack Interogation droid.

Just my two cents.

My Guess - Repack city:

500th Vader
Commtech Leia
VOTC Stormtrooper
Rots 3P0 & Saga R2 (They will break the rule of 5 with this since its crap!)
Repack of the Ultra escape pod
Title: Re: 30th Aniversary Battle Pack: The Capture of Tantive IV
Post by: obi-dad on July 6, 2006, 04:26 PM
Since Hasbro thinks the POTJ RFT is a good sculpt, I wouldn't be surprised to see it in the pack.  If they corrected the paint job on the helmet, that would be a good first step.   Realistically, I would like see:

2x Rebel Fleet Trooper with separate helmet with chinstrap (corrected paint app)
2x VOTC Storm Trooper
1x (any of the following: Antilles, Leia, Imp Officer, Vader, astromech droid repaint, or silver 3PO - possibly the Ep1 droid or C-3PO repaint)

I'd buy multiples of that set, if they just did a new head sculpts with removable helmets on the RFT, even with the old knee & elbow articulation.

I would like...

NEW/repaint Astromech
Imperial Officer x2 with different heads (the ones released at the end of '02 along with Eeth Koth and Teebo)
Silver Protocol Droid
VOTC Stormtrooper

Hasbro will give us...

repack- PotF2 Vader
repack- CT Leia
repack- PotF2 RFT
repack- CT Stormie
repack- Snoova

These always seem better at the "Concept" stage....the execution really lacks though.

I wish for: 4 VOTC Stormtroopers, 1 Evolutions Vader.

I fear this is:  The highly outdated, improperly scaled and un-articulated Commtech Stormtrooper, the under-articulated Capt. Antilles, VOTC C3P0, R2D2 and that Vader that is clogging the shelves now (I don't know which version that is).

Title: Re: 30th Aniversary Battle Pack: The Capture of Tantive IV

Any Vader they release would have to be a ANH Vader, with the robe over the shoulder armor. Maybe they'll use that Vader from the tin set. That would be cool, since I don't really want that tin set...

Here's what would make this a cool set. Obviously all troopers would be ideal, but I just couldn't see that happening:

• ANH Vader from tin set
• VOTC Stormie
• VOTC Stormie
• POTJ Rebel Trooper
• Captain Antilles

Untill I see a battle pack with a VOTC Stormie I will never expect it - expecially if it is not an exclusive.  CommTech is the safe bet.  Vader, Leia, Stormie and Fleet Troopers (POTJ) are the safest bets from my perspective.  5 figures, no Tantive accessories, that is where I put my money.
Title: Re: "The Capture of Tantive IV" Battle Pack

My prediction:

Darth Vader Hoth with plastic cloak
POTF commtech  Stormtrooper
POTJ Rebel fleet trooper with a new head
C3P0 maybe with escape pod
R2
If no pod we get Early Bird Leia

I wonder if the Stormtroopers don't also have new helmets, that may even be removable.  They look a little bigger than the VOTC version, to me--one of the few things that could be improved on that figure, in my opinion.

It's hard to say. That new basic stormtrooper supposedly has a removable helmet as well, so I guess it could be packed in this battlepack, like the Airborne clone in the Mace pack.

I made up a really quick/crappy comparison shot in photshop with the VOTC trooper. Obviously the quality of that little image kind of sucks and the pose isn't quite the same, so it is a little hard to be certain, but they look almost identical to me.

I will probably buy this battle pack if the Storm Troopers are the Vintage OTC versions. I can always use more StormTroopers, and my Rebel army needs a few soldiers.

This is one of my favorite battle packs. And I actually kinda like this Rebel Trooper. *awaits comments on my intellect level* The sculpt is pretty good and since I am used to the angle cut articulation, I collect 21st Century Toys, it doesn't bother me.

If it's got two VOTC Stormtroopers in it AND two RFTs (although they suck) with new heads, I'm definitely down for this set.

If it's got two CommTech Stormies and two RFTs (even if they have new heads), I'm out.

VOTC Stormtroopers = Main Selling Point for This Set.  Now, if we could just get Hasbro to release the ******* thing on a card in the basic figure line, we'd be set.

