Low Fat or Low Carb?
« on: March 18, 2006, 02:05 PM »
I'm curious to know what your focus is when trying to eat right.  Do you watch carbs, or do you control fat?  Or do you even bother?

Whole grain is your friend.
Anything that is Whole wheat when it comes to bread cereal and or chips(like sun chips). And also fat isn't bad. for healthy hair, nails, your brain and skin you need fat in your food, it's just transfatty acids that are bad.
Also Low carb diets can make you actually depressed. :P

I try to go low cal, low fat and high fiber -- that equals fewer Weight Watcher's Points ;)  I try and watch the carbs somewhat.  I've tried to replace as many white flour products with whole wheat/whole grain ones that I can.

Even with all the fad diets out there the best way to go is still to follow the RDA, food pyramid, and stick with your traditional 40-30-30% carb-protein-fat diet, exercise 4 times a week, try to keep your calories under 1,800/day if you're trying to lose weight and no more than 35 g fat.
If you vote for me all of your wildest dreams will come true.  Thank you.

Low carb diets can make you actually depressed.

Deficiencies in diets cause an imbalance in hormones and other bodily chemicals.

But, if it's simple answers we're looking for there may be a much more alarming cause of depression staring us in the face: social isolation.

I eat what I like, lucky for me it isn't one thing or another; it's well balanced. There are other factors, of course, that can determine what food affects you and how you should be treating that, so I have a hard time trusting pharmaceutical companies to decide that one pill can help me at 10 million other people lose a few pounds a day.

Body chemistry is not the kind of **** you want to mess with when you don't have a clue what's going on inside of you.

Low carb.

Tack on excercise and not drinking regular soda, and you win.
