Security Camera Systems... Anyone Have Them?
« on: December 29, 2011, 08:52 PM »
I got an inexpensive 2-camera set with a monitor for Christmas...  I got it because I'd been looking around at them since I had some neighbor issues, which included threats, and so I was looking to just be sure I caught anything that happened on camera (plus I kinda find security cameras a cool idea).

What I was wondering though...  what should I do to hook them up so they record?  Like, what are the options there?  I assume a VCR or your own DVR would work right?  I have a cable company DVR but can you hook it up to that too?  Can you hook it up to a computer, and if so, how?  It has the AV cables for hooking up to the monitor...  Don't really see many options otherwise on how it could/would hook up to anything else.  :-\

Anyone here experienced with security cameras at all?  I like the goofy aspect, even just to watch animals or whatnot.  I'm hoping the neighbor is gone once his lease is up, but you never know.  At that point I'd use it for animal (as opposed to *******) watching or whatnot.

A guy I know has his hooked up to feed the video directly to some kind of server "in the cloud" and he can pull it up on his laptop from where ever he is.  It's pretty cool, but I don't have a clue about how he did it.
"Really?  Sorry."

Damn, now that's what I want!  I wanna just send stuff to a magical land on the net that I can just check it out at any point from a wifi connection, and then see what's up at home.  That's pretty slick.

I knew all that POTJ Rebel Fleet Trooper bashing was gonna get you in trouble eventually.  It took most of a decade but it's finally caught up with you.

This is what happens when you invade Wakanda

Yeah, it might be the designer of the POTJ one, actually, and he's never really gotten over my hatred of that figure.  I guess the folks that told me my comments were hurtful to the people who worked on it were right, and now I've got one of them stalking me.

It doesn't help that I hung a bunch of POTJ RFT's out on the fence posts and shoot them with pellet rifles though, either.  And I melt them with magnifying glasses.  I am sort of stoking the fire with that stuff I guess.  :-X

Saw a pretty sweet set-up at a relative's...  Really good pic and night viewing, but not too expensive.  It should suit my needs.

I got an inexpensive 2-camera set-up that isn't high quality for Xmas...  The pic is good closer, but longer distances it isn't as good.  I'm thinking about using it for just watching around my own house, and getting this other one for a more practical security purpose at my gf's place till hopefully the tool leaves the shed.

Jim Ward has only threatened my dog, nothing more.

And to me, that's just not the Jim Ward we know and hate.