(And don't give me that "But a removable helmet one is coming!" because it doesn't count)  :P

Why doesn't it count?

I read a similar comment (http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=hasbro30th&Number=2225692&Forum=f127&Words=&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Main=2224783&Search=true&where=bodysub&Name=5329&daterange=1&newerval=1&newertype=w&olderval=&oldertype=&bodyprev=#Post2225692) from someone over at RS, and I just don't get it.  How is the original one better than, or preferable to, one with a removable helmet?

(And don't give me that "It's Jango underneath, and Jango sucks!" because I already agree, and two, if you don't like the head underneath, you can just leave the helmet on until the end of time.)

I asked the same question in the dedicated Stormtrooper thread, and the only answer I got was from someone concerned that the helmets might warp like they did in his Evolutions set.

So, besides that and Jango, what's not to like about the new one?  Or is that it?  What's up, Doc?

Boxed pictures just showed up on scum. My initial reaction - WTF? ???

Dirty Stormtroopers? Sandtroopers minus sand gear? Looks like the belt is from the Evo Sandtrooper. I'm confused and very scared.
Title: Re: "The Capture of Tantive IV" Battle Pack
Post by: Jesse James on October 30, 2006, 02:20 PM
*shrugs*

A mock-up package perhaps?  However the Evo Sandtrooper is...  interesting.  The Evolutions Sandie is 100% its own sculpt, and that may be the Sandtrooper we're getting then and not VOTC Stormies...  I dunno.  I'm not guessing one way or the other, but if that's what you get, I think I can pass...  Unless I can find someone to buy a ****load of ****** Rebel Fleet Troopers?

I'd love more Sandtroopers if they're cheap enough, why not?  But 3 figures I don't want?

And no Hasbro...  once again, that RFT isn't "decent".  It wasn't decent when it came out, it's riddled with little **** flaws that make it one big flaw, and it is a dated, crappy figure.

As of now, I'm a big pass on this set, happily.

God, me too if they keep those ****** (literally) paint ops on the stormies.  How disappointing.

Boxed images are pretty spot on (at least historically) in regards to what we end up getting on the shelves.

I smell disaster.

Yeah, if the sets go to retail with those sort of paint aps - what the heck?  I don't remember dirty Stormtrooper storming the Tantive, in fact I think they were pretty shiny new :).

Repacks of the Evo Sandtrooper and a retool with Captain Antilles Head an helmet on RFT body, from the looks of it. I'll get it regardless, since I never found the RFTs at retail, though I REALLY hope they change the paint apps on the Stormies....

And I was expecting the new VOTC stormie with revised (more proportionate) helmet.  Funny how the back of the box kicks ass but the product inside the box sucks ass.

So, besides that and Jango, what's not to like about the new one?  Or is that it?  What's up, Doc?

Believe it or not, I'm one of those people who doesn't really have a problem with Jango Fett and/or his head being underneath all the helmets.  I'm just continually baffled by how Hasbro consistently refuses to reissue the VOTC Stormtrooper despite seemingly rampant demand.

I guess my real problem with the Stormtrooper having a removable helmet isn't so much with the concept itself but with the execution.  Hasbro has unfortunately been using that horrid rubber on the helmets lately (with the exception of Cody and Leia Boussh this year), and the rubber tends to warp when you leave it on the characters' heads.  I noticed this with the Evolutions Clones from AOTC, and the Clone Lt. based on that mold from the new Tin set seems to have the same problem lying in his future.  Sadly, the Sandtrooper helmet is made from that same material instead of the sturdier material of the Cody/Boussh helmets, so I'm afraid that any future releases of a RH Stormtrooper (particularly one in a Battle Pack which Hasbro has essentially said they don't even try on) will use this subpar plastic/rubber as a substitute for a sturdier material.

So yeah, as usual, my gripes have more to do with poor execution than a poor concept.  If the Sandtrooper body thing is true, complete with dirt and grime, then this has disaster and shelfwarmer written all over it.

I mean, really, didn't Scruffy get paid to clean the halls of the Tantive IV?  Or was he too busy looking at "Zero-G Juggs" to clean up that day? :)

Ok 2 things for me that detract...but I will be getting one of the Battle Packs, so know that going in...

