The show diverges from the comics quite a bit.  He's met a lot of people who he didn't in the comics.

I've lately been getting back into Star Trek.

Uhura never did it for me, and was anyone else really sort of disturbed when she danced nekked in the one ST film?  You only saw her silouette, but something about that whole thing has really bugged me.

That whole movie bugged me...It was Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. Something about Kirk finding "God" at the center of the galaxy and subsequently kicking said God's ass was amusing though.

The funniest part was that it was the most obvious body double ever.  She somehow lost 70 pounds just by taking her clothes off!!

I'd tried to force the film from my mind so I didn't recall, I just knew it was supposed to be her so the whole thing bugged me knowing she'd gotten a little hefty there and stuff...  It was all very weird.  And I recall when the film was out how it was a big deal about her "scene" and stuff. 

And yes, now I do recall Kirk kicking god's ass in that film...  That was pretty terrible.  No wonder it's one you don't see replayed too often.
