Heh, checked RS.  Cory's kicking up a storm.  Cool.

Seems as though there wasn't much in the way of an announcement.  Oh well.

Scott, most of the guys I trade with are already here.  Though sadly I seem to do relatively little trading these days, more buying.  Just don'thave too much to trade.  Still manage to trade with fellow Canucks, but you and Jim and most accomodating for trading.  Matt and Karen are helpful with lightening my bank account and then a few random trades, many of which are with folks already here (eg. Dain_Bramage).

I do most of my McFarlane stuff at that board.  Sad as it is, retail is irrelevant there, so better for me to get more cash/value since that is what others tend to charge.

what you are about to read will be denied at any and all opportunities, should the good Mrs. Bug wander into the room.

Remember that thread about all the junk/toys in my office?  Well, like dustrho's buddy, I get all my stuff delivered to work.  As I indicated in the other thread, two reasons.  The one I listed was security - from theft, weather etc. and that's true.  The other, unlisted reason was so that they could later be stealthily deployed at home.

I have a pile of stuff at work and at home.  We have a crawl space and the Mrs. is rather claustrophobic at times, so she won't go into it.   ;D  I am not and will happily.  there are about 8 huge tupperware tubs down there and all that stuff will eventually make its way out to display, but slowly.  Add to that all the McFarlane stuff I have and boom, tons o toys and tons o $$.
Like Scott, I don't question what my wife spends her money on, so I believe that gives me justification (hey, I said believe ok).

I think I've convinced myself to get rid of many of the McFarlane hockey figures (keeping the goalies) except for a few of my favorites.  That should eat up less display room though I still need to get 19 goalies (after NHL5) and variants (10) home and on display without raising the ire of the Mrs.  Eight of those goalies have no variants BTW, unless you get into the whole logo-no logo water bottle discussion.  Three football players to get home too.

Then I've got to get the Marvel Legends type stuff home too.  Fortunately the Simpsons stuff will just stay at work.

Wife goes away for a week in August with the buglet ;)

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Ever Walk Out of A Movie?
« on: May 27, 2003, 12:56 PM »
I have walked out of a couple of movies. Spiderman being one of them.

Really, why?  It certainly wasn't true to the comic books in so many details, but what made you leave? Curious, I am.

Well, being one that ranks TPM at the bottom of my SW list all the time, I don't think it's fair.  TPM for a SW movie is not great, but that's after 3 years of reflection (4?).

TPM had me pumped beforehand, I was extremely excited.  I enjoyed the movie.  I thought Jake Lloyd was not a great choice, but hey, the kid pulled it off and was suitably petulant in the role, something that carried over into the next movie and what I feel is important for the role.  The Maul/Qui-Gon/Obi trifecta was wonderful.  The effects were grand.  It's only after reflection that I criticize the movie.

Let's see someone else fire up a movie/sequel 22 years after the original and make a great one.  Not bloody likely.

Thanks Matt, I was not aware.  Further, I had sold/traded LOTR and McFarlane stuff there previously.  This is quite surprising to me.  In a sense I can understand it, notably if McFarlane items (eg. sportspicks) were involved because of the distinct mentalities that would conflict.  SW being traded at fair retail value whereas ebay value dominates sportspicks.

I must say I am dissappointed.  While I've become a little less interested in RS of late, it was still my first choice for trading.  I completed so many trades out of that board that it's kind of scary.  Most of you guys I met over there, so to see this is surprising.  Judging by the conversations over there, lots (most?) of people collect much more than just star wars.  Simpsons, LOTR, McFarlane, Marvel Legends are pretty universal for a whole lot of folks.

Oh well, not for me to say.

Alright, how many of you "sneak" toys into your house or perhaps just stealthily slide a new figure onto the shelf or into storage?  Does your significant other have a clue as to either the volume or the dollar value (what you spend)?

If you're not married and living with your parents, do you sneak stuff past them (much more risky to me than doing same with spouse)?

Well, there ya go.  Thanks Scott.  That would indeed be the other case I ordered ;D so I will have her.

And since Matt indicated, I presume that indeed is a stand.  I like stands, they help, so good on ya Hasbro.  Might as well make use of that huge freaking bubble.

it's a really great thing you are doing helping all these guys out.  Kudos to you for that.

Not to rub it in, but....

Karma grabbed my two droids and mailed them out today ;D  The third isn't yet available at Disneyworld (the flying one, whatever its name may be).

What's the clear rectangle in the upper left corner?  A stand?

If she's in Wave 15, I guess I have one of her coming too.  I suppose that is better than monkey face, but not sure why this one needed to be redone.  I sure hope she isn't overproduced or overpacked.  She won't sell well.  My opinion is that the collector market won't respond well.  Don't think to many of the kids will buy it either.

I like the cards too, but I haven't been keeping too much carded lately.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Salsa. Mild, medium or hot?
« on: May 26, 2003, 11:42 PM »
Yeah, we definitely aren't west where salsa is hot.  Carrie is of course correct, fresh is better.

In Hawaii this past December, had Maui Tacos.  Pretty good and the Salsa was indeed fresh.  The pineapple salsa was quite a treat.

I've been pretty lucky lately and more than a couple of local places carry a variety of hot sauces.  Initially it was one small kiosk in a mall, but one of the larger grocery chains sort of stole the poor guys thunder, but save me about $4 for the small bottles.  I'll get an inventory for you guys in a couple of days so you can see the list of stuff to mess up yer innards that resides in my house.

I will say I'm not necessarily into hot for the sake of hot.  I have to like the flavor as well.  So the flaming _______ sort of sauces aren't really for me, unless the wife and kid are out of town and lots of beer will be consumed. ;)  More importantly so no innocent victims are harmed the next day :o

Vintage Kenner / Re: Most Expensive Cardbacks

And proof of another reason I won't go chasing Vintage.  I know diddly and I would get taken in a second.  Loose, someday, maybe.  But I just can't afford this sort of stuff.

One lucky SOB is right.  Just read on another board a suggestion that Canadian Walmarts won't be carrying ANY SW product until October :'(

You can't post non-SW items for sale/trade at RS?  Really?  Has that always been a rule?  Who knew?

Just trying to get a better image of you folks.