1.  The pitiful small and underscaled blaster the RFT's come with.  Please Destroy that mold and start giving us either a new sculpt or the one that came with Antilles/Gold 5/Dodonna/Saga2 Endor Rebels.

2.  Is that an interogation droid sitting at Vader's left shoulder or am I seeing things?

I am excited to get 2 SA Stormies (if they look like the ones on the back, less so like in the package, but I will get them just the same) and if the RFT's have removable helmets, at least I'll have a few more of those without buying up loose Capt. Antilles at shows.

I'm glad someone else mentioned that.  I'm kind of curious about that piece being included as well.

It's pretty much the set that I expected, minus the paintjob on the Stormtroopers.  I certainly didn't expect greatness from this set.  And is it me, or is that the POTF2 CommTech Vader?

Totally!   One of my fondest SW memories is from when my dad took me to see it for the first time during the re-release in 79 (?)- when the stormtroopers broke into the Tantive and Vader came out- it was scary for a 4 yr old!   And I distinctly remember the stormtroopers been shiny white!   Not sandy... what is WITH that?

Even if the worst thing about the stormtroopers is the dirt, the saving grace will be if the dirt can come off ala the Sandtrooper. However, if dirt is on the face, that could be a problem.

I was thinking about this and the dirty troopers.  I have to admit that if I had to walk out into that hallway of the Tantive IV, I would have probably crapped my armor too.  I mean, that was an intense and deadly moment in Star Wars history and perhaps Hasbro is making sure we all know that. :P

About 75% of the time we see boxed images, it's a final product.

About 25% of the time we see boxed images, it turns out to be an early mock-up.

Since these look like Saga2 Sandtroopers minus the pauldron, I'm going to hope that this set falls into the "25%" category and it's just a mock-up using modified Sandtroopers.  Hasbro is marketing these basic battle packs to kids and I find it hard to believe they would be stupid enough to release Stormtroopers all dirtied up like that...   (famous last words, I know  :-X)

As I'm going through the "Great Unboxing of 2006", I'm realizing how much I actually miss the Cinema Scenes of the POTF/POTJ line versus the whole "Battle Pack" thing.    The figures in the Cinema Scenes were usually mostly new and the packaging looks great just sitting on the shelves-I'm bypassing the cinema scenes in my unboxing friendly and am thinking of just selling/trading the battlepacks I actually have at this point and will not be purchasing any of the new ones at this point.   4" collecting just ain't what it used to be....

Heh, I still haven't unpacked any of my cinema scenes from POTF2 through Ep I simply because I like the way the figures are displayed in the boxes.

I do think that some of the display setups with the new battle packs are pretty nifty though.  Even some of the craptastic packs look ok in the package with no new figures at all.  But that doesn't mean I'm going to buy any of them.  I'm so happy to have broken through that MIP barrier.  I still understand the mentality as a lot of stuff looks great in the package and once you open it, it sucks ass.

I'm still confused on why they would use a superior stormie mold (which by the looks of it, I'm in love with) for the back of the box but use a totally different mold for the actual toy...

It's little things like this that piss me off to no end.  For once I'm excited about a toy and then I learn more about it....and it all goes to crap.

I see that SSG (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/index.php?categoryid=13&p2_articleid=440) has some boxed and loose pics up of this (and the Dagobah/Geonosis) battle pack - it looks like the Stormtroopers are indeed "dirty".  Also, at least in the loose pic, Darth Vader has a blue lightsaber - which I'm sure will be fixed.

I gotta be honest that the sculpt choice doesn't bother me, it's the dirt that does, but either way I can't see myself wanting the set because A) I don't need Darth Vader again, B) The Rebel Fleet Trooper sucks well beyond a new head with Antilles' helmet, and C) 2 Stormtrooper army builders can't get me at this point.

I'll get some casts of the heads Hasbro makes, and if any of you guys wind up not wanting the Storm/Sandtrooper figures you can look me up.  I'd probably buy.  I like the Evolution sculpt just fine and could use more.

And the Fleet Trooper sucks as hard now as it did in POTJ and Saga so Hasbro's not fooling me.  It's not "decent", it never was "decent", and only a super articluated resculpt will suffice at this point.  So there.

