"Godspeed, John Glenn.”
My wife and I were just talking about John Glenn and what an amazing ass kicker he was, and how people of successive generations (ours) can even begin to match up to a stud like him and some of his peers.
- Fighter pilot in WWII and Korea
- Test pilot
- First American to orbit the earth
- Took a ride on a Space Shuttle and spent nine days in space at age 77
- Served as a Senator for 25 years
Any one of those is a big deal for anyone's legacy. He did all five without breaking a sweat.
Who, under 50, would you even begin to compare to the likes of John Glenn? You could probably pick a few business people like Elon Musk that have done some pretty cool things, but its hard to think of anyone even remotely in his league.
