Final pics of my rebuilt Emp throne room with gantry
« on: January 4, 2006, 11:18 AM »
Long story short: hurricane katrina flooded my collection room a couple feet, floated this dio around the room, and I salvaged much of it and rebuilt it with some new pieces.  Hope you like!

This is easily one of the greatest works of art I've seen anyone do with foamcore.  I thought this was supposed to be a bit darker, but that's ok, I still love it.

The walkway up top just puts this one over the top, but it was already awesome.

Glad to see you were able to salvage this masterpiece from disaster!

Sorry to hear that you were hit by Hurricane Katrina  :-\
That dio looks incredible!  As CHEWIE said, it is definitely a great work of art!  Are those command consoles made out of foamcore too?

At first I thought this dio wasn't star wars scale size. Then I saw the emporer sitting there. This thing must be a couple of feet tall. Incrediable job on this. The only suggestion would be to make the gantry darker in color. It feels more like Bespin then the death star.

I thought the same thing the first time I saw it!  In the first few pictures especially, it really does look like a real place that one could walk through.  One can't tell that that's foamcore at all, that's how convincing it looks.

Outstanding work.  It's so great that you were able to save this beauty from the wrath of Katrina!

Absolutely breathtaking, Greg!  Man, that's right up there with Niub Niub's stuff.  I agree with Justin that it could probably go a shade darker, but regardless, it's perfect, and I want that thing!  8)

Sorry to hear about the Katrina damage.  Hopefully you didn't lose anything terribly cherished (or irreplaceable) from the collection room, or the rest of the house, for that matter.

Great to see you back though.