Let us not overlook the fact that they included the woefully small compact version of the Rebel Blaster.

Why not give us the much improved version we got with Antilles/Vander and the Endor Rebels.

I'll snag a set, if for nothing else, a couple SA Stormtroopers (hopefully not dirty) and some more Antilles Helmets...

I want a new SA RFT as well, but at this point, I don't see it happening.

Can anybody tell if those heads are Ball Jointed?  Or are they just the standard post?

Personally I like the COTIV BP. The explosive diarhea deco doesn't bother me at least they are good sculpt rather than reusing the Commtech Trooper sculpt. They'll just be relegated to being displayed with my other Tatooine Troopers, dirty or otherwise.

Much to the shagrin of Jesse, I like the RFT  :o, I'll just admit now that I have 8 of them for army builders and to display with Cap. Antilles so a couple more with removable helmets is gravy to me. The Vader is a definate abortion considering the Evo. version being available again in the 30th Anniv. Tin.

I like how the Stormtroopers have new belts without the pouches. We really have to beg Hasbro for a running change to remove the poop. My guess is the Marketing guy felt that they would be lost in the very white package thus is why we have the Bantha spatter.
Great improvement to the troopers. I may buy 2 sets, depends. I am so sick of dirty troopers. A black blast effect would have been prefereable.

And there was much rejoicing!   From this week's Hasbro Q&A at JediDefender (http://www.jedidefender.com/newspro/fullnews.cgi?newsid1163213532,68703,):

Quote
3. Early catalog images of the "Capture of Tantive IV" battle pack also appeared this week (so I'm sure you'll also see this question asked by someone else). Collectors are already asking about those Stormtroopers. Are they based on the VOTC sculpt or the Evolutions sculpt or something else entirely? Will the Stormtroopers be nice and clean or will they be "battle damaged" or dirty? The mock-up images make them look pretty dirty which is disappointing if true, everyone knows the Stormtroopers have shiny new armor; it's the rest of the imp troopers who get dirty.

** The figure is the Evo Stormtrooper sculpt. The troopers will be clean. The dirty ones are an error at the factory that we are working to correct. As a result, this one will be delayed relative to the other two national battle packs (Dagobah and Geonosis), but should catch up in schedule quickly. These packs will be available throughout the spring ('07), so collectors should be able to pick up one or more Tantive IV sets without a problem.

And, for those with poor reading comprehesion skills...

- the Stormtroopers will be clean!
- the dirty ones are an error!

Reaction seems to be pretty "meh" overall to this one.  I am looking forward to it...moreso now that the it has been revealed that the Stormies will be clean.  I was excited to be getting a couple more RFTs with different headsculpts and, finally, removable helmets with corrected paint aps.

I've warmed up to it slightly myself...  I'm thinking of getting it to at least have the Rebel's headsculpts in my fodder bin and a couple Stormtroopers aren't going to hurt me any either.

Second best? I'd say VOTC is the first best stormie sculpt, wouldn't you?

The BP Stormtrooper is the Evolutions sandtrooper, not the VOTC.  I'm not too crazy about modern figures without waist articulation.  Seems like a major point to ger rid of to save a few cents.

Now that we have a nicer Basic figure stormie on the way, is this going to effect quantities of this set purchased? I'm still considering using the stormies in this pack as squad leaders, so for me, it's looking like a no.

Well if these are the evolution sculpt but are clean, I'm thinking this is still a good set.  Count me in for many sets if that is the case.  I really like the evolution sculpt for whatever reason.

We've got a spiffy new photo of the Tantive IV battlepack Fleet Trooper sans helmet.  Nice enough headsculpt for me to not mind TOO much the obsolete figure it's attached to.  Something worth casting IMO.  I'm not so sure it resembles anyone from the scene as was rumored but hey it's generic enough anyway.

Word is that both figures are teh same headsculpt but I'm not sure on that either.  I thought one was the grey sideburned older trooper but I don't know.

Removable helmet's a single step in the right direction on the figure. ;)  Now another 20 steps and they've acheived perfection, heh.

He received a few of the "reject" sets (the ones with the dirty troopers) that he is selling:

Hasbro still says that the set is being corrected though, so no worries on getting clean stormies eventually...

