Fox news just reported that the upcoming TV show will bridge ROTS and ANH and will follow a young Luke Skywalker.  It was on the 4pm Pacific time Fox Report show today.

I really don't see how they could pull off a "Luke growing up" story. I can see it now...

"This week on Star Wars, Biggs and Luke get in trouble at school for a prank they didn't do! Now Uncle Owen is on the warpath! Can Luke save himself before he is forbidden from going to Toshi Station ever again? Find out next week, after a BRAND SPANKIN SEXY NEW episode of the OC, right here on Fox!"

Okay, so the rumor is the TV show is "The Young Luke Skywalker Chronicles."  Let's just look at the stupidity:

-Luke is going to be a whiny teenager 24-7 (or however they measure time in AGFFA) so it's essentially going to be "Dawson's Creek Wars."

-Luke doesn't have a lightsaber yet, having him know anything about Jedi skills whatsoever (even subconsciously) would go against what Lucas established in IV-VI, and Luke's whole life prior to the droids showing up was supposed to be boring and mundane (hence his desire to get away to the Academy).

-44 minutes a week of moisture farming adventures!  WHEE! 

-Characters we already know and love (even though they are played by different actors in I-III and IV-VI) will be recast yet again, likely with whoever they can get cheapest without much concern for the actual look or quality of the actor. 

Sounds like a real winner to me.     I have always had a bad feeling about a live-action SW television show, and if this whole "Young Luke" rumor is going to be true, I'm not even going to waste my time watching it.

I don't either...yet.  I hope it is not true for reasons mentioned above.  Man if that is true Hasbro is guaranteed to pump out more Tatooine Lukes than ever before.

Wasn't the whole point of Luke's story to begin with, the fact that his Uncle kept him on a leash working on the farm so he wouldn't be found.  and the fact that Luke was a "Boring" moisture farmer, longing and craving for some excitement, only to end up becoming the hero of the universe, the whole basis for SW to begin with?

So, what, now we're going to rewrite that and make hom some exciting teenager?

LOL!  That would be fantastic.  Or maybe Biggs will make out with Camie.   Oh no.  That  is what we are going get everyone.  An O.C. type show with Luke's friends on Tatooine.  Whew boy.  Luke will try to be a teenage badass driving his landspeeder around Toshi Station scoping out chicks with Biggs and Fixer.  He will be a Richie Cunningham type of character and Biggs will become the Fonz.  I could see Ron Howard directing an episode.   Kenobi will run the local diner and keep an eye out on the local kiddies.  Owen and Beru will have a marriage crisis.  Undoubtedly Owen will have a bout with the bottle and have to go to AA.  As a substitute for beer he will be encouraged to drink more blue milk.  Beru will have an affair with Wuher, but Kenobi will put the fear of the Force into Owen and save the marriage.  That is the reason Owen hates Kenobi.  That meddling Jedi Knight!
