Boba Fett First Shot Carded
« on: June 6, 2003, 09:21 AM »
Well heres the latest Scam on eBay. A Boba Fett First Shot Carded Early Production figure.
First Shot Boba Fett

The seller has way to much time on his hands to try & sucker some least expecting bidder on this. He even has a Certificate of Authenticity that comes with it.   ::)

Hey Dale, would it be possible to inform everyone here WHY it is a fake?  I know I'd like to know how you came up with that assumption, but I'm more than certain you're correct about it.  There are some newbie vintage collectors out here, and this would be a good learning experience.

I love his statement... "((PLEASE)) I DO NOT WANT ANY EMAILS FROM ANY SELF APPOINTED STAR WARS EXPERTS."

So Dale, have you emailed this guy yet???   8)

So it is written, so it shall be done.  :-*

This was actually brought up over at RS.
Carded first-shot Boba Fett?

This seller had his auction bid on for $5000. then relisted it for $2500. He said that he was not sure if the buyer for $5000. would come through. Now, IMHO if this thing was real, why relist it cheaper?
This has never been carded in this way. The card is way to clean & the bubble is wrong. Interesting notes on the toysrgus archive:
Carded Toy Fair Sample
There are not to many Rocket Fetts out there ethier:
Rocket Fett L-Slot Version
Rocket Fett J-Slot Version

Not to mention that he has sold this fake prior:
"J-SLOT" BOBA FETT PROTOTYPE
The buyer even posted positive feedback. He thinks he got the real deal.

He even sold this piece of garbage:
BOBA FETT** FIRST SHOT/PAINT TEST**
Cheaps tags added to the figure & not to mention also that the photo of the figures back is the same as the one on the archive & the withe dust marks are in the same spot:
J-Slot Rocket Firing Boba Fett First Shot

Now this is one nice Rocket Fett:

Only thing about it is, I own this figure. It is Fake!
Its a custom made by Bantha5 on RS. I too can take this figure & make a card & glue a bubble on it & try to pass it off as real & print my own Certificate of Authenticity to go with it.
If the seller says the Rocket Fett on auction is real. then why not have Tom Derby at Cloud City Collectibles take a look at it & authenticate it.

Heck, I could even make a card & bubble & try to pass this custom figure I have.

It all comes down to, check & know your vintage stuff. Ask on the forums that are out there for help. Another great place to look is the toysrgus archive for anything that you are interested in. Read, look at photo's, ask questions & learn. I know I have learnt alot in the past few years.  ;)
I hope this will explain it a little better.  :)

The Saga continues.

This is weird. He just ended the auction for this reason:
The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the minimum bid or Reserve amount.

There was no reserve on it. It opened at $2500. & had 3 bids on it making it $3,750.
Now he relists it again.

3rd Listing

That third listing is showing up as "invalid."  Wonder why!?    ???

And Dale, thanks for the detailed explanation of these auctions.   ;D
