Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Star Trek

I'm all about the new show.

Recognizing that the Discovery was the McQuarrie Enterprise while watching the teaser was about the most geek moment I've had in a long time. I love the ship and also think there is some Klingonish elements to it. Another clue is the music in the teaser which is reminiscent of past Klingon cues. That's one reason I think the show could take place in the post TNG era. The registry would indicate otherwise but I don't know I would put much stock in that, as the registries during the TNG era were not always simpatico with what was understood. Another example is Star Trek Beyond. MILD SPOILERS - The USS Franklin is apparently a ship that predates Archer's Enterprise, the NX-01. The Franklin is stated as being the first Warp 4 ship; the Enterprise was the first warp 5 ship, yet the Franklin's registry is NX-324. What is very likely with the Franklin given the circumstantial evidence in the movie is that she was refit and/or reclassed at some point in her service life and given an incongruous registry.

The Discovery registry is an apparent nod to the space shuttle Discovery's registry - OV-103 - and that may be all there is to it. That said there were some rumors at one point that the show was taking place in The Undiscovered Country timeframe and maybe there's something to that. Myself I'd prefer going forward, but I'm up for whatever this show has got.

Holy ****.

I love the NECA Aliens stuff. I'd buy all of it but I've limited myself to SW. Amazing though.

Love the new 6 inch reveals. Glad to see Lando, Hera, Tusken Raider and the Royal Guard. Gives me hope we will see the Jawas eventually and probably the Gamorrean Guard. For a minute there I was thinking probably not.

I like the AT-ACT, would like to see it up close and personal. I think the app feature is a brilliant idea. This kind of interactivity is really where toys in general need to be to compete with iPads, video games, etc.

I like the figs shown. Love the troopers. SA versions will certainly come through Wally World though I actually have more 5 POA TFA troops than the SA mostly on account of bad paint apps and availability. Hopefully that gets better. Was hoping for more RO reveals today but you know this is way better than last year and I kind of like surprises anyways.

Could care less about this poll or suggested shenanigans. If Jania is in the Jedi outfit she had when they made her in TLC back when I'd be inclined to buy her. Glad to see a lot of notables among the voting at various sites (Lando, Royal Guard) make it regardless.

3.75" Death Trooper is on display now.

Diorama with RO Stormtrooper and Shore Trooper with AT-ACT - the trooper that comes with the walker appears to be different than standard issue Shore Trooper. Likely the Driver.

My guess on Luke (we'll find out tomorrow) is that since 8 was originally slated for May of '17, they decided to hold on him due to the reasons Jeff mentioned. The first Episode 8 figures would have dropped anywhere from January-May. So unless they decided to hold him completely for 8 now that it's coming in December, we'll see him probably next spring. Or not.

+1 Jesse.

OT astromechs (no expert) are largely accounted for. There are some PT stragglers, the most prominent of which is R5-X2 who ideally should have featured here as it was planned as one of the BAD's during the cancelled BAD run in 2013ish. There were no astromechs of note in TFA (outside of Poe's stop gap black/orange droid that did get a BAD figure in the park I think). Hopefully Rogue One supplies with lots of droids we'll struggle to remember years from now.

LOVE the packaging, though not a packaging guy. But still. Very cool. R2-A5 - wanted him for so long I totally forgot about him. CW love - I loved all the CW droids so this is nice. Jabba's bartender - super obscure but welcome. The price stings a bit but reality bites.

Totally called the commentary going on right now. The snake is eating its own tail with this stuff. I don't know what people want or expect and really who cares. We want, we want, we want and we get, we get, we get and still it's not enough.  ???

Yeah, I'm already imaging the comments tomorrow (or Friday) of how this is yet another Hasbro let down to collectors and blah, blah, blah. I'm up for whatever. Hoping there's something really unexpected in there but thinking whatever it is probably repaints or kit bashes. Which isn't really a bad thing.

Some of these were part of the exhibit I saw in Paris a few years back. Amazing stuff. My only regret is you couldn't take pics so the ones I got were few and not very good. At least three Palitoy vinyl cape Jawas. Sigh.

I think the sculpt is great. I don't know it 100% looks like the actress, but it's light years beyond whatever is going on with Leia right now. I think the packaging on this is fun but like the TFA trooper last year, non essential. I like the green though. I actually thought they'd be changing up the look this fall as they typically do, and green would probably be the color choice due to the Death Trooper's apparent greenish accents.

Great catch on the droids... wondering if it's possibly from the Droids cartoon, or someone is, because he did say in one of his many pot stirring posts somewhere that one of the figures had appeared previously in a non realistic form. Took that to mean from CW as he DQ'd Rebels, but who knows. Maybe from Droids. I'd love it. Doubt it. This is definitely one of the highlights of the year so far. Looking forward to seeing the final product and hoping to be wowed by the choices.

Me too. Thinking a jawa theme but maybe not as the blurb seems to suggest otherwise and not sure there's 5 figures left in that segment of the movie. I'm game.

Cool. Appears to be a two pack with a Resistance officer and Snowtrooper (white shoulder).
