Rogue One / Re: Rogue One Toy Rumors

I wonder if this isn't a 6 inch set, because I kind of don't see where a Probe droid / Vader set would fit in within the 3.75 line. I mean it could be an exclusive so what do I know. I loved that thing so curious to see what's up with it.

The Imperial set has been $15 here in Iowa. Tons of them at Wally.

I'm glad to see the statement too and I think the sensitivity of the issue warranted it. I think it also likely means Leia will exit the series in VIII and they'll rework the ending somehow to accommodate that. I just think there's too many hurdles otherwise to achieve what apparently was a substantial role in IX. Breaks my heart having to talk about any of this really.

I thought about the R2/3-PO thing. Very close to being a major continuity error. You could argue the ship hadn't left yet but I want to say someone informed Mothma he had already. Maybe he was about to.

Disney is denying it as of today:

I seriously doubt anyone is bothering her family over something like this now. IX starts filming a year from now so they have plenty of time to work out what to do with Leia. If that involves some kind of digital anything, then there is enormous amounts of time to work that out. There is no need for them to even go there now without any understanding of what they would be using or if they would be using it, especially with a script that is likely nowhere near complete.

As for what I'd like to see done with Leia personally, I really don't know. There are no good options. One is to recast her, which I think is a non-starter. Another is the digital route, which depending on how necessary Leia is to the resolution - I'd think very - may be the only option. The last would be to simply kill her offscreen (cheap and unfulfilling) or let her disappear out of the narrative (on a mission to such and such) also cheap and unfulfilling. It's going to be a tough decision for them to make.

Yeah, this is going to be fun.  :)

I would think with all the overlap between Rogue One and ANH and also between the DVD release window and the actual anniversary there would be more than enough justification for Hasbro at retail to really go a little broad in terms of offerings. I seriously doubt that, though. The unexpected AT-ST at WM gives some hope there will be X-Wings and TIE Fighters or things like that, but not sure. I think we'll get like 12 or so 6 inch figures - which I figure will be the original 12, since only 2 remain outstanding after the Tusken Raider - and some kind of 6 inch vehicle. I'm thinking the Landspeeder, but maybe if they're nuts, then an X-Wing.

For the mainline... pretty sure it will be 5 POA on vintage cards. I would like to see unmade stuff, but I honestly don't know what that is at this point. I'm literally blanking on wants from the Cantina or something, but I know there are a few. I'd personally like to see a Farmboy Luke, Obi-Wan and maybe a Tusken Raider in the 5POA range but don't need them either.

My local store is finally on the chopping block. Been a dump for years, but was the place really for toys back in the day. Spent an ungodly amount of time there as a kid. My mom would go for the blue light specials which I think were all like on one night and you had to kind of camp out to see what they were. I'd just drop anchor in the toy aisle, or the electronics department.

Having seen it again the other day, Tarkin says: "Target the base at Scarif. Single reactor ignition." So the intent is to destroy the base wholesale, which does make the way the shot is delivered odd, unless the base is so vast that some of it is located off in the horizon there but again, this is all to justify what is dramatically necessary.

Well going back to the earlier conversation in the thread - why not just blow the whole planet? Why the odd (but dramatically convenient) shot that strikes the tower before hitting what appears to be pointless real estate miles away from the base? None of it makes a whole lot of sense except the movie needed to have Krennic eat it (nuke dropped on fly) and Jyn/Cassian die slow and sad.

I think the intent was to destroy the entire base. Going to see it again tomorrow so I'll listen close at that bit, but pretty sure Tarkin meant to wipe out the entire base and everything in it (plans) to prevent any leaks.

He's fairly prominent in the Scarif ground battle. I believe he buys it trying to get to the master switch before Chirrut does. I'd be all for multiple versions of the Rebels on Scarif. Lots of cool variations there.

Not sure if anyone else has seen this but appears to be a listing for Wave 4 at Robotkingdom with some surprises:

Sefla for those wondering is one of the (many) Rebel soldiers from Scarif I've wanted them to make, so this is great.

This is one of those that is very hard to explain without simply saying, 'Because it's a movie.' The angle provides both a fitting and quick end to Krennic atop the tower, while also allowing a dramatic, slow build death for Jyn and Cassian. Otherwise, there's no in universe explanation for such a clumsy shot outside of the quickness Jesse mentioned. If haste was their chief concern, then they could have destroyed the entire planet in a single shot without giving the Rebels any time at all to run around, kiss their asses goodbye, etc. I could speculate the beam simply making contact with the tower would be sufficient to cause a blast similar to Jedha City, but without knowing exactly the mechanics of the energy dynamics at play and not caring I'm fine with that the way it is.
