Kubricks / Re: Pilot Jango and Young Boba Fett 2-Pack
« on: July 21, 2009, 12:00 AM »
I just now noticed that this Jango from the 2-pack has a purple suit whereas the other Jangos have blue suits under all that silver armor.  I picked up a spare Jango recently (thanks Doc!) to use the helmet for display with the 2-pack version, when I noticed it doesn't really match him like it does the other versions.  I think it looks okay though.  (Tip: the helmet pops off, it's not glued on, but there sure is a good airtight seal to fight while doing so.  And, there's just a plain white kub head underneath.  I was sort of hoping for a face.  :D)

So instead, you shock us here?   :)  That's too bad, there were many good discussions there.  Were there no backups?  I don't know how these boards really work or are maintained, but I'd think something would have/should have been saved along the way.

Ah well, at least that mini-photo on kubricknation.blogspot.com that leads you to the discussion boards is still there.  That was mine.   ;D

Well, this set isn't out yet but is expected to be released this month, so, in the next two weeks.  I've got one on order, and I hope to hear about it soon.

Anyone have any insight on the missing center leg of this R2 droid?  Seems like an expensive fix to customize if it is indeed missing, in that I'd have to cull that part from another Rx-droid, and none of the previous releases is too plentiful.  Plus, I hate to hack up perfectly good kubs.  Then again, all the others have it, so this one would look a bit odd without it.

Which two are those?

For me, I had a ton of carded figures I was saving/not opening, including the Batman movie series, All the SW stuff, Kinnikuman, and several odd ones like a Japanese soccer player and singer.  I had all my others in cases, and every time I looked at my case display, I missed seeing the others, since they were some of my favorites.  I didn't want to maintain two different types of displays and so I opened all my carded figures.  The first one was a bit difficult but once I cased them all, I was happy I did it.

Having said that, I do still retain one figure on card: the Indiana Jones that came with the watch from last year.  I just like the card that much.

Yeah, I wasn't counting 400%s, carded repeats, or Jangos.

My count:
- series 1: 3
- Fett series: 9
- carded droids: 1
- young Boba from the 2-pack: 1  I thought I'd fool some folks with sneaking that one into the count unnamed, but apparently not.   :)

= 14

Are there other unique 100% Boba Fett figures not in the above list?  I thought all the carded ones except for the Droids version, were repeats/repacks.  No?

So, does anyone have all 14 Boba Fett figures yet?  I don't have the J-slot but my all-gray chase is coming in about a week and I'll snap a pic of the 13 then.

The C-3PO paired with R2, while not vac-metallic like the upcoming 400%er, looks to be more gold than the initial version from the Early Bird set.  In fact, it looks identical to the ROTJ Deluxe series C-3PO with Salacious Crumb, except for the pulled-out eye.

I always thought the Early Bird Threepio color/tint was too yellowy/gray, drab gold, and not orange enough, if that makes sense.  Though I'd love a vac-metallic 100% C-3PO (and an R2 with vac-metal shiny silver dome, for that matter), this is enough of a difference for me to get him.

Heck, I'm still looking for the Scout Trooper that came with the Speeder Bike, even though his only difference from the regular series 7 version is dirty feet.  :)

You get your kubs from South Africa?    ;D   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pondo

Seriously though, I don't know what you mean.

I just noticed there is no center leg for the R2-B1 pictured in this set, which is different from R2-D2, R2-Q5, R5-D4, and R5-J2, all of which have the center leg.  Think this one won't have that extra piece?  Or, is it retractable?  I'll have to check my droids.

I just didn't want to put all the B/W ones side by side, so I alternate them with the color ones.

For Star Wars: it's hard to beat Dagobah Luke with Yoda in backpack.

Non-Star Wars: Special Forces Land Warrior, with lots of ties for a close second: Michael Keaton movie Batman, Indy (the more recent darker brown one for me wins), Levis Miner, Big Comic Original baseball player, Captain America, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Tiger Mask purple tiger, and Casshern (red).

Love the different colored trooper versions.  I wish Medicom would crank out more of these, there's certainly plenty to choose from.  Glad we got Gree, but I'd think the Shocktrooper would have been officially produced by now.

Again, great job.  Care to snap a pic of all your troopers, stock and custom, together?

Ah, but he, along with Gree, add much needed color to this series.  And if you get them both, it's like Christmas: gifts for yourself, plus they're red and green.   :D

No, unfortunately, they appear to be sold out everywhere still.  I think Medicom manufactures these in waves, though.  Last time I needed some, they were also not available, then later, stores started getting them again, so I bought big at the time, though I'm running out again.  Feast or famine, it seems.  But I have hope they'll become available again in the future.  I sure hope so, since I keep buying kubs.   :)
