UCS Deathstar

I just noticed Jesse's report on the front page (damn, I should go there more often).  Wondering if anyone has more details - price, availability, etc.

Probably a S@H exclusive (or Lego store if you have one near you).  I heard over $300, 3500 pieces.

Oh my god, that WILL be mine.

I hope it's relatively small... around the $100 price range. :-\

Yikes.

Does anyone know if it includes extra panels so you can display it as the ANH Death Star instead of the ROTJ one pictured?

I don't think it comes with extra panels. Man at 3441 pieces, you need an extra long weekend just to put it together then after it's done, where the hell are you going to display it!  :-\

Great pictures over at FBTB.

Need something with some scale too it.  I don't usually go in for UCS stuff, but this interests me.  Is it bigger than a 27" TV, for example, or the size of a 13" version?

Looks like it'll be about Star Destroyer-ish size, box wise. Not sure about the actual model though.

I wish they would make a Death Star for the figures.  It could be modular like the Jabba Palace sets.  Give us a throne room, a trash compactor, a detention block, a hangar deck, a control room etc and I would be happy.  Maybe they'll do it if this thing sells.

Wow, it looks really cool, but at that price and being an exclusive, I don't know if I'll be able to get one.

Well I've picked up every UCS lego except for the Snowspeeder (just haven't gotten around to it yet...) but I might not be in a hurry to get the Death Star.  A)  It looks a little junky to me and B) damn expensive.

I think Lego.com had it on sale recently.  I don't think any major retail outlet sells it, but it can be found at lego stores and maybe FAO Schwartz.  The set itself isn't harder to build than any other large set.
