Maybe next year, we can make Brent drive down here to Minny to pick me up, then the two of us can stop in WI and pick you up on the way to Chicago for a game.   :D

Count me in!  You guys tell me the game and I'll handle the tickets.

I'm going to be in Chicago on March 5th for a conference and just found out I have a free night, so I got a ticket to the Balckhawks/Wild game at the UC.  It's my birthday the following weekend, so I'm chalking the ticket up as this year's present.  I don't get the opportunity to go to many games as tickets are pretty hard to come by and I'm up in WI, so I'm really looking forward to this.  The tickets are one section over from the Hawks' bench and I'm in row two.  I'll try to make a sign saying 'hi' to all my MN JD friends watching the game in case they show me!

I'm in, although I don't know why I continue to bother as I am destined to end my season in obscurity as I have the last five years...

Star Wars Universe / Re: Star Wars Movie Spin-Offs?

As for a Boba Fett project, the boundaries seems far more open.  I think since establishing Temuera Morrison as Jango Fett and the older clones in Attack Of The Clones and Revenge Of The Sith (and voicing Boba Fett in the DVD version of TESB), it would make sense to have him play Boba Fett.  And considering the previous rumors of Zach Snyder being involved in a Star Wars project, I could really see him doing something great with a Boba Fett film.

I fully agree with this, my only concern is that Disney would look at Temuera and think 'no way we can have him play the character and expect a big box office draw, whether it's SW or not.'  If they did have a moment of clarity and allowed him to play BF and keep the continuity between the films, then I would expect that there would be some big names also associated with the film in order to get the draw they would want from a SW film.

We have the Target ones, but didn't realize that they were not 'Dishwasher Safe', so the decals are kinda melted off off on the edges.  However, we still use them.

I can remember having all the BK ones as a kid but I know they all broke due to normal wear.  Those were always my favorites and would birng them out when I had friends over and we needed a Kool-Aid break.

I think a bounty hunters movie could be great if they don't take it too seriously.  I could see this being something where Jabba puts out a bounty on someone and all the bounty hunters are competing against each other to see who can get him/her.  They would not only have to worry about finding who they are looking for, but also worrying about who's going to pop up next to sabotage them.  They could also set it before ANH so Greedo could be back!

Crap, sounds like I bought my Taylor Made Catalina 3.0 golf bag too early.  That would have been perfect!  Can't wait to see the pictures of the final version!

Any of you catch the article on Yahoo! about all the Hurricane Sandy flood salvage vehicles?

I browsed the site for about an hour looking at everything from boats to exotic cars and construction vehicles.

Anyone ever purchase a salvage vehicle with water/flood damage?  A buddy of mine picked up a Chevy Tahoe years ago that was a flood salvage vehicle and has never had anything wrong with it beyond normal wear.  Curious to hear if he was just lucky or if others have also purchased flood damage vehicles and had no problems.

Quite possibly one of the worst calls I've ever seen in last night's Blackhawks/Blue Jackets game, but I'm not complaining too much as it helped the Hawks get to their best start in almost 40 years.  I don't expect them to keep this up, but it's been fun to watch so far.  I don't think they are going to have much in the tank against Detroit this afternoon, and after today they start a 6 game road trip.  Pretty rough start to the season to have only two games at home out of eleven.  Thankfully they have a seven game home stand after that.

I stand corrected, they had just enough in the tank to get the win.  Great PK tonight despite the high intensity from Detroit.  They'll be taking their best start in franchise history on the road to MN on Wednesday.

Middle Earth / Lego LOTR - The Video Game
« on: December 27, 2012, 09:54 AM »
Received this for Christmas and can't wait to get this going with my sons.  Anyone already have this?  How is the play vs other Lego video games that have been released?

The boys also received Lego Batman II DC Superheroes for Christmas, so we'll have a lot of Lego gaming going on in our house this winter break.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: 'The Hobbit' movie
« on: December 15, 2012, 05:50 PM »
I'm sure that I'm going to be in the minority for saying this, but I wasn't overly impressed with this one as I was with the LOTR trilogy.  Yes, the scenery was great and the costumes were great, and it's great that they finally brought the Hobbit to the big screne.  But other than Andy Serkis' performance (which was the best part of the movie IMO), that's about it...  It just didn't have the same affect on me that the LOTR trilogy did when I watched it.  There just wasn't that 'real' feeling to this movie.  There was a lot more CGI feeling to this than I was expecting.

Maybe it was because I watched Fellowship while I was waiting in the theater for one of the midnight shows.  Maybe it was because I only saw it in 2D.  I'm hoping that it's just because I was over tired that I'm not gushing about it.  I'm planning another 3D viewing with a friend next week, so hopefully I'll have a different opinion afterward.

The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars Episode VII
« on: December 10, 2012, 10:22 PM »
I think that there might be a glimmer of hope that they will use some of what is already out there in the EU, or at least not completely ditch what has been written.  From this month's Insider interview with Kathleen Kennedy and George Lucas:

Lucas: ...I have story treatments of Episodes VII, VIII and IX and a bunch of other movies and obviously we have hundreds of books and comics, and everything you could possibly imagine.  I moved that treasure trove of stories and various things to Kathleen and I have complete confidence that she's going to take them and make great movies.

I didn't read this to say they are completely ditching the EU and will not use any of it.  In fact, there was another part from that interview that talks about how Lucas will be there to make sure there is continuity between the new movies and what is already been penned:

Lucas: ...I mean, I can tell you the mythology.  That's all my job is, is to be the keeper of the flame, and just make sure that it's consistent...

Kennedy: ...I like to think as we move forward that the fans are on board, they help us, they support what it is we're trying to do.  The main thing is to protect the characters and that they still continue to live in the way that George created them.  And that the universe of Star Wars continues to grow in ways they can get excited about...

Kennedy: ...These are original stories and original ideas that come out of a world that, essentially, is in George's head.  So the beauty of the collaboration that can continue, as we work our way through these scripts, if we're sitting there going, "Hmm... I wonder if this character can do that?" or "Does this make sense within the rules of Star Wars?" I think there's so much that's been written about Star Wars that falls outside of what happened in the movies that he's the keeper of the flame.

So I'll keep my fingers crossed over the next several years hoping they don't completely f-up decades worth of great stories, characters and worlds.  Here's to the future of Star Wars, and a hope that its new beginning is as great as it was back in 1977!
