Other Toy Lines / Re: Transformers

TFormers has some pics up of what may be the toy of the movie Soundwave figure.

Ya.  It's lame - just like almost all of the first movie toys.  I liked the movie and the designs, but not so much on the toy front.  Going to save some $ this time.

These are amazingly bad.  I keep hoping they'll put out something new worth buying, but I'll be saving my modey as well.

I know some might label me a G1 elitist, but I loved transformers because the vehicle mode looked like a vehicle and the robot mode looked like a robot.  This new stuff fails on both fronts - something that doesn't look like a robot transforms into something that doesn't look like a vehicle.

You'd have more luck finding a robot shape in a bag of potato chips.

I'd buy many of those, were they good sculpts and within 200 miles of me.

I'd get these two, likely no more.

7 (tie). Valkyrie
9. Crimson Dynamo

He was late to a team meeting.

Really?  Weren't Chad Johnson and Plaxico Burress suspended for one game each for being late to meetings?  I guess the rules are different if it's your best guy...  ;)

It's nice if all you wanted were the tower and an AT-ST or something, but it does suck that we get vastly superior figures that make up at least two of the set.  The tower rocks, and was worth the price (to me) last year, but the price of the set sure was a lot easier to swallow knowing you got 2 VOTC Snowtroopers, and some other good stuff in it.

I don't know - most people I've talked bought it mainly for the Turret.  Most of the "new" figures are the same, so I don't see the Snowtrooper switch as much of a loss.  Hasbro could have just left the set two snowtroopers short as well.  I personally would rather have saved $5-10 on the set if it meant taking these instead of the SA version.

That's actually two confirmed stores within 5 miles of each other that are pricing this at $70.  Ridiculous.

I thought the vikings looked surprisingly good for a change yesterday.  I guess it helps to start out 14-0 shortly into the game.  Did anyone hear why Peterson didn't start the first or second series?  He didn't seem injured and ended up with a strong game - just seemed odd that they would keep out their best player through much of the first quarter for no reason.  I'm personally a firm believer in letting guys go out and get a feel for the game versus the committee approach many teams have started utilizing.

Christina Ricci at the Episode 1 premier.

Nice to see she's excited to be there, but I don't find her attractive at all.  Does anyone else think she just looks too much like a demon?  :o

The Legacy Collection / Re: Legacy Collection Comic Packs

The Leia from the Xizor pack has my vote as the biggest hunk of **** ever.

Way worse than monkey Leia.

That thing looks like a midget made from room temperature sculpy.

What's sad is that Hasbro can sculpt excellent figures like Padme or Ahsoka which have petite physiques, but Leia looks like she packing 20 extra pounds of water weight in her cankles. Plus, she has those horse**** preposed arms. They easily could have repainted the arms from Fireside Padme to polish this turd a little bit.

The 80's Jane Fonda/Olivia Newton John attire doesn't do much for her either. Throw some leg warmers on there and douse her in water and we'll have the perfect Flashdance figure.

I'm hugely dissapointed in that Leia figure.  I know they are comic packs and sometimes articulation/sculpting is limited due to cost, but the "skin" parts actually look thicker than the "clothed" parts, which is a little ridiculous.

I picked up an Isaac Asimov collection of short stories. I've been digging short stories lately.

Maybe you have ADD?

Wait, what were we talking about?

Justin helped me out by being a 'mule' and picking my stuff up from Matt! Thanks a lot for the help!

We will need to come up with a better nickname if you want help in the future.   ;)

The Legacy Collection / Re: TRU Exclusive Battlefront 2 Multipacks
« on: November 22, 2008, 12:55 AM »
On one hand, the $40 price tag seems excessive.  On the other hand, people are busy buying 2x Rebel Pilot Evo packs for $40-45, so I guess it's not that crazy of a price, especially for TRU.  $40 is a lot, but there have been much worse deals in the line... :-X

That's a fair point.  For me the big difference is that the Rebel Pilots weren't all recently available as an exclusive for less money than they cost now.  You can also split up the packs if you want to buy just three.  I might pay $20 for three of the BF clones if I could pick which 3 were included.

but I'm sure there will be some kids and even some collectors seeing this at TRU for the very first time that will want it.

I'm sure that there are some collectors who are oblivious to online exclusives so this is a nice little overpriced treat for them.

There are also those that still don't purchase online exclusives even if they're aware of them because they don't want to give out info over the internet.  Personally, I think it's really crappy for Hasbro/TRU to be offering this for more than the exclusive price.

I have a bunch of rarer, 90's Star Trek figures.  Anyone interested in these?  I've been meaning to get a list together, but not sure what the market is like for ST these days...

ROTF Superion  Not sure why he's in that packaging, but it gives you a taste of what you'll be seeing in the toy aisles for the next few years.

Better size comparison of MP Grimmy He obviously dwarfs the G1 toy, but still doesn't look to be too tall compared to Classics Prime.  Oh well, he's still on my list.

I wish I could read the text around the pictures to know what the captions are.  Still not willing to pay this price, even for a Masterpiece.

I stopped at a TRU on my lunch and they didn't have these sets.  I had a coupon for 15% off any 1 item, but when I did the math all the prices came out to be WalMart's prices and since nothing screamed "buy me", I gave the coupon to someone looking at a big lego kit.

I think if these sets were $30 they would sell, at $40 they'll keep the Lars Homestead sets company.

I think even at $35 they would be tempting.  TRU's had lots of sales and the 15% off coupon, but $40 for an exclusive that cost less back when it was exclusive kind of makes me sick.