Yeah, SSG had pictures of the pack that showed clearly clean Stormtroopers and such...  No mixed molds either, just Evo Sandies without dirt.  I'm sure since Hasbro's said that's the deal, that it is what we're getting.

I was going to buy this pack regardless.  But the removeable helmets on the Blockade troopers is a plus.  I actually like the Rebel Fleet Troopers scuplt for the most part.  Granted I will snatch up a new version if they ever make them but they are a decent trooper builder IMO.

Oh I like the sculpt as an upgrade too...  Don't take my bashing of it totally the wrong way.  I bash it as an action figure though, especially when compared to anything in the last 3 years or so, but as far as sculpt accuracy goes it's definitely quality...  My bashing goes to a lot of other aspects of the figure than its sculpt.

The removable helmet's a nice addition too, and eases the pain of buying this pack for me...  I still wont' army build it though, but I'll be more inclined to keep these Troopers around for "dead" guys maybe even when (not if) a new sculpt of the RFT surfaces...  They're good for that with removable helmets.
Title: Re: "The Capture of Tantive IV" Battle Pack
Post by: Dressel Rebel on January 22, 2007, 12:14 PM
My whole thing about the RFT is that we've seen what Hasbro can do with a 14 point articulated ball jointed SA VOTC stormtrooper/ SAGA2 sandie ($7), yet we continue to get **** like the new Endor Rebel, this RFT, etc., when we all know damn well that for $7 they could give us a new RFT with 14 points of articulation with ball jointed shoulders/elbows/knees.

At this point, 14 points with ball jointed shoulders and elbows and elbows should be standard.  If the DSG and Sandtrooper can get it, they can all get it.

Hasbro just does such a half-assed job.  I've become very selective in what I buy, often times leaving 30-50% of any given wave behind on the pegs between repacks, repaints, POOR articulation/half-assedness etc.

A bit of a rant here, sorry.  But I'm sick of these half-assed figures.  I don't care if the RFT has a removable helmet.  I'm still not biting.  Do it right, all in one shot.  Don't give me a beefed up musclehead RFT, then a slightly better one, then one with a removable helmet, and then finally the ultimate version.

I want one RFT done right, all in one shot, then I'll take 30 of them.

This one, I'm not buying.

But you are in the minority and Hasbro knows it.  The general mentality is well, it's better than what we currently have and that is precisely what Hasbro is banking on.  There are guys out there that army build and will probably replace all of their RFTs with this guy and will do so once again when that ultimate version comes out (or however many times in the interim a better figure comes out).

Guys like you have the willpower to not buy it and that's cool.  If everyone did it that would be awesome and the message would be sent, maybe three times and we wouldn't deal with this.  The converse though might be we'd run out of production figures sooner since they can't milk a particular character/figure for as long as they often do.  Not good business from their perspective.

The other negative is that folks like me are just so generally frustrated that it's driving us towards other lines.  Prior to ROTS I don't think I skipped a single sculpt of any figure, no matter how craptastic.  But now it's to the point of where I'm sick of seeing something resculpted so soon afterwards.  Sure, it's better (compare Jedi from ROTS to those from AOTC) but I still might not buy it simply because I'm tired of doing so.  Seemingly though I'm in a minority.

Dressel will buy the Tantive BP for the stormies, so Hasbro still wins.   :-*

It's slick marketing, that's all - rehash something just enough to make it better than the previous incarnation.

It worked for the tin and vehicle rehashes last year - it will work with the BP's.

Sucker or suffering from OCD?  Opening 98% of my stuff resolves many of the questions like this.  I do think they do a darn nifty job of packaging figures but I manged to break myself of collecting window boxes (mostly) so my decision on these is whether the figures are worth it or not.  Marketing indeed and at least there's something new in it, plus some army builders.  As opposed to some hideous POTF2 rehashed figures. :-X

I'm probably going to be a sucker for this set... I just can't help it.  The Stormtroopers look fantastic I think.  If they have good paint jobs, I'll probably buy 4-5 of this set, or even more.  If it came with all Stormtroopers, I'd probably buy at least 10 of them though.

