My wife bought me an Xbox as an anniversary present, and she also got me "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" (what a sweet game that is).  I was wondering what games people here would recommend getting for it.  I know there's a lot of games out there, but what are your favorite Xbox games?

I recently just purchased an Xbox just for the Knights of the Old Republic game. I played it all the way through being a Lightside Character and beat teh game. The ending is cool. I did save it a a point where I could go tot he end battle as play as a Dark Side Character. Then ending is even better.

So far I only have Knights of the Old Republic = A+
Obi-Wan's Adventure = A-
and Aliens -VS- Predator = B   A fun game but so freaking hard!!
My next Xbox game purchase will be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turltes.

For those of you looking for me. I am now at www.sandtroopers.com

I think my next game purchase will either be SSX3 or Battlestar Galactica.

A gamecube may be in my future (thread drift warning).  The price recently dropped to $139 Cdn and this week FutureShop has a $40 rebate, so under $100 :o  I have three days to work on Mrs. Bug.

Wayne, at around 2004 X-Box will be getting a Star Wars game called "Commando"... LucasArts released a little trailer for it several months ago... It's very awesome looking so far (though I've seen none of it is in-game footage)...

Also - Hitman 2 : Silent Assassin is easily one of the best shooters I've ever played (I've got a PS2 but I doubt it's much different)... REAL fun... REAL bloody, too...

I suggest buying a demo CD, which has about 6 (not sure) demos of games on the shelves at the moment...

Im going to have to buy a new XBox soon, but Im waiting for the price to (hopefully) drop.

Ill just cut and paste my little story from Rebelscum:

This may sound contrived, but I assure you, these events are true, and have transpired over the past hours.

Ok, so I'm playing my Xbox this evening, in a very cool room, with the console sitting in a very open ventilated area. When, out of the blue, the unit turns off. No other electronics shut off, no brown out or black out, no blown fuses, etc...

So, I try to turn it on. Power button doesnt work. Ok, so I press the eject button. Unit comes on, tray opens halfway, closes and turns off. Almost as if the XBox were saying "HAH! Screw you, you're not getting Soul Calibur II back!". Ok, so I give it a couple minutes. Just in case it overheated. Power button. Nothing. Eject button. This time the tray comes out and I snag the disc. About two seconds later as I put the disc in the case, whap! Tray closes, unit turns off. I give it a half hour, and come back. Power button doesnt work. Press the eject button. It turns on, and stays on! Bless the video game gods! So, I press the eject button again, to close the tray. Hmmmmm. Why did it turn off? Damnit.... Press the power button. Nothing. Eject button. Turns on. This time, I press the power button. It turns off, but tries to come back on. Powers up, shuts off, powers up, shuts off. Is this thing possessed?!?! It finally turns off. I try the same thing, new surge protector. No luck. Same thing, new outlet. No luck. Another outlet. No luck.

I leave the XBox plugged in, press the power button. Nothing. So, I walk away. Minutes later? It turns on, by itself! Of course, as soon as I step near it, it turns off. It's teasing me now.

I give in, I call XBox Support. Tell them all the details. They are blown away. What the hell happened? The techs go to their supervisors, the supervisors go to their supervisors. They cant even think of anything to do, I've already done everything they would have had me do (wait a few minutes, try other plugs, check all the cables, see if everything is plugged in tightly, told them its in a clean well ventilated and cool area, etc).

So, my warranty has expired (no big surprise there), and they offer to let me send it to XBox to be repaired. I told them I'd consider it, and in the meantime, they are sending a new power cord, just to try (hell, its free, and anything is worth a try).

Thus, my conundrum. If said power cord does not work, do I send it to XBox? The repairs (assuming they are successful) would cost $100. I also have to pay shipping. With insurance and delivery confirmation, probably $25. So, we have $125 bucks, plus however long it takes for the XBox to POSSIBLY be repaired. I assume they wont charge me if it cant be fixed, but they wont replace it for free since the warranty is expired. Choice 2? $179ish for a new XBox with Clone Wars and another game (and free XBox live for a few months). Dont know if I want to risk eBay, but I might be able to snag a new one online for less.

So, is it worth another $50 to not have to deal with the woes of packing, shipping and waiting, for a repair that may not ultimately be successful? What if I can snag a new XBox for less than $179 (any links to legitimate e-tailers would be appreciated)? The fact of the matter is, old Boxy has passed away, and Im not about to attempt repairs myself, or send it to someone else (if I question sending it to XBox, nobody will convince me to send it to someone else). Another option would be to buy a refurb from Gamestop, $160 with free 2 Day shipping, or $150 for a preowned. I could also stop at Gamestop after classes.

So, what would you do?

That's pretty funny Adam!  Well, not the actual problem, but the story in which it was told...   :P

Sounds very similar to an old VCR we still have hooked up in one of our bedrooms!

I'd probably just wait for the Christmas price war to start between the various consoles, and snag a brand new one at that time rather than going through all the BS of trying to (hopefully) get it repaired...  Good luck whatever you decide to do!

Adam, don't wait for any discounts on the Xbox because it's already being advertised as a holiday special at $179 (with Clone Wars and Tetris Worlds).  If I were you I would just buy a new one.  At these prices they're almost disposable (just like VCR's).

I am absolutely addicted to KOTOR, so it might be a while before I buy a new Xbox game.   ;D

That's a bummer about the XB Adam.  :(  My VCR just fizzled on me the other day when I was trying to get some information on a particular SW uniform and I don't know what's up with it.  It was fairly new too...  I'm irritated.

If I was in the middle of some gaming I'd be especially upset about the XB but I've heard on multiple occassions now of that platform giving out for some reason.  Strange.

There's been problems on all the different video game consoles.  My friend had multiple problems with his PS2, and he's either on his 2nd or 3rd one now.  Luckily that thing was still under warranty at Best Buy, so he was able to get it replaced for free.  It's not just Xbox's that are crapping out... it's all of them.  This is one of the reasons why people should buy extended warranties.  It cost $50 for 2 extra years of service to cover our new Xbox, and that's $130 cheaper than buying a new one flat out.

There's an online trailer of Republic Commando, and it looks like it rocks!  Check it out here: http://www.lucasarts.com/press/releases/74.html
