This one is incredible. The new sculpt really highlights how dated the old one was looking. It's a very nice touch to include the battle-damaged panel. The new Vader card is really nice, and I'm glad there appears to be no changes to Vader so that I only have to buy one of these.

You just mentioned a reason to buy two. Normal and battle damaged versions! ;)

Does anyone have a sense of scale on this?  Is it essentially just a fancier version at the same scale as the previous $20 version?  That price is pretty crazy and probably pumped up by the Vader we don't need and extra wing panels.

I would have much preferred that if they're going to do an all new sculpt to do something like the TIE Avenger from Andor.

Wow I was thinking $90 tops if the Landspeeder was $60…that’s a ridiculous price (but I’ll still buy one  :-[)

I’m happy with the announcement.  I think Vader’s TIE had been overdue for an update.  And this really does look much more like the miniature used to film trench run.

I expected a Vader pack-in figure, and it’s nice to get a different filmout from ANH instead of the image that dates back to 1978.

As for the price?  Sheesh!!!

$140 is insane for this.  Sorry, but come on.  That’s only a little less than a third of what the Ghost cost with brand new pack-in figures.

Tempted not to buy it at that price.

Makes me wonder if they’re starting with some tariff pricing cushion since the current pause is just for 90 days, and might lower it later?

The price is definitely a big deterrent.  As for how they got there?  I look at the size of it along with some comparable recent vehicle releases.  The E Wing, the modified N1 Starfighter, and even the most recent X-Wing have all been priced over $100.  So that’s part of the precedent.

Can Hasbro ever re-purpose some of the design assets of the TIE Advanced X-1 for any future releases?  I thought that *MAYBE* the wings could be the basis for an updated TIE Bomber, but I’m not completely sure.  So if this new Vader TIE is a “one and done” situation?  I can see Hasbro using that to justify the price.  And we’re kind of locked into that price because items rarely go on sale on Hasbro Pulse.

The way I look at vehicle prices and whether it's fair or justified is to break it down into how many figures could I get for that price? And since this set comes with a figure, the TIE is worth 6 TVC figures.

That's equal to the $30 price of the POTF2 version. So why am I shaking my head and saying no thanks this time?

Must be because $20 action figures have quickly become an item I can rarely justify as well.

Wow, I honestly didn’t expect a price quite that high. I figured $100, since that’s kind of where things have been hovering lately, but yeesh. That said, I do want one. It hasn’t been redone in a looong time, and I’m a sucker for OT vehicles. The prices stink, but we have been getting some nice OT re-dos lately with the X-Wing, Landspeeder, Bantha, and now this.

Yeah, If this was going to be a $100-110 item like the recent X-Wings and E-Wing but then you add in 30% for tariffs, you get $130-143.

Sure makes it seem like the $140 is tariff related.

The $140 is definitely a shock. I thought it'd be $110-$120, just slightly to moderately higher than the e-wing. But I figured with all the crazy prices due to a whole bunch of reasons over the last 5+ years, the $140 would be in line.

I plugged in $110, the price for Merrick's x-wing from 2019, into an inflation calculator. Sure enough, $138 in today's prices.

(I recognize inflation isn't the only determinant in a product's price, but, eh...)
