I rarely ever play the lottery on my own, but when the jackpot hits $50 million or more, my office will start going in on a lottery pool, until someone eventually claims the grand prize. Well, as usual, we didn't win, and someone else did. So I got to wondering just how much money I've tossed out due to the lottery over the years. Just at my office alone, where it's a $2 entrance fee every few days 'til the jackpot's won, I've probably lost about $300 in the last 6 years. I guess that's not horrible, but it's certainly not wonderful either.
But the thought of my coworkers playing and possibly winning (and retiring) without me, is enough to strike fear into me to play each and every time. So me playing the lottery is more like buying insurance that my coworkers don't get rich without me. Strange reasoning, really...
So, how often do you folks play, and can anyone beat Adam's $43 jackpot?!
