I like this idea:

Active/Starting:
2 C
2 LW
2 RW
4 Def
1 G

5 Bench (1 for each C, LW, RW, D, G)

16 players per team in a good # I think...

Sounds ultimatley fair, Brent. You could leave that last draft round out and let us all scramble and trade over free agency.

So as it looks right now, I can only start one goalie per night? It doesn't look that way on the team page...looks like two per night.

Kevin

No, you saw it right the first time Kev, it's two goalies starting.  Your assumption that we had five positions and four spares is accurate.  I'll probably just mess with things to make it an additional round, so there'll be five spares.

It's two full lines starting and then four (will be five) bench positions.

I need to know if we are starting 1 goalie per night, or two goalies per night...and if we are starting 2 per night, do we get 2 full seasons worth of games, or divide 1 seasons worth of games over 2 goalies?

Kevin

EDIT: okay, we're all on the same page, we start 2 goalies per night, and each one gets to play a full season's worth of games.

Yup, that's right.

I made the change on the yahoo league site, we now have 5 bench positions.

Not sure if I mentioned before, but we do have one injured reserve position as well.  So if you lose one guy, you don't have to drop him to pick up a spare.  If you lose two guys though, you have to make a decision to ride it out or dump him.  It's the same as the baseball league.

Doesn't look like Jamie is making an appearance tonite.  I'll check in the morning in case he's made his picks, otherwise I won't be back on until after 5:30pm PST tomorrow after work.

Brent - I PMd you 3 players you can use as my next pick after Jamie makes his 2 selections.  And looking back at the big board, I missed a name that I would have taken as my 1st overall pick!  We'll see if I get him with pick #2.

Much to everyone's dismay, Jason selects:

Rick Nash, LW.

Sorry Jeff.  You're up.

I'm zipping out for about 2 hours from this post, will post Scott's pick when I get back.  The sodbuster's probably not out of bed yet anyway.

Hmmm...

Marian Hossa, Atl, RW

Let's hope he gets along well with Kovachuk.   ;)

I think it's a good pick Jeff.  I honestly believe that Ottawa picked up damaged goods in Heatley.  I hope he'll prove me wrong for his own sake, but I'm of the opinion Atlanta won on that trade.  The only hitch is Kovalchuk really liked Heatley personally and they'd become friends (presumably Kovalchuk did the driving :-X).  No idea how the chemistry will be with Hossa, though I've not heard anything bad about him and he is one of my favorite players.

BTW, you guys know what the sodbuster's schedule is for today?  Will he be around this afternoon (Jesse)?

That was fast!  Pick coming....

Mats Sundin, C, Toronto

It can be a real crap shoot relying on Toronto to do well, but I think Sundin is a reliable point scorer.

I'll have Scott's pick right after Jesse the bumpkin's.  Then I have to head out again for a couple more hours.
