I found the new stuff at Target last night...

Do any of you know if the Darth Vader in the big Mech Suit set is the same as one of the two regular release Darth Vaders?  I'd love to not have to buy that one.

The Mech Suit Vader has the "tech lines" on him on either side of his chest box (those red circuit diagram lines type deco, same as they have on the Mando and Stormtrooper).

I can't find a good pic, but I think that makes him different/unique from the others...  here's a pic from Jayson/Yakface twitter:

Ah dammit.  I didn’t think of the tech lines.

That settles that then!

I'm probably the only one who cares about this, but I picked up the 'new' Darth Vader and also the Darth Vader from the 2-Pack with the Stormtrooper and they have different pelvises.  They're otherwise identical as far as I can tell.  So that makes four Darth Vaders in this line that are all at least slightly different from eachother.

Mechs!  The Mechs themselves will promptly be going into storage...

And here are 3 of the 4 Vaders, with a new TVC Vader... I can't remember where in the collection the first Epic Heroes Vader went, so it's not pictured... the Scale on the Vaders isn't ridiculously large, if anything they're the same or slightly smaller than the TVC ones, so that's interesting...

Wow!

Looking at those photos makes me wonder if the Epic Heroes line could morph into something like the 30AC or Legacy line down the road. Those look significantly more appealing than the first iteration of 4inch figures. And coming from someone who took a long break since the antenna-clone era, looks more familiar too.

The biggest problem to me still is the 0.25” difference in intended scale.

If Hasbro just made them 3.75” they’d have at least slotted in more seamlessly with the rest of the line despite the lesser sculpts.

I see a lot of people buying them saying "they fit in fine" but then I see pics like this one from Rob and I wonder what they mean by "fine".

It's all subjective I guess.  As a separate sub-line posed together as some sort of homage to Kenner/5POA/POTF2 style days, I guess I get it.

I do applaud Hasbro making the effort to get a cheaper line of figures into the hands of kids, but these do nothing for me (I have too much of this stuff already as it is).  Maybe at some point I'll bite on something like a vehicle but for now I'm happy to just ride along as a watcher on this line.

I really wish they had done this line in 3.75" 5POA.  I would buy every one of these, but the 4" scale looks off in a lot of cases.

Just opened a bunch of 5POA figures from The Last Jedi and they're pretty sweet.  I love TVC, but a well done 5POA figure is just fine too if its in scale with everything else.

Yeah I'd agree with you Jeff.

Some of them are close and kind of okay, some of them are outright ridiculous (when compared to TVC I mean).

But they seem to be getting a little closer on scale with some (Vader) and are adding limited articulation.  I wonder if they're evolving it to fit a little bit more.

I'm only collecting them because the couple of times I've skipped things I wasn't sure of, I regretted it later.  I figure it'll be easier to give them to a niece or nephew later if I change my mind than to track them all down.

Looks like SM-33 is back on Amazon. I ordered one to see if I could experiment with some paint myself. At $8, it's worth a try.

Caved on Yoda today. I really like the sculpt on him.