No problem Anton.

The belts on my Stormies were all on backwards in the packaging, but you can turn them around like Anton said.  I hadn't realized it when I snapped that first close up pic, was in a bit of a hurry and just took the figures out and snapped that image.  Sorry about that.

I now have three of these sets, and the belts were on backwards on all six stormies.  They slide around easily though so you can have them look correct.

The heads on the Fleet Troopers are regular/old school pegs.  I'll probably pop the heads off a couple of them this week for customs.

The Stormies are pretty good, I think I like them better than the VOTC version... they seem to be more of a pure white plastic for the armor.

A buddy of mine picked up 4 sets, two each from different stores. The first 2 he opened up had only dark-haired RFTs, the second 2 had only brown haired ones. I picked up 2 sets last night from a totally different store. One BP has 1 of each trooper the other has both dark hair.

If getting both troopers is important to you, inspect the package at the store.

Ok, I finally opened one of mine.  Let me say that I love removable helmets on Rebels and non Jango Clone imps...but that was not enough to save this one for me.

Keep in mind I committed to at least 3 or more sets, so I was not a nay-sayer from the get go...

The head sculpts on the Rebs are terrible.  They are very BBI-ish and I have never been a fan of their Head Sculpts in the 1:18 line.

They are different sculpts though, not just a Dark Haired and Light Haired version of the same sculpt.  Maybe once the suffer from the fact that they are on a questionable body at best and are stuck with the woefully underscaled blaster.. but I really am not inclined to go pick up set #3 now.

The stormtroopers are great (aside from having Sandtrooper belts) and I can now stop trying to remove the "stains" from my Evo Troopers...

I think there was a Darth Vader in there too, but I threw him away with the packaging...I have so many different DV's already, I am afraid they would breed and make more...

I made the mistake of putting my Vader with the 50 other Vaders I have. I woke this morning to 25 little Vaders running around my place. The worst part is they all have the 500th Vader articulation.

I've seen only one of this set so far and let my gf's kid have it...  I want one set just for the Reb's heads to cast them and the Impy's for my army, but I'm gonna not be doing much army building for sure.  I can't justify the price for 2 nice Stormtroopers...  The Rebels suck hard, regardless of removable helmets (a nice update, but not enough to make it a nice figure...  Just good generic headsculpt fodder).

Fleet Troopers eat ****, but don't die.

I make no delusional claims about it. I'm buying this set just for the Stormies. I'll give the Vaders away and trade away the RFT's after the first two sets.
Title: Re: "The Capture of Tantive IV" Battle Pack

I opened the 2nd Set today.  I did not check before hand, but I got 2 troopers with the same hair color.  I'll get pics up when I can get the  camera charged up to show the differences.

The helmet is nice though on the RFT.

So  now after being negative, I will go ahead and snag set #3 to get an even number of hair colors on my extra Rebel Heads.  It won't hurt to have 2 more stormtroopers either.

I made the mistake of putting my Vader with the 50 other Vaders I have. I woke this morning to 25 little Vaders running around my place. The worst part is they all have the 500th Vader articulation.

Why can't we breed out the impurities instead of making them more dominant..

The Rebels suck hard, regardless of removable helmets (a nice update, but not enough to make it a nice figure...  Just good generic headsculpt fodder).

Fleet Troopers eat ****, but don't die.

When they came out the first time, I had a more soft view than JJ on this figure...I was so disappointed with the POTF2 Rebel BEEF Trooper that the Saga I update was really neat to me.

All this really does is make me want another better one.  The Ceremonial Guard guy won't help that either...

Just curious, how tough have the Tantive BPs been to find in your areas?  I personally haven't seen any yet, and I'd like to pick one up, but the Battle Packs in general have been pretty scarce around here.  There are some older (Jedi vs. Palpy) sets at Target (as well as the exc. Ilum one), but aside from seeing a couple Dagobah sets over the past couple months, I don't think I've seen any for awhile.  Neither TRU or Wal-Mart in our area has a single one.

None of the basic BP have been shelf warning at all which is the part I find interesting. Even after the few times I've seen the Tantive IV pack, the other two were gone within a few days.

