As we reported yesterday StarWarsShop.com will have an Exclusive Figure this fall. The word on the street is that this will be an OTC Emperor Palpatine. Not sure if this will be a recarded Saga figure or a new sculpt at this time. Experience from the OTC line indicates a recard, however. Keep tuned for more info as we receive it.

Scott, I really hope you're hearing wrong on this, but it sounds like it's becoming more and more likely.   If it turns out to be something that terrible... oh man, I think my head will explode.

Has anyone at Hasbro or the Fanclub figured out that Saga Palpatine sucks? I mean, there's nothing redeeming about the figure at all. It was a complete botch job. I'd take that Spirit Anakin with Hayden noggin over that turd in a second.  And that's not even the point I'm upset about.

This confirms the greed and contempt for fans from Hasbro regarding the OTC line. "It's for kids and new customers discovering the Original Trilogy for the first time." My ass. This (if true) is a flat-out manipulation of the carded collectors and exclusives hounds. We've reached a new low.

They netted $3,138,657 in '03 ver $2,816,230 in'02. They barely turned a profit in '03 - net earnigs of $157,664. They were in the hole in '02, a SW movie year. I can't see why they're in a rush for Ep3 unless they have a completely different strategy this time around (haha).

Exclusives are bad for everybody nowadays. Just a few short years ago, I remember NOT acting with disgust when Kenner offered Oola, the Monk, or any other mailaway.

Just thought I'd point out that those numbers in the chart are in THOUSANDS of dollars.

As in, Hasbro netted $3,138,657,000 in 2003.  3 Billion dollars.  "Boys Toys was around 1.1 BILLION net, games and puzzles around 1.3 BIllion, everything else (Girls Toys, Wizards, etc) makes up the rest.

The "weak" profits after taxes and everything else were $157 million.  Just a bit more than "barely" in my book.

The other option is that its an OTC "vintage" Emperor. They had the mail-away Emperor around the time of ROTJ, so maybe Hasbro's going for the nostalgia sale.
