OK, already ascended to the top of the Medal Count, with 4 now (1G, 1S, 2B).  Hopefully we stay in that top spot for the next two weeks!   8)

Even picked up a Sailing Medal!   :P

Huh, nobody belittling the USA "Hoops" team...what a bunch of stiffs.  Any team that elects Iverson as their Captain deserves the stuff they are getting :-*

Medals (Ranked 3 pts Gold, 2 pts Silver, 1 pt Bronze)

1. China 10 Gold - 4 Silver - 1 Bronze = 39 (15 total)

2. Australia 6 Gold - 2 Silver - 4 Bronze = 26 (12 total)

3. USA 3 Gold - 4 Silver - 5 Bronze = 22 (12 total)

4. Russia 1 Gold - 5 Silver - 2 Bronze = 17 (8 total)

5. Japan 4 Gold - 1 Silver - 1 Bronze = 17 (6 total)

Yeah, I was gonna mention that Hoops fiasco yesterday, but never got around to it.  Just pathetic.  Not sure what the hell the deal is with men's U.S. teams...  Hell, our baseball team ("America's pastime", mind you) didn't even freaking qualify for the Olympics.  Talk about embarrassing...   ::)

Our whole Olympics is just way down this year.  Disappointing.  We suck now.

China and the Aussies are kicking some serious ass though.  Congrats Hemish!   ;)

11 of our 12 medals are in swimming.  Guess that's the only thing we can do anymore...   :-\

Oddly enough, our Sailing medal from the first day seems to have disappeared from the Medal Count.  Guess that must've been an error, or something.  Thought it was odd we won a sailing medal.  Guess not...

One thing I'll say is that our Olympic women kick serious ass over our men!

You can almost guarantee a gold for the lovely duo of Misty May and Kerri Walsh in women's beach volleyball.  I wouldn't mind being spiked by one of those two.

Yeah, they kick MAJOR ass.  90 wins in a row on the beach circuit, up until just recently.  Absolutely dominant.  Only question is whether May's stomach is fully healed.  Sure hope so!

The men's teams (beach v-ball) are looking crappy though.  Blanton's already gotten punked (should've stuck with Fonoi), and the other pair barely squeeked by the Aussies yesterday.  I actually played beach volleyball a few times against Blanton's gold medal winning teammate in Sydney - Eric Fonoimoana.  He used to come by our dorms at UCSB my freshman year and play with us, since one of his UCSB teammates was a buddy of mine in the dorms.  Of course, he generally kicked our asses pretty good, but that goes without saying...   ;)

Love me some beach!  God, I miss playing it.  Probably my favorite sport ever...

and speaking of great sports, Canada wins it's first medal.  Bronze in synchronized diving.  ::)  At least it was 10m.  Still.