I don't think anyone has found them outside of Wal-Mart stores.  All of the Targets near me are out of stock on all but their exclusive BP's.

I found two at Target yesterday.  One in the main aisle and one on the endcap with the other exclusive BP's.

Are there any other Battle Pack's on the horizon that we know about - save for the Bantha and the Arena set??

Ahhhhhh - the one day I decide not to hit Target.  Which Target did you find them at?  Let the hunt begin!

The only other one I know of that was 'confirmed' was the Treachery on Saleucami WM Exclusive and the rumored Jundland Wastes Encounter one.  Can we consider the TRU Exclusive Rancor one a rumored BP at this point?

I found all but two of mine at Target. In fact, I picked up 4 today between two Targets. I'm happy to say that I'm up to my limit of 8 packs for 16 of these Stormtroopers which I'm using as sergeants.

I've seen one, bought it for my gf's kid, haven't seen another for myself to just get the heads for casting and the Stormies for the army (love those 2).

Bummer, but things are dry around Pitt right now in general.

I found 2 of these at Target on Tuesday. The temptation was strong but spending $20 for 2 Stormtroopers was a little much for my wallet at the moment. Unless someone I know needs the Rebel Troops, i'm not bothering...

I've got 5 sets now - 4 from Walmart, 1 that my wife picked up for me yesterday at Target.

As of right now, they are being packed 2 a case along with the Dag and the BOG battle packs..I find it very odd the way Hasbro produces some of these Battle Packs..Too much of one, not enough of others ( Hunt for Greivous) I know the ones the have clones fly off the shelves even before they hit them..but...a good question for Hasbro?

Picked a set up at Target. I wasn't sure about it, but considering I got two Stormtroopers and two Rebels plus a Vader for $20, I thought it was good. Plus the Stormtroopers looked pretty neat.

I'd love to pick one up, but I'm not too worried about it yet.

Maybe this is just my payback for finding VOTC Stormtroopers in almost every store I walked into for 5 months.

Look at it this way, what other BP's are on the way? Unless the BP line is going away, they're have to put something on the shelves so one would think they'll get stocked eventually.

Exactly.  They are also shipping 2 per case with 1 each of the repack figs, so they'll probably be pegwarming before long.  I was going to pick up a bunch of these bcause I love this part of the movie, but I already have a bunch of RFT's and vaders, so $20 for two stormies is a bit rich for my blood.   :-\

Picked up two more sets today at Target (which I shouldn't have done, I really can't affort these), then saw a returned one at Walmart with the damn "switcharoo" with older figures put back in.

Still no sign of these around here, although I think our Target had them at one point since I saw one each of the Dagobah/Geonosis sets.  Our local WM and TRU don't have any Battle Packs at all, and Target just has the Ilum ones at this point.  Hopefully these will ship heavier, or at least continue shipping for awhile.  I wouldn't mind picking up at least one set, just for a couple more nice Stormies.

These are at every target I've been to in the last week.  Time to get to Target if anyone's still looking for them.  ;D

TRU and Target have both been loaded with these in my neck of the woods.  After seeing what the removable helmet stormie looks like, I changed my tune on these and have picked up 7 so far.

I don't love the Tantive IV trooper, but the way I see it I'm paying $7.50 each for 2 nice stormies then splitting the last $5 between the 2 RFT's I don't want all that much.

That wretched looking stormie that I was going to load up on in wave 3 really made me do a 180 on this battle pack.

I just wish I could find a pack where the stormtroopers that weren't pillaged out of the package. Someone in my neck of the woods is pulling figures out of BPs and returning them with missing figures. Our target store employees are too stupid to know they are receiving an incomplete item.

Picked up one last night at Target, down to the very acceptable price of $9.98  ;D.  I'll see if I can find anymore this weekend.

Around me they were available last weekend, then Monday came and they all pretty much went with the work rush it seemed.  Good set when you think of the $14 price, especially if you can unload the Rebels on someone who appreciates crap.  :D

It's been tempting to pick up a clearanced set or two for myself, but I have reached my limit on these Stormtroopers.

Haven't seen any of these for about a week, but I found one by accident in the clearance aisles today.  It was marked $14, but the priced came up as $10...not bad at $2 a figure!
