2026 TVC Theme - Battle of Geonosis
« on: July 28, 2025, 03:32 PM »

Are we excited for this?

Maybe it's just after-effects of the whole "Gunship HasLab is a resculpt" thing, but all I see for this event is a whole lot of potential for more repacks (Jango, Dooku), repaints (Clones and Droids), and resculpts (so many Jedi plus Anakin, Obi-Wan, Padme to choose from).

I was super-excited for "Return to Tatooine" when it was announced but other than the Tonnikas in the HasLab, were there any other ALL-NEW things offered?  Everything else was a resculpt/repaint/update.  Granted some of those things were very nice new upgrades but it's a shame there were not more ALL-NEW things made to support the effort (new Cantina Aliens, Uzbrik speeder, etc.).  I thought for sure we'd get a Pulse 4-pack with some new Cantina Aliens but, nope!

Seems so weird to say "Return to Tatooine" is our theme for 2025 but all the ALL-NEW basic figures came from video games, The Mandalorian, Rebels, The Bad Batch, TCW, Ahsoka, etc.

That got me to thinking, what "ALL NEW" thing from Geonosis could they even offer to us?  That little Orray critter with cart that brings Anakin and Padme out to the Arena?  Is that it?

It may not be a part of the official 'theme' anymore, but Emily did tease a 4-pack in that image w/ the cantina table with the shadow of four hands. She also apparently said that the pack will be all-new offerings.

For me... not so much. I agree that most of what they could put out would be a redo of some sort. There's very little opportunity for NEW stuff from Geonosis, AOTC/CW Geonosis was so heavily covered in the 10 years between 2002-2012. While a lot of it could use a modern update, none of that is high on my wish list. especially given the limited quantity of TVC releases we get in a year.

I think it will beinteresting to see what happens if the Gunship DOESN'T fund too. The theme would be missing its centerpiece.

I must have completely missed that.  I guess I'll hold out hope that the not-unlocked Arleil Schous up in that pack then.  Glad to see they are still planning to support the Cantina even if the "Return to Tatooine" thing is technically closed.

Personally I'm not excited for anything prequel related.  I get that some people are, that's great for them... to me the sequel trilogy is criminally under represented in the line (Rise of Skywalker particularly).

There are dozens of Andor figures I really want made.

Same for many of the Disney shows.

The prequels are just about the last thing on my list, but I'm old and out of touch or so I keep hearing.

If they find a way to offer some new characters that would at least be nice.  Repacks, repaints, and updates to characters we already have do very little for me.

I'm with you Rob.

I'm assuming Hasbro understands the broader community maybe better than us, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.  From an old time collector perspective there really doesn't seem much of anything from the PT that didn't get made.  This was the glory days of Star Wars collecting where nearly everything got made.

I don't know if they're aiming at younger collectors that were kids at the time and are more interested in redoing figures "we" already have that the younger crew doesn't have - e.g. the three Jedi pack-ins with the Republic Gunship.  I find those pack-ins super lame, but maybe the whole thing is targeted at 30 year-olds who don't have the piles of stuff we have.  I think the slightly lesser articulated figures we got back in the day are good enough and don't need to be remade in TVC.

I'd ask that if Hasbro is going to pick a theme and go a little deeper, they should pick something that hasn't been fully mined - cantina and PT have been solidly represented already.  Pick any of the newer media (Andor/Rogue One please).  They could make a pile a pile of unmade figures.

I'm not sure I would have been super excited about a 25% bigger U-Wing for a HasLab, but I would have been super excited about all new Rogue One / Andor figures to build out the line.

Yeah, Geonosis is a head scratcher... even moreso that Hasbro is solely focused on the Battle, so that limits what will be out.  I really can't think of anything new (orray?) they can do unless they do a deep dive into some obscure Jedi, but would that be new considering most of the figure would be repurposed from older Jedi figures?  The only figures that would be enticing for me would be Separatists. Tikkes and Rogwa Wodrata have never been done. Wat Tambor, San Hill, Passel Argente, and Shu Mai could use an update. We could finally get Nute Gunray and Rune Haako on a vintage card.  Maybe a Droideka?

Otherwise, all I foresee are re-packs of Clones, Battle Droids, and Fetts (with Fett tax included).

Actually, I wouldn't mind if we got a legitimate Ki-Adi Mundi...

The ROTS Ki-Adi Mundi was one of the better Jedi figures from that line, but the design of that version is in line with 2005 standards.  I think in light of The Black Series version that came out in 2024, there could be a TVC version in the works.
