Wow, awesome that you hit right on the dot! Does that include vehicles or is it just figures? My paltry ~3400 have some catching up to do.
Just figures. I counted them when I packed them to move four years ago. Then I have kept a text doc on the computer that I update every time I open something.
I count sentient weirdoes as a figure (Jabba)... and tiny accessory sized characters as figures too (Babu Frik). That also includes Stan Solo and custom kenner style stuff.
I'm in a middle of a full cleaning and re-org (hence the big empty gap up top), but this gives you a sense of how much space that adds up to. The TV is a 65"er for scale. When I finish this cleaning project I'm going to take all new photos for the first time since moving into this place.
Looking great Rob, can't wait to see the new pics! That mostly matches my general counting style, too. If it is a sentient creature, a droid, or a larger accessory w/ special value on its own (
i.e. the TAC Moisture Vaporator that came with Luke), I count it individually when loose. Carded/packaged I count them as one. With this "Journey of Anakin Skywalker" set, loose, I'll count it as three figures, carded, it is still just one.
I guess the big difference in my number is that I also count vehicles and playsets in that total, so my count for figures is a bit lower. I use the same standards where I count things like the Phantom II, which came with the Ghost, as their own item when loose. I also break up playsets by pieces that would have value when displayed, sold, or purchased individually. The HasLab Cantina for example would count as one item while boxed, but would count as about fourteen when loose because I'd break up the five pack-in figures, each of the alcoves, the main bar, the entry way, the exterior, and then all of the accessories (which I'm not totally sure how I want to count yet).
